Does this work in conjuction with the Barton shift-throw shifter and shift bracket or is this a replacement for the bracket?

Talonderiel Year: 2012 Model: GT

  • Yes, it will work fine. This is for the transmission mount. It will keep the trans in proper alignment, which will give your new shifter bracket something much more solid to work from.

    Butter-shifts

The install was super simple and easy. I got it done in my garage with the car on jack stands. It took me about ten minutes. The difference in the shift from 2nd to 3rd at high RPM is night and day. I am using the stock shifter and it is so much nicer now with this part. The only drawback is the increase in NVH. I expected this to increase but it vibrates through the floor pan like crazy when I accelerate hard and I can even feel it through the steering wheel. It's no big deal on the track but on my daily driver I have a feeling that it is going to get old really quick. We'll see.

    Excellent product for the price.

For guys that miss shifts from second to third this mount is for you. Longest part about the install was jacking up the car. Easy 10 minute install after that. Alot of guys said they got NV i didn't gain any at all. Car goes in gear easier in every gear and when banging from second to third is so much better. I really recommend this product for someone looking for a cheap part for there car.

    Huge difference

Super easy to install and the difference in the drive line is amazing. Takes all the slop out and no more missing gears. Decreased the extra noise that I had from installing short shifter. Awesome product.

    another great whiteline product

This is a nice low budget mod and helps keep the drivetrain a little more rigid for those occasional spirited rides.

    Best $31.32 I ever spent!

I cannot believe what a dramatic difference this simple part makes. It works exactly as advertised. I am stunned .The shifts are positive, and smooth. It feels like a different shifter. I read the comments about increased NVH after installation. I did not notice any increase. However prior to installing . I did trim about 1/4" off the flat center section prior to installing as many suggested so that may be why. I suspect that if it is not trimmed the center section which protrudes from the back the mount and contacts the crossmember causing the increase in NVH. Installation was simple, I installed it on my back in my garage with a floor jack and jack stands. It took less the an hour. Greasing the bushing before installation is a must. Great Mod. Highly recommended!

BROUGHT A SMILE TO MY FACE!

I do a lot of research on any product I add to my 2014 GT. Installation took about 15 minutes using my ramps. Interestingly, the issue of NVH was minimal. It actually reduced some of the noise from my Ford Racing Short Throw Shifter. I only felt a little vibration in 2nd and 3rd gear between 2000 to 3000 rpm. But, when I test drove it...........WOW! Best functioning stick shift I have ever owned; and I have owned more than 10. 100% perfect, hard throw, hammer down, flawless! If the minimal NVH bothers you, maybe you should be driving something else.

Works, but not for the street

I purchased this after reading an article in a Mustang publication. Very simple to install and it DID make the shifting more positive. HOWEVER, in the article it says you get some NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). The first time I drove it after installation, it vibrated the car as if I had a bad u-joint in the driveshaft. Not worth it for daily driver. Great for racing.

    mod of tranny bushing

ok read lots about this piece doing its job but adding some un wanted NVH. So I cut 1/2" off the length of the rectangular middle section and then drilled 5 holes in the middle section length wise. I then greased up the unit and into all the holes. It slid right in and made a nice differance with the noise i heard from my Barton Shift bracket install. It really quieted the mechanical linkage noise and made the shifter feel very smooth and direct. No more missed 2nd to 3rd shifts and it just feels solid! SEE PICTURES

    As Described

Works exactly as described and like others have said, it does add NVH. When I first drove after install, I thought I had done something wrong becuase the NVH was so much more than expected. I've done some surgery on the bushing and maintained 85% of it's intended purpose of the shift improvement and cut down probably 95% of the NVH. Of course it now it doesn' even resemble the piece I ordered.
