Description
Improve ET's and low end torque. Are you looking to get more low end grunt off the line and lower ET's at the same time? Then look no further than installing a set of steeper gears in your Pony. This Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Gears are perfect for street, road, or race use.

Complete Kit. This Ford Racing Gear and Installation Kit comes complete with all the components needed to swap out your ring and pinion gear. It includes Ring gear, Pinion gear, inner rear gear pinion bearing, 1 bottle of Friction Modifier, 2 bottles of 75w140 Gear Oil, gaskets, seals, shims, bearings and all the required hardware.

Legendary Ford Racing Quality. When you're adding performance parts to your Pony, you can't go wrong by installing parts from the folks that know it best. Ford Racing's legendary quality ensures years of hassle-free use.

Recommended Upgrade. Changing the rear axle gear ratio will throw off the calibration of your Mustangs speedometer, but a Ford Racing Speedometer Recalibration Tool or a Bama SF4/X4 Power Flash Tuner is a quick and easy way to fix this issue.

Application. This Ford Racing 4.10 Rear Gear and Installation Kit is designed for use with 8.8in solid rear axle equipped Mustangs, including the 2005-2014 GT, Bullitt, BOSS, Shelby GT500 and 2011-2014 V6 models.

Application Note: Does not fit 2013 Boss or 2013-2014 Shelby GT500 Mustangs with axle codes S-215-D and S-219-D.

Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

I plan on adding NO2 in time. Will these gears be to short for that?

  • most likely yes, especially if you're going turbo or supercharged. that is of course; unless the car is a strip car only.

    '11 Automatic GT 4.10s

These 4.10s give you a great feel out of the hole if you can hook up. The quality is good(no noise), and would recommend a shop install. If you have an automatic 11-14 GT though.. These aren't that great for us. Yes, you get the sensation and feel of a faster accelerating car, but the fact is your ETs stay the same or suffer with these gears with how short the auto 1st gear is(why AM suggested these is beyond me). Went to a drive train specialist who works on Fords almost exclusively and he recommended the 3.31s/higher stall torque converter for my auto and my ETs were slightly better with just the 3.31 swap alone, and assume they will improve drastically with a TC.

    Excellent bang for your buck

This kit includes everything you need to install the gear set (Don't forget the tune). I notice no gear noise and am perfectly happy with my choice of 4.10s. These are big beefy Ford gears and the mechanic said I could beat on them no problem. My '10 GT is a 400hp 5-speed with basic bolt-ons and launches hard with the new gears. I have had 3.73s in the past, which were good, but leave something in the stable. I'm not going to tell you what my car does at 65mph. Nobody drives that way. At 80mph my car turns 2850 rpms. At 120mph my car turns 4000rpms. Some fears that did not prove out: 1) I did not lose first gear. I still leave from a dead stop in first. 2) I did not top out at 110mph. I was at 120mph on the highway and still had pedal and tach left to go. 3) I did not gain that many rpm's (from 3.55s). 4) I do not get any gear noise. 5) My gas mileage barely changed, from 17.5mpg to 17.0mpg. Install cost was $650 which was at a trans/rear end shop (still cheaper than Ford). Bottom line, these gears are awesome. Not for one second have I regretted my choice. This is how things worked out for me. So my advice is Don't Fear the Gears! As always, service and parts from American Muscle and the Bama tune guys is top notch!

The upgrade from stock 3:31 gear's to 4:10 made a substantial difference in the performance . I was worried it would be too much difference but in the end the gear's match very well with the six speed transmission . My car has much more low end but still has plenty of top end too . I would recommend this product .

    Definite performance improvemnt

Brought this kit to a rear end specialist shop and left my car for a day. The shop told me that it's really important to break these gears in. Make sure to keep the speed below 50mph for first 100 miles (drive 15 miles and then cool off for 30 minutes), and then no more than 65mph for another 500 miles. This ensures that you don't chip your gear teeth as well as keeping the integrity of your new gear oil. After 500 miles, make sure to change your gear oil as there might be little chunks of metal due to gear break-in period. As far as performance, it's a great improvement over stock gear. The car responds way better. I've also uploaded a custom tune from Bama via inTune tuner, and the tune has really improved the performance.

    Torque!

This was an amazing improvement! These 4.10 are perfect for 2010-14 mustang Gt.. If you're thinking about going with 3.73..don't! I didn't see a dramatic change in fuel economy. It took me a day to install due to access of proper tools. They don't send you enough fluid in this kit, you will need another bottle for the 8.8 rear end. Once again, best mod Iv bought so far for my car.

    Still within 500 mileage

These Gears paired with a tune turned out above amazing for me so far. Im currently at 480 miles within two days and cant wait till i hit my 500 to really break my car in. So far the difference is just gas mileage. Surprisingly it hasnt been as horrible as everyone says for me. Im currently running 93. My mileage use to be 15.4 before this gear swap from stock. I was so stoked when i got my car from shop mileage read 31.1. Sadly with my driving its a solid 19mpg or higher. Either way its entirely better mileage than b4

It is a different car now

I had a Bama tune and cold air intake for a while and love them. When I had the 4.10 gears installed it changed everything. The car is very fast off the line. The response is great. Gas mileage went from 28 to 23. That is about what I expected based on other reviews. Overall it makes daily driving fun.

    Major Difference

Never liked the stock 3.31 ratio. Installed the 4.10's with tune and immediately felt a power increase, no major difference in fuel economy. Can't wait to track it.
