This and off road Xpipe I am trying to decide the best exhaust system. I was thinking of going with these Outlaw cat back but I also want to eliminate the cat's so I was thinking Pypes off road x pipe. These look like they have an X pipe. Will the two work together or should I go with Option 2, the Pypes super cat back?

NaplesStang

  • The flowmaster system offers a 3 inch diameter rather than 2.75 inches. But if you want sound and performace go with the outlaw cat back for the sound and the pypes catless xpipe. I see no problem and it should fit.

Long Tube Header Compatibility Would I have any issues installing LT headers with this catback? I was looking at the ceramic BBK long tubes for my 2014 and I was just wondering if they were compatible with the x-pipe that is included with the catback.

JamesO

  • No. I believe you would need a shorty mid pipe to work with the longtubes.

I currently have flowmaster outlaw axleback with running kooks long tube headers and kooks shorty offroad x pipe. The company out here wants an arm and a leg and i was just thinking about buying this set and selling the x pipe with this exhaust and my axleback. What I'm trying to find out is if the x pipe with this set up is welded or if its attached with a clamp.

Dnovi01

  • The Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-Back Exhaust w/ X-Pipe does not come out of the box welded, it will come in sections and will be clamped together.

    Amazing sound

This system is killer!! Great sound and sleek look. The pipes have a much better look than the stock pipes and mufflers. This system barks, pops but be aware it is very loud, just under most decibel limits. This system is great and with an intake and tune will transform your mustang.

    Just what I expected

After listening to the sound clips on the website I decided the Outlaw was what I wanted. It's definitely louder in person, but was just what I wanted. As an installation note, I would say you should have 2 extra OE exhaust clamps before starting, as the install requires that you reuse a pair, and I found mine to be nearly impossible to take off undamaged and usable. Other than that, very easy install. There is a drone to the exhaust at 2000 rpm, but it's worth the irritation, because this system sounds like an animal at higher revs. It is very loud, so you won't be sneaking up on anybody with this exhaust. Love the sound.

    Freaking louder than loud

This product is ABSOLUTELY LOUD. At the first cold start it rumbles like no other exhaust and does so at every cold start. At 2k rpm there is a slight drone but hey who cares. The tip somewhat touches the bumper but all you have to do is put your shoe inside the tip and yank it down and to the right a little. Installation was quick and easy and you can feel the performance difference this exhaust offers. This exhaust is great if your looking for the best sound and somewhat performance. I would recommend this to every mustang owner.

    LOOOOOOUD! BE AWARE!

This system is ABSOLUTELY LOUD! I'm afraid to hit over 2k RPM in Koreatown, Los Angeles where I live. There are lots of cops out there. I have watched Outlaw axle-back in YouTube, but I haven't really watched Outlaw catback one there. I expected a little louder or higher tone than the axle back, but it was totally out of my expectation. A LOT OF LOUDNESS!! BE AWARE. The thing that you have to know before you order one. Yes, this system is very loud like ready-to-track one. Secondly, there is big big drone at 2000 RPM which range is cruising RPM in the highway. It may annoy your ears if you're not the type of person like a racer. Thirdly, it doesn't make sound in every single RPM. I can't explain it but it's like changing the sound in certain RPM, and it feels like there is no sound between the ranges(in the cockpit). So BE CAREFUL! I drifted the car during left turn and even in the straight line, and it wasn't my purpose because I couldn't hear the sound. For the performance, I haven't felt noticeable difference.

Best deal around, better than i expected.

This is my 4th Mustang and I have used Flowmasters, Borla and Pypes in the past. I know the new 5.0 Coyote is a real animal and a good set of pipes would go a long way but this was even more than i could have hoped for. My last Stang was an 03 Mach 1 with the 4 valve 4.6. I had Borla and Flows on it I thought that sounded amazing until I started this bad boy up with the new Outlaws on it. At cold start it has a rumble like I have never heard from a street car, it will just slap a huge smile on your face. After a few seconds it mellows out a bit but it still has the deep rumble we all crave. Once you start driving you hear a mix of FORD V8 power and a strong race inspired growl. The most impressive thing for me is the fact that mine is an auto but you still get those aggressive downshift sounds you would get from a manual when you slow down or come to a stop. As far as performance, i never expect a lot from Flowmasters, i see them as the best sounding system and that's what i wanted but to my surprise I got the power also. This thing kicks my a** off the line now instead of that awkward smooth take off FORD created for us for some reason. I had a local shop do the instal for me because i don't have a lift and I didn't want to have to fight with the stock system under a car on jack stands. My install was only $150, can't beat that. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this system to anybody that wants a very loud and aggressive ride. I feel like making constant left turns when i am driving this now. Thank you Flowmasters!

