Review & Installation Video

Hey. everybody, I'm Justin with, and in this video, I'm gonna be talking about a few upper and lower control arm options from BBK, available for your '79 to 2010 Mustang. If there's ever been one company that has truly flown the Mustang flag since day one, it's BBK. They've been showing their support for the Mustang and it's owners since the mid-80s, and show no signs of letting up anytime soon. As many of you guys probably already know, BBK makes a wide variety of parts for many different applications, including exhaust systems and cold air intakes, headers, and even suspension components like I'm talking about here today. Now the parts I have with me in this video consist of an upper and lower rear control arm kit, available for both your three and four link Mustang. So when ordering, just make sure you grab the right set for your generation. So the job of the rear upper and lower control arms is to brace and link the rear end of your Mustang to the chassis itself, and ultimately control the movement, hence the name control arm. Now the problem is the factory stuff contains soft rubber factory bushings that do a great job soaking up the excess noise vibration and harshness, but can often times leave a lot on the table when it comes to performance. Now this can cause problems such as bad wheel hop, poor traction, and inconsistent launches, just to name a few. The upper and lower arms from BBK are gonna improve on those areas I just talked about, thanks in part to the high-quality aircraft grade steel, precision welding, and most importantly, the high-performance polyurethane bushings. They're gonna help reduce any excess movement in the rear end, help you put that power down, and improve your handling in the process. Finally here, all the bars have been powder coated in the signature gray from BBK and do include greaseable fittings here to help prolong the lives of the bushings themselves. Since the kit from BBK does include both the upper and lower rear control arms you are gonna be spending a little bit more time in the garage, but overall the install shouldn't be that bad, maybe two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Now we do call this one a full-day install on the site, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of you guys can bang this one out in six hours or less, just to get everything knocked out. So always guys, if you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to reach out to our team of Mustang experts here at AM anytime. They're always standing by ready to give you a hand. So if you guys are looking to put the power down, get off the line a little better, and improve your handling in your 1979 to 2010 Mustang, be sure to check out one of these kits from BBK right here at

Improves Traction. Drag racers know if you can't "hook up" at the track you are going nowhere fast. But with the BBK Rear Upper & Lower Control Arm Kit you will greatly improve traction and decrease your 60ft. times.

Quality Construction. Both the upper and lower control arms are precision welded for extra strength and feature greaseable zerk fittings, polyurethane bushings, and are completed with a baked on powder coat finish for durability and good looks.

do i need to grease nipples after job is complete and if so what type is recomended.

  • You will need to grease the arms, otherwise they will squeek and creak (it is easiest to do before you install them). Any bearing or urithane friendly grease will do.

As I am installing the lower control arms I noticed that the arm is not center of the rear bushing. Is their a right and left to the lower control arms. Right now I have the label facing outward face the tire. Not sure if this is right.

Fitment with lowering kit? Will these work if the car has been lowered at all? Or will I need to get adjustable ones?

  • They will work but I recommend relocation brackets.

    Needs grease

If the factory would have properly greased the 3 links this would be a great review. But they didn't so I had to remove all links to properly grease them as I had a horrific speaking after initial installation. The call center was useless. I finally figured it out on my own and all is good. Too bad BBK won't get my money again.

    Worth it!

I was on the wall about what brand I wanted to go with on the control arms. I figured that it would be better just to buy the upper and lower control arms at the same time. So I went with the BBK. I had the shop install them and so far they have been AMAZING! the hook-up is unreal. It definitely is a mod I would do to any sports car. Really helps with handling and getting the power to the road rather than wheel hop.

    I like them!

I like these, they ended up working perfect for me... I think the guy below was using the standard grease. These are polyurethane, so you need to use grease specific for poly bushings or they'll rot out, make noise. They were a little on the high priced side, but my car hooks up like crazy now...

GT-500 Upper & Lower Control Kit

I purchased the Upper & Lower Control arm kit because the car had a wheel hop problem. After installing the control arm kit it has substantially reduced the wheel hop problem. I would make a recommendation.. Before finishing the installation make sure you grease the control arms using the provided grease fittings. Also whenever you have the car serviced have the shop grease the control arms. What I have found if they are not greased they become noisy.

    Nice upgrade in handling

These upper and lower rear control arms resulted in a major improvement in handling, especially on a corner that is bumpy. The rear wheels remain in much better contact with the road. My '09 GT has a manual transmission with 3:73 gears. The Mustang is much more stable and in control under full acceleration, and the hood no longer aims at the moon when the throttle is opened up. Fords standard control arms are too wimpy for the V-8 power of the Mustang. This BBK control arms set really makes the car much more manageable. If your Mustang has a V-8, these control arms are a must.

    Do Not Buy

I spent the 300.00 on the part, and literally hundreds on having the installed and reinstalled with lube so they wont squeak. Now they're stripped and the upper is so loose that it clunk every time i brake. terrible purchase.
