Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm taking a closer look at a couple of very unique fog light options from Raxiom, I have with me the smoked and chrome CCFL halo fogs, available for all 2013 and newer Mustangs. Raxiom is without a doubt the industry leader in producing a wide variety of unique and cool aftermarket lighting for your Mustang, all backed by a full 2 year warranty. And if you want to see the rest of Raxiom's line up for your ride you have to subscribe to our YouTube channel, just by clicking the link below or on the AM logo in the corner. This way you can stay up to date with all of the latest Raxiom products for your ride, along with a brief breakdown. Up until recently your aftermarket fog light options for the 13 and 14 GTs have been slightly limited, well that's all changed now thanks to Raxiom with their yellow fog lights, and now these CCFL halo options. The first option, the chrome option, utilizes a chrome housing along with a crystal clear lens to achieve more of an OE look. The second option, the smoked look, uses that same chrome housing but with a dark smoked lens to achieve a look slightly more sinister. If you're not already watching this video on our site and you want to see more pictures of these fog lights in action, along with some customer reviews, you can simply click on the link below to head back to our product page. Both looks do sport the very cool CCFL halo accent lighting which in my opinion looks great on its own, or even better when paired up with a set of halo headlights, like we have installed on our 2014 GT behind me. As for those halos themselves well they do illuminate by themselves when the parking lights are switched on, or the halos will illuminate along with the fog light bulbs when you do switch the fog lights on. Speaking of those fog light bulbs you'll be happy to know the Raxioms do reuse your factory LED bulbs, so there's no need to purchase any extra bulbs or wiring. They also mount in the OEM location using the factory mounting brackets, so the install really isn't all that bad. You will need to drop the front bumper down to access the fog lights, in addition using the supplied wire tap to tap the halos into your fog lights harness. It may sound like a lot of work but you should be able to bang everything out in about an hour from start to finish. If you should get a little tangled up, don't hesitate to get in touch with one of our award winning customer service team, you can call them at 855-422-7439, or shoot them an email at support@AmericanMuscle.com, they'd be happy to walk you through everything. So if you're looking to compliment the halo headlights of your 13 or 14 GT, or you just want to make a statement with the headlights alone, you have to check out Raxiom's smoked or chrome halo fog lights, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Aggressive Styling. Add a more aggressive look to your Coyote Powered Mustang with a set of Raxiom Smoked CCFL Halo Fog Lights. These Smoked Fog Lights feature an integrated CCFL accent "Halo" ring that adds an intimidating appearance to your GT Mustang.

Improves Visibility. Now you can improve your visibility in dark foggy weather by replacing your old scratched and faded factory fog lights with a brand new set of Raxiom Fog Lights from AmericanMuscle.

Full Warranty. Raxiom lights feature an "Industry Leading 2 Year Full Warranty".

Installation Note. This set of Raxiom Fog Lights reuse the factory LED bulbs and install in the stock location using the factory wiring harness and mounting brackets. The CCFL Halo Accents include two wires that connect into your factory parking lights.

DOT Approved. This pair of Mustang Fog Lights are DOT (Department of Transportation) approved for legal street use under compliance # QR1200182.

Application. This set of two Smoked Raxiom Fog Lights with CCFL Halo's are designed to fit the 2013 to 2014 GT Mustangs equipped with factory fog lights. Driver and passenger side fog lights are included.

Good product for a good price

The lights are of good quality and easy to install. They come with written and picture instructions. The hardest part was reinstalling the bumper cover on the car. I did not splice the halo lights onto the parking lights wires as recommended in the instructions. I wanted the halos to turn on as soon my car started and did not want my parking lights on all the time. So I spliced the halo wires with additional wires and ran the two red wires to the fuse box. I used a "mini fuse tap" on fuse 39 (heated side mirrors) to get power and grounded the black wires to the body. Now the halo lights come on as soon my car starts and I don't have to drive with my parking lights on.

Review from Raxiom Chrome Fog Lights - CCFL Halo (13-14 GT)

    Love the halo look.

I recently added Raxiom Halo fog lights to my 2013 Mustang GT. I love the look! I installed them myself in an afternoon and evening. I would give them 5 stars except for 2 issues. Issue 1 is the lack of good instructions. I made 2 YouTube videos to show how I did it, but the included instructions are not so great. It took a bit of extra reasurch to figure out how to take the front bumper off. I also wish I had waited to 3M tape the ballast on after I reinstalled the bumper. The location they show on the instructions conflicts with the headlight when you reinstall the bumper. (Hint-move it an inch or two closer to the front of the bumper) Issue 2 has to do with the little gap in the halo light at the bottom of the halo. You can see it on all the pictures. Raxiom, turn the halo ring 180 degrees and that gap would be hidden by the top of the fog light housing. I tried to flip the halo myself, but it won't fit in the bracket properly if it's upside-down. Even with these issues, I would buy them again in a second. They really look great!

Great lights with some easy-to-fix flaws

These halo fog lights do provide a more aggressive look, and they look great doing it! Great product I would recommend to anyone who likes the "halo" look. There are, however, two flaws in the design, one major, and one minor. Major flaw: Once you've installed these (if you follow the installation to the letter) you will be unable to remove your bumper without cutting some wires. The vampire clips these use are not easily removed. Minor flaw: The break in the halo is at the bottom of the light (where it is visible) instead of at the top where it would be hidden by the grill. I've found that you can fix both of these issues. Fixing the Major Flaw is fairly straight forward by adding some connectors between the CCFL transformer and the light covers themselves. (I've done this, and it worked out great, and my bumper is completely removable) Fixing the Minor Flaw is a little more difficult. You *can* mount these lights upside down (with the CCFL break hidden at the top). You have to modify the mounting bracket a little. You have to hollow out the adjustment brace (plastic piece that 2 of the 5 LED mount holes mount to) and remove some spacing material. You also have to remove an adjustment stop on the top of the mounting bracket. Doing this, you'll have to increase the length of the Transformer to CCFL wires to handle the increased distance between the transformer mount point and the tops of the light housings. I also diverged from the install guide and wired this up to the same circuit with the wiper relay to provide power to the lights when the parking lights are off. Following the provided install guide, and all by yourself, you can get this done in an hour or so. If you want to fix the flaws listed above, it'll take a little more time (few hours to a day). Advice: get another pair of hands to help and learn to solder.