Very Loud, Annoyingly So At Times

This was way louder than I expected it to be. I absolutely love the note and volume, and it definitely turns heads when you go by. I've had numerous people compliment me on it. The only downside is how loud it is inside the car. It's loud enough that conversation with someone can be quite tough at times. The drone at 2k RPM is borderline intolerable. You'd better have the Shaker audio system in your car to drown it out or you'll go insane. The interior noise from this system makes using the voice commands for SYNC damned near impossible. Interior noise seems to be less if the windows are down. (No help if you're going to be driving the car year round though.) I received the product faster than expected. The box was banged up upon receipt, but I suspect that was more the fault of UPS than that of American Muscle or Flowmaster. The black paint on the mufflers was scratched off in a couple of places when I opened the box, but it didn't concern me since it wasn't going to be visible anyway. Not sure whose fault that was. The exhaust tips were unmarred though, and there weren't any dents or other damage anywhere. I'd recommend this exhaust for track use or a pleasure vehicle you only take out once in awhile. I WOULD NOT recommend it for a daily driver, especially if you use the SYNC system or Bluetooth a lot.

If you want people to stop and take notice!!

First off the BANG for your buck is outstanding. High quality , Great Fit, solid clean looking exhaust. Second is the sound... nothing will turn heads and get you complements more than this exhaust. Most people say it just sounds "Legit" "the real deal" Throaty full sound in Low RPM's and then straight up "Race Car" above 4000... There is some drone around 2k but it seems to very. 98% of the time I don't notice or care. It did get a bit louder after it broke in a bit.

    Fantastic sound, couldn't be happier!

This product is awesome, hands down. In my city of 120,000 people, the only cars that are louder and more aggressive sounding than mine cost well over 2 to 3 times more what my mustang did. The only issue really with it, is that it rattles things inside the car, such as my cup holder, that around 2000rpm makes this shaking sound. I had the instillation done in a shop, because unless you have a way to raise your car up, it can't be done at home. Instillation was $60 (I know people at the ford dealership, hence why it was so cheap) and it took about 2 hours. Overall, I love the sound, the rumble, and the bang for the buck!!

Wicked note, Awesomely loud, Holy cabin drone!...

Well the title says it all...almost. First off installation was fairly simple, considering me and my buddy removed OEM and installed this exhaust in his driveway with jacks and stands. Took about 3 hours. Ended up cutting stock exhaust. Was immediately pleased with fit and look. It sounds like a mustang should sound aggressive and mean. Definitely a head turner. Only reason I didnt give it all five stars was due to the cabin drone. I have to shift into 5th gear and roll the windows down to use the Bluetooth calling and have fun trying to keep a normal conversation with the passenger. Other than that. I am very pleased.

    Easy install

The hardest part about installing this product is the removal or the stock system. The stock h-pipe is shorter than the x-pipe in the kit, which makes the stock mid-pipe longer, requireing more clearance to remove if you don't want to cut it. Once the stock system is removed the install is easy and does not require near as much ground clearance. Even with slightly bigger pipes from stock there are no problems with the fit. Best of all, it makes the car sound like it should.

    Loud exhaust

This is loud. The videos on here don't do the exhaust justice for its tone or decibel level. I hope I'll be able to bolt my factory mufflers to the flowmaster pipe for long road trips. Install was a breeze once the stock exhaust was removed. I cut mine behind the resonators to remove the stock pipe, they should suggest this in the directions to make it a lot easier. If you have a lift it shouldn't be a problem.

    HOLY LOUDNESS

This is the loudest cat back I've ever heard. Sound is beautiful and deep in all gears. The drone at 2k can be a bit much sometimes but I tolerate it because other than that it sounds amazing. I installed mine with floor jacks and jack stands. It was kind of a pain. If you don't have access to a lift you will have to cut the old exhaust out because of clearance. So if you want to keep the old exhaust for any reason you will need a lift. Could be done in two hours easy with a lift

Man do these things sound mean!! They are super deep and sound really aggressive. But they do have a downside , the drone is horrible right at 2k rpms. I really do love the sound while cruising through town but when on the high way around 70-75 it's just horrible. If I would've knew I wouldn't go with this product

    FORGET CONVERSATION!

I wanted a loud exhaust, and I definitely got it. I got pulled over 18 minutes after the install for noise (Maryland). It has a fantastic note, but from about 1800-2300 RPM, the cabin is BOOMING with noise. My wife and I have to speak quite loudly to hear each other, (sometimes a blessing). If this was my everyday car, I would probably switch out of this system. It is not really a good every day driving exhaust. If you are looking for extremely loud and aggressive...this is your exhaust.
