Application I've scoured the internet looking for recommended methods of application and found nothing. Do I apply this gear by gear with a brush or do I just toss this in at the same time with the diff fluid?

  • It's designed to be poured directly in to transaxle case using a limited slip differential also referred to as a "Posi" meaning both wheels spin when power is applied. I would suggest pour entire bottle in first then pumping in your new fluid fill just below the fill hole plug. Check your year and model for specfication on filling level and fluid requirements. You may notice a faint noise from the differential for a few days until the new fluid and additive impregnate the clutch pads and it will go away nothing to worry about.

    Changing differential oil? Buy this!

    February 11, 2013

This is something you want to buy along with your gear oil when swapping gears, or just doing maintenance with your differential. It will make sure that your trac-lok system works the way it was intended. No one wants a "One Tire Fire", spent a few extra dollars to buy this and make sure that doesnt happen to you.

I have used several different friction modifiers in numerous vehicles. In my opinion, this one holds up better than the rest. After severe track conditions, the wear on the parts is less which means I do not have to replace major components as often.

    Friction modifier

    March 22, 2013

Great product, and easy to put in. Feels like the rear end is rolling smoother and there is no noise. Both tires light every time now even when doing clockwise donuts. Good product ++

    Trusted brand

    March 22, 2013

My local shop that installs gears suggested that I use the Ford Racing Friction Modifier when going with my 3.73's. He stated that he's always had great service out of this product and uses it all the time instead of the other brands. I value his opinion since he's been setting rear-ends up for 30+ years and his word is good enough for me.

    Makes no difference

    July 25, 2014

I have used Ford's XL-18 for the transmission and the friction modifier for rear gears and have not noticed any difference with these additives.
