Just Doesn't Fit
This is one of the very few products I have purchased from AM that turned out to be a disappointment. After reading previous reviews, it was sort of a mixed bag, so I decided to take a chance, and the price was good. Once the carpet arrived, we spread it out in the garage for about a week. It flattened out nicely, and looked pretty good. However, it appeared to be pretty thin. You could actually see through the carpet anywhere it was creased.
Once we removed the old carpet from the car, it was immediately obvious that this was a much thinner and lighter carpet than the OEM carpet. It was still less than half the price of OEM carpet, so that was not too surprising. The real issue came when we put it in the car. There is no way to test fit it, without cutting it, so once you start the installation process there is no turning back. It was quickly apparent that it simply did not fit. We have done everything from leather upholstery, custom shift and e-brake boots, and custom installed sound system on the interior, to full suspension and paint on the outside, so we are pretty good with making things work, and work well on the SN95. This carpet however defeated us. It was just not the standard of product we put in the car.
If your carpet is totally trashed, and you are on a budget, this may not be a bad option. It will cover up the floor. The color is good, and the carpet itself looks nice. The heel pad is pretty much like the OEM, but overall the carpet will not fit the same. Also be aware that you cannot test fit it without cutting it. Once you do that there is no returning it. On the upside, my son and I had a good time working on it together, and we got a good chuckle out of our carpet skills. Maybe a professional shop could make it work, but this is a tough one for the weekend warrior. Even fairly well accomplished ones. In the end we just patched up the old carpet, and put it back.
