Roush cold air intake

Very epic piece to add to your ride. It has an excellent sound with a roush axel back exhaust. I would definitely recommend this piece for a v6 mustang.

mpg how many miles per gallon can i get out of this intake?

  • So far, I can only tell about a 10% increase. It's just so hard to lay off the gas now that it sounds so much cooler, I haven't been driving as slowly as I did before.

Which cold air intake brand will give me more horsepower and torque? I want to get a cold air intake for my 2012 mustang v6, but i want the brand that i will literally feel the results. Roush doesn't say how much horse power and torque increase

Jona

  • Just about any cai will give you more hp/tq but the best bang for you buck will be there cai/bama tuner combo. its the best deal and you should see atleast a 30 hp increase, and will make sure get the most out of the rest of your aftermarket parts. They have a video of it on project car for your year.

Will it fit with a Throttle Body spacer? I have the Steeda throttle body spacer and I have seen other CAI's that say they won't fit with a throttle body spacer.

BigJer51

  • I would not recommend using a throttle body spacer with the Roush or Airaid intake. The fit is already very tight without the spacer.

Does this fit with Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer (11-13 V6)? Does this fit with Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer (11-13 V6)? I want to get this CAI but I am not sure if it will fit with the Does this fit with Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer (11-13 V6) I just purchased. Any help?

nvrslpn

  • If the airaid spacer is the same width as the SR performance spacer then you should have no problem. Just slide the sleeve from the intake as far up the throttle body as you can and you'll be go to good.

Fuel Injectors I heard that sometimes you need to upgrade fuel injectors so that the amount of air isn't too much for the amount of fuel. This matches up with the V6's stock injectors right? Just double checking before I make the purchase.

KyleBrown

  • yes, the increase is not big enough to need bigger injectors

Anyone knows where I could buy the air filter to replace mine? since i've had my Roush cold air intake for almost 40k and I haven't changed the filter yet.

MA

  • you SHOULDN'T have to replace the filter in it. Any auto parts store (or online) sell cleaning kits that you can use - basically you rinse it off, use cleaner reoil it! kits usually go for @ $20

    Excellent addition

Love my new roush intake! Everything came in a timely manner and was packed nicely. Install was fairly simple. It was a tight fit but once in it looked great and it sounds great also. Makes the stock exhaust pop on the downrev! Only thing i would complain about is i didnt recieve a paper receipt/invoice in thr package.

After doing lots of research, I decided to go with this Roush CAI. So glad I did! The throttle response feels quicker, and I'm sure it boosted my hp and torque, but the sound alone was worth every penny. No more "stock V6" sound - my car now sounds throaty and has a real growl above 2000 rpm. Next step will be an exhaust system, probably a cat-back...

    Great, easy, performance upgrade

This product performs great, looks great and is easy to install. The finish on the product is of high quality. On our V6, 6 speed the sensor was about 3/4 of an inch off for a perfect fit. Just a little trimming to the cover and it was taken care of easily. Love the product, would recommend.

    WOW

All I can say is WOW... Install was straight forward with no problems. The kit was missing the instructions but a quick email to Roush and I had the instructions via email in less than 5 min. CAI produces a great growl upon acceleration, eliminates hesitation and produces more power. You can't go wrong with this CAI. I had it installed in less than an hour and I basically know next to nothing about working on vehicles. If I can install this kit, anyone can that can read. Instructions also came with great pictures. Also gas mpg average increased by 3 mpg in the limited time I've had to drive. Next week I'm headed to Wyoming so that will be the test for MPG.

It is what they say it is.

Does it increase HP and Torque? Yes ... approx 10 HP in the low rpm range (0 up to 3500 rpm's). Does it make your throttle response better? Yes. Can you feel the extra power? Yes ... with you "butt dyno". A real dyno will verify the same. Does it get you more mpg? Yes ... 2-3 mpg vs stock air filter and 1 extra mpg more vs a "drop-in" performance air filter. Does it sound great? Yes. It starts to "growl" when the rpm's get to approx 2000 rpm's. It makes my Ford Racing Sport axle back mufflers sound louder for sure. My wife drove it when I installed the intake and immediately said it sounds louder. Also makes my muffler tone sound slightly deeper. It actually makes me want to drive my 2013 v6 automatic more. Before installing the intake, I drove in sport mode most of the time because the mufflers sounded better than in regular drive mode. Now, It sounds so much better, I do not care which mode , regular drive or sport mode, I drive in. I get 23-25 mpg in the city, if I stay within 5 mph of the speed limit. And, I get 30+ mpg on the highway at 70 mph. I love it and would definitely purchase it again.

