Description
Improve ET's and low end torque. Are you looking to get more low end grunt off the line and lower ET's at the same time? Then look no further than installing a set of steeper gears in your Pony. Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Gears are perfect for street, road, or race use.

Superior Quality. These Ford Racing 4.10 Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and a black oxide finish to resist corrosion.

Recommended Upgrade. Changing the rear axle gear ratio will throw off the calibration of your Mustangs speedometer, but a new Speedometer Gear is an inexpensive way to fix this issue.

Application. This Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Gear set will fit all 1986 to 1993 V8 Mustangs including the GT, 5.0 LX and Cobra models. A master bearing kit is recommended by most installers, especially on high mileage vehicles, see drop down option above.

Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

    Not too much gear!

I purchased these Ford Racing 410 gears and installed them myself. For those wondering the pinion measured .002 thicker than the original pinion with my 308 gears. This is actually fairly accurate. I ended up using the original pinion shim which was .027 thick. I rebuilt my Trac-lok and installed all new bearings along with these 410's to ensure nothing went wrong. In the end I ended up with a backlash of .008, zero runout, and a pinion preload of 22 in. lbs. The gears work great and with my T5 I think they feel great. They are not too much gear for a manual transmission. You do have to shift faster because they get you into your powerband so much quicker. I think 1st gear is a little short but that doesn't bother me. My speedo is exactly 10mph faster than my actual speed without changing the speedometer gear. The gears have not really effected my fuel mileage. If anything I'm wondering if they helped because it seems like I'm doing a little better on fuel. It might be because I reach my cruise speed sooner. Highway speeds are about 2200rpm at 70mph which is better than I thought it would be and that is running 225/50r16 tires. The gears are well worth what paid for on American Muscle and you can't beat the free shipping. If I had to do it over again I would certainly buy these again. Thanks AM!

    From 3:27 to 3:73 & now 4:10

Hey everyone I had purchased the 3:73 last year and was amazed from the difference. Well, here I am again and I had the 4:10 installed. Woooooowwww what a difference, The car moves like a rocket. One thing though I can\'t stay in first gear to long because after 2 seconds from the take off you would have too shift into 2nd. It\'s great I tell you, Just remember for every one gear you upgrade, it increases your rpm\'s by 200, but aslong as you have a stick, your 5th or 6th gear would bring your rpm\'s down to about 1400. This gear is truly a must have.

    The best!!

The best mod I have for my paxton blown GT. It really woke up the blower and RPM drop is just right at the blowers powerband!! Gas mileage is the same as before or better, but I havent noticed bad gas mileage at all. Acceleration is a monster. 3rd gear on the freeway is the craziest, and 4th feels like 3rd now. If you are serious about your Mustang, this is it. You wont regret it.

    Had both 3.73 and 4.10's

Well to start off, these will def. help your acceleration. Im thinking I will go back to the 3.73's because top end is totally lost and at 70 im running 2500rpm+ with these and mpg was def. noticeable with these 4.10's, but they are fun in the city...there just not that great on the highway...probably helps also if you have a 6spd and not a 5 like mine. Cheers!

    4.10 vs 3.73

These gears are the best bang for the buck i have found! Love Them! Doesnt effect mpg hardly at all. It tacks 2,000 rpm at 60mph. American Muscle is the best. Paid for 3 day shipping and got them in two! Thanks!
