Premium Quality. Ensure the longest life for your new clutch by purchasing a complimentary SPEC billet steel flywheel. When buying a flywheel for your V6, you want a flywheel made to the highest standards for performance and safety. SPEC Billet Steel Flywheels are machined to a .001 tolerance (other brands are only made to .01) and designed and weighted for the perfect balance and surface to compliment your new clutch.

Protects Your Investment. When replacing your clutch you have two options: resurfacing your flywheel, or getting a new flywheel. Most times, getting a new flywheel is better than resurfacing, as the flywheel will dictate how well your clutch will perform, as well as how long it will last.

Rebuildable. A cheaper flywheel won't stay that way - SPEC's steel flywheels have a replaceable steel friction plate which makes this flywheel rebuildable. And this flywheel surface is also made from a special type of steel specifically designed to help your new clutch "bed in" properly and to promote superior grip - so this might just be the last flywheel you ever have to buy.

SFI Certified. If you're using this flywheel in high performance or racing applications, SFI Certification is critical so you can run your Pony at the track or strip. And it's great for peace of mind even in a daily driver - at higher RPMs, stock cast flywheels have been known to explode.

Application. This SPEC flywheel is designed for V6 Mustangs with a production date of 2005 through June 6th 2007.

Technical Notes:
  • Mustangs built from 2005 to December 2006 will use Spec flywheel part# SF66A or can reuse the stock factory flywheel with the SF66 Clutch.
  • Mustangs built from January 2007 to June 6th 2007 must use Spec flywheel part# SF66A with the SF66 Clutch.
  • Mustangs built from June 6th 2007 to 2009 require the use of SPEC SF66 series clutch kit and SPEC Flywheel part# SF66A-2.

    Excellent Quality, Very Satisfied

Purchased SPEC's aluminum flywheel for the 4.0L Mustang a couple months back, but only just got around to doing a teardown and install. This is a beautifully manufactured part and just reeks of quality straight out of the box. Install was the same as any flywheel, and all factory hub bolts, and pilot bearing and sleeve fit perfectly. In use, motor spins up noticably faster due to the lighter weight, and the replacable insert is a nice feature for future clutch changes. The only (very) minor downside is a bit of transmission "grumble" when sitting in neutral with the clutch out (this is normal with lightweight flywheels)

First, the flywheel itself:awesome. My stang revs up WAYY faster now and my fuel economy has gone up as my cruising rpms went down. This is not a maybe part. This is mandatory. Then, the service: It didn't ship with the pilot bearing, but AM was very competent and told me that although Spec would probably be a better company to call, that if Spec didn't get me what I needed they'd be glad to intervene. Spec gave me the part number (the pilot bearing off a 1997 Corvette w/LS1, kind of bizarre installing that in my ford but whatever) and I was able to fit everything together great. I emailed AM about possible reimbursement for the bearing and they delivered. Ryan went above and beyond and called Spec and provided for me financially. Awesome awesome people. Now my only supplier for my stang.

Make sure it is the right flywheel, its very important to check, then double check, then triple check. My car somehow ended up with an oddball driveline and SPEC had to specially make a flywheel for my car. Revs up from lower rpms quicker than before. Just remember that with a lighter flywheel the momentum is reduced and you have to make sure to keep the rpms up at first so you don't kill the car.