    Roush CAI for my V6

Good product a little complicated due to changing out a bracket. I like the sound and perfromance gain. The nice thing about this product from Roush is it does not void warranty nor does it require a tune. I checked with my dealer. Great little add to improve your performance. The jury is still out on any gas milage improvement. The instructions were good and they had easy to understand pictures. One issue I found with the instructions is the information on maintenance requirments for the CAI/Filter. It was very limited.

    Great Product!

The fit over the throttle body was a bit tight but overall installation was a breeze. Makes my V6 sound like a boss along with my flowmasters, especially at high RPMs. Moderate acceleration gain and so far about 3mpg boost even though I've been pushing the engine a little more just to enjoy the sound and feel of it.

Roush Cold Air Intake 2012 V6

The Roush CIA looks like a factory fit, it’s very easy to install and has an excellent sound when you get on the throttle. There is a noticeable gain in acceleration, but have not seen any improvement in mpg. No installation instructions were shipped with this product, but I heard Roush has an excellent customer service dept. Last, American Muscle did a great job with the fast shipping!

    Installation a breeze

I was concerned that this unit would not fit on the 2013 but install took only 45 minutes. That is including finding the right tools for the job. My garage isn't the best organized! Anyway, it fit like it was made for my car and the sound when driving down the road and needing to apply the gas is AWESOME! Definitely get it if you like to know you're driving a Mustang!

    Roush for my Roush

My husband bought me this for my Birthday. We got it yesterday and installed it last night. It took a little longer than an hour on my 2014 due to the curve of the pipe and tight fitment. You can definitely tell a difference in horsepower and it gives it a deeper sound with my Roush exhaust too. LOVE IT!!!!

    GOOD ADDITION TO YOUR V6

Very happy with my new Roush CAI. I have Roush axel back exhaust, and this gave it more bass than before. I took my car to a Jack Roush car signing and people there thought it was v8. Fit is very tight, but only took about 20-30 minutes to install. This intake may have helped a bit with response gains, but can't really notice much of a power change (worth the cost though for the deep bass alone). I did notice that when I wash my car there is a small amount of water that collects under the filter. More than likely this is such a small amount that it would not be sucked up into the throttle body, but may be something to check and keep an eye on. Overall it sounds great and looks even better. I'm very happy with my purchase!!

    Good Price, Easy Install

I ordered the CAI as the first of many mods to my 2012 mustang. I love the sound of the intake and the power gains were noticable. I combined it with Flowmaster axel backs and now the car can breathe. Installation was a breeze, even though somebody forgot to put the instructions in the kit! I am not a "gearhead" at all but know how to do basics and that is all that you need. I have since added 3.73 gears (hired a shop for $375)and preformance Bama tune. Next up is the driveshaft and suspension and will wind it all up with the supercharger.

    WOW

I honestly just purchased the intake for the fuel efficiency and performance gains, but after I installed it and went for a test drive.. OH GOD IT GROWLS! it completely blew me away once I stepped on it, under 4k revs its quiet as the stock air box, but once you push it a little I felt that every penny was worth it.

    Does not seal

There is a noticeable power increase with this intake, however it could be a lot better due to the fact that it does not seal. I would not consider this a COLD AIR intake with how much hot air it takes from the engine. Also whenever it rains I have to stop and dry out the bottom due to puddling inside the tray. I would recommend looking for one with a lid on the box.

Nice first upgrade, minor fitting issues...

I don't know much about mechanics, tools, or cars and was able to get the job done in a little over an hour. Just follow the instructions carefully, there's also videos on YouTube to help. It was a very tight fit around the throttle body, I literally had to force it, cram it on. Once on it works great. No issues, nice sound. Definitely will change the tone of the stock v6, nothing major though. I recently purchased another upgrade, BBK 73mm throttle body. With this Roush cold air intake, the throttle body did not fit. It took a while to find the hump hose to replace the Roush one. American muscle was unable to help me, i was told to continue trying and it should fit. No way! I ended up contacting summit racing and they were able to hook me up with the perfect silicone fitting. The size of the fitting is kinda rare to come by, glad they were able to help.