Review from Raxiom Chrome Fog Lights - CCFL Halo (13-14 GT)

    Looks great

Car really stands out now. Looks great coming down the road. Took about 2 hours to install. One thing I would recommend is mounting the ballasts to the bumper frame and not under the cover. Also, I would add some wire for a little more wiggle room if you ever had to take the bumper cover off again. You kinda get bare minimum. One thing I noticed, is that in the cold, it seems that one of the halos gets a little more dim than the other, but as soon as I start the car, it lights right up. I am assuming this is due to it being a flourescent light. Other than that, fantastic product.

    Demon Eyes

These halos really give your stock fog lights a little something extra. They are brighter than the factory led strips and run off of the same line as the marker lights on the bumper. The instructions are a bit rough but the end product makes it worth it.

    Smoked Fog Lights

I decided to go with smoked instead of chrome because I have a black '14 GT. I have to say that when the halos are off, the fog lights look more like brown- not black. When the halos are on during the day, they look blue and are not that bright. They look amazing at night though. The Raxiom fog lights are very good quality and great fitment. Poor instructions on removing the front bumper but not a big deal. If you have the right tools it takes about 2 hours to install them. Great addition to the car and makes your mustang look meaner. Highly recommended.

Review from Raxiom Chrome Fog Lights - CCFL Halo (13-14 GT)

    Difficult for DRLs

Whilst not yet installed, due to the DRL, I am having to engage the services of a custom car garage to insert a switch to turn off the fog lights whilst DRL function is on. It appears that there is no programming possible int he SJB to turn off DRLs. Canadian buyers beware - I was thinking of just covering the DRL sensor on the dash, but don't want my headlights on all the time. Solution - switch circuit just before Fog Lights.

Honestly a painful install, but WORTH IT

First things first - the install. I will begin by saying that the instructions are pretty vague. I initially tried to install these myself. The part where you have to splice into the wires is not nearly as detailed as it should be - I had to find a youtube video. Then comes the splice connectors themselves. These are honestly the cheapest, most garbage connectors you could possibly find and I can't believe nobody else has had this problem. The connectors don't even cut through the wire insulation, so I had to take them to a shop to have them soldered in. Then there was an issue with not being able to get both the halos and the fog lights working, so the mechanic had to wire the halos to my headlight halos. With all this said however, when paired with the Raxiom smoked halo headlights and the black billet grille (where the fog lights mount behind), the front looks absolutely WICKED. I'm addicted to seeing the stares I get from oncoming traffic. Definitely worth the effort.

    Looks Great!

Awesome little mod that will make you stand out from the other 5.0 owners with the stock fog light locations. Whenever another Mustang drives by me on the opposite side of the road, they break their neck and stare as they drive by. I know it's the fog lights because my car is completely stock other than the lights. You'll want to constantly drive with the parking lights on just to show off the halo's. Took me about an hour to install. There are plenty of YouTube videos that explain how to remove the front bumper. The included instructions were a little vague. Great little mod for the price though!

Review from Raxiom Chrome Fog Lights - CCFL Halo (13-14 GT)

Red and Green Don't Mean Port and Starboard

I agree with previous commenters that the instructions are wanting. Here's my impression of the installation instructions: Step 1. Put it on. Step 2. Finish. This was my first time removing a whole front bumper section and messing with factory lights. It was way more involved than putting on an axle-back exhaust was. I got the job done, but not without putting the lights on the wrong sides. There was no indication with the packaging as to which was left or right besides color-coded tape on the bubble wrap. I assumed red = port, green = starboard, so I went with that. Wrong. I ended up using a hack to install them upside down, left on right, right on left. It worked. The old factory LED bulb in the center doesn't work, anyhow, contrary to what's shown on the AM video. I highly recommend constantly checking to see if the halos are still working before replacing the bumper. The wire is apt to slip out of the Scotchlok connectors.

    Wicked Mustang Look

These fog lights synergize extremely well with the stock running lights. There are two modes to these fog lights: running lights and projection lights, so you can choose to have the fog running lights on during the day and projectors on at night! As far as the actual look, they give the Mustang a custom, aggressive, stylized look that will not only turn heads, but surely set your Mustang apart from the rest. The only downside to these fog lights are, the actual projectors aren't nearly as bright as the stock fog lights. However, for how great these fog lights look and synergize with the existing running lights, there could not be a better fog light option for the Mustang.

    Great Fog Lights

Install instructions werent complete regarding the removal of the bumper. I was unaware of the "teeth" being the final step of removal. Be careful when swapping over the fog light parts as the screws will strip the plastic easily. Ive had the fog lights on the car for about a month and one of the halos has faded. I will be contacting A.M and Im sure a swap wont be an issue. I give these fog lights 3 stars due to the cost vs. what you get. Its just the housing with a halo for 125 bucks.

If you plan on just bolting these things in an hour and don't expect to do to much, these aren't for you. They took me about three hours to install and gets tricky at points. The instructions are very straight forward but not detailed to every aspect. Sadly one of the halos after three days now take time to light up (about three minutes) had to get a replacement sent out. When they do work they give you car a very nice aggressive look!
