Wear on tires or bearings? Will adding spacers to my 2010 GT all four tires cause any extra tire wear or excess bearing wear?

Noeffort

  • I put these spacers on my Mustang a little over a year ago to clear some brake caliper covers. So far I do not see any extra wear and tear on the tires or bearings.

Can I use stock lug nuts? Should I get different lugs that will match stock thread count? I put the spacers on my 2013 GT after purchasing caliper covers. Want to make sure they are safe. Doesn't seem like I have the same amount of threads on the lug bolt.

SBryan5500

  • Yes. Stock lug nuts, as well as wheel locks, work fine with these spacers.

Inner Front Tire Worn Does this spacers help front tire to prevent inner tire worn?? i have cobra 03-04 wheels 18x9 on the front with 285/35 tire size inner tire is what i refer where does the brand tire and size come

LuisVt

  • no they only move the wheels out to miss strut towers,or rubbing the inner fender well. sounds like you need a front end alighment. also running 285/35 on 9 inch rims is cutting it close ,you really need 9.5 or even better 10 inch rims, i ran 285/35 on 19x9 inch rims. pappy

    Just did not work

Bought spacers to get a little more clearance for the caliber covers. They spaced correctly however they threw my wheel balance off. Tried to adjust and make sure each spacer was centered on the hub, however that seem to make things worse. I never thought about a balance problem before install, however it makes sense, they don't have to be off much to create a balance problem. I removed them and now everything is smooth and back to normal. I will return them to AM.

    Great product

I purchased a set of MGP Caliper covers and needed some extra clearance for the wheels. These did the trick. Easy to install and center. I sprayed the back side with 3M 77 spray adhesive and let set up while installing the caliper covers. When I was ready to put the spacers on I lined them up and pressed in place. The adhesive held and allowed a little wiggle room for repositioning as needed to make sure they were centered.

    305 wide

Fixed my tires from rubbing on my exhaust. Have 305's in the rear and just needed a little extra clearance to insure no tire rub. Worked perfect.

    3/16" Wheel Spacers

The 3/16" wheel spacers are an inexpensive solution for tires rubbing on the inside of fender wells or after market wheels rubbing on calipers. These will work without changing the stock wheel studs, but the 5/16" version is too thick and doesn't leave enough threads to mount the wheels. The only problem is getting the spacer centered on the axil so it doesn't through the wheels off balance. I used 3M spray adhesive to glue the space onto the inside of the wheels to keep them centered then bolted the wheels on as usual. That seemed to work well but you may have to do it again each time the wheels are removed.

    Spacers

The spacers works well up front with stock wheel studs on the 99-04 GT's. Not sure for other years but I haven't had a problem except for trying to center it since it isn't hub centric. Anything larger and you'll have an unsafe amount of threads for your lug nuts. I'd also recommend getting hub centric spacers for larger applications.

    Wheel spacers & Caliper Covers

I recently installed MGP Caliper Covers on my 04 Mach 1. Before I began the installation I was a little concerned with the spacing between the wheel and the caliper. It just barely made the 1/4" of recommended clearance so I purchase a set of the 3/16" spacers to make sure that I would not run into any problems. They worked out great. I used the existing clips that were already on the lug bolts to hold the spacer in place and keep it centered when I installed my wheels. The spacer worked out great and the finished job look terrific.

    5 MM wider

Great product. Elongated holes make it difficult to center on the hub. Overall money well spent.

    Serves it purpose well.

When I installed these spacers I had lowered my GT, with Whiteline front and back sway bars. After lowering, it seemed like the body had shifted right up front. Causing a recessed look on 1 front wheel. It was only by 3/16 of an inch. I used the spacer to get wheels even. Although the spacer was a very little measurement, it made a difference. They were small enough to use on front and back wheels, leaving plenny of stud to mount wheels. I did use ATV to keep spacers centered. I didn't notice any NVH. For what I used it for, It worked out great.
