Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey everyone, I’m Justin with And I’m checking out these GT500 Style Pedal Covers for our automatic and manual ’05 to ’09 Mustangs. The stock pedal covers in your S197 Mustang were certainly not designed with style in mind. Their ugly, boring, and chances are have probably seen better days. That’s where these covers really shine, literally. These covers give your interior an instant boost of class and style. These pedals were designed to the original factory specifications using the same high quality materials found in the newer GT500 Mustangs. Depending on your car, you’ll either receive the gas, brake, and dead pedal for you automatic guys. And for you manual cars your going to receive the gas, brake, clutch, and dead pedal. Now the install is very straight forward and should only take you fifteen to thirty minutes. Now a little install tip before you get started: it’s a great idea to let your brake and clutch pedal sit in hot or boiling water for a few minutes just to make the rubber a little more pliable. Now your first step is to remove your rubber factory pedal covers and get them out of the way. Install your brake and clutch pedal first, and then move over to your accelerator. You’ll find that very easy thanks to the 3m tape located on the back of this piece. Once your done with that, go ahead and move over to your dead pedal where it bolts on to the factory location. Install couldn’t be easier. There is no question that these covers will be a dramatic improvement to your interior for a price that’s hard to beat. So if you want to enjoy a little bit of that awesome GT500 attitude on your ride, be sure to check out these pedal covers today.

Race Inspired Styling. Now you can ditch those ugly stock rubber pedal covers and replace them with a set of GT500 styled pedals from AmericanMuscle for a race inspired custom interior.

OEM Quality. Made from high quality OEM materials to the original factory specifications these, Mustang Pedal Covers look and feel just like the ones that were originally only available in the Shelby GT500 Mustangs.

Installation. This set of four (4) GT500 Style Pedal Covers can be easily and quickly installed. The Brake and Clutch Pedal Covers features a simple slip-on installation, the Accelerator Cover is adhered via two way automotive bonding tape and the included Dead Pedal mounts easily via a factory bolt.

Application. This set of GT500 Style Pedals Covers is designed to fit 2005 to 2014 Mustangs with a manual transmission, including the V6, GT, Bullitt and BOSS 302 models. Will not fit the Premium 2010-2014 Mustangs.

  • the gas pedal cover will simply stick on by a two way automotive bonding tape

What is the warranty on these pedal covers? My clutch cover is already coming apart on the top. Lanny V.

  • The GT500 Style Pedal Cover's do not have a manufactures warranty, however, American Muscle offers an independent warranty for 30 days after purchase. If you can please give us a call, at your earliest convenience, we would be more than happy to amend the situation.

How do you install the dead pedal? I received the kit yesterday, got the three pedals installed - easy and look great. The dead pedal, have no idea how to install. No instructions in the box. Thanks.

  • Check around You Tube for the video, sorry I didn't save the link. Just pull the door sill panel and then the side quarter panel and the bolt is easy to see.

Dead pedal installation It's not clear to me where the dead pedal gets attached. Will it be obvious when I remove that interior panel near the clutch pedal? What type/size bolt?

  • When you pull out the kick panel and pull the carpet back, you will see the bolt. I believe it was a 13 mm bolt. Just loosen it enough to slide the dead pedal's "U" shaped flange over it, then tighten the bolt.

The stock brake and clutch pedals are too small for me. Are these somewhat larger. I realize they have to be some larger to slip over stock pedals.

  • No they are not. The dimensions are exactly the same as stock...the appearance is different.

Only 2 out of 4 petals fit...

I have a 2014 Mustang GT. The clutch and brake pedals installed with no issues. A bit tight but I suppose that's good so they're nice and secure. However, when I went to put on the gas pedal, it didn't fit. I peeled off the tape and pressed very firmly and the tape didn't make contact with the OEM pedal underneath. I tried re-aligning several times to no success. I believe the tapered edges on the gas pedal cover is preventing it from being flush against the OEM gas pedal. Lastly, the dead pedal. I don't know if this is an issue with the 2014 model Mustang, but after I got the dead pedal securely in place and bolted down, the carpet would not go back. I tried tucking the carpet in between the dead pedal and the foam to the right/underneath but that didn't work. The only thing I can think of is if I cut my carpet to make it fit, but I am definitely not going to do that. So at this moment I only have 2 out of the 4 pedals fit....

    For Show only

I drive about 15000 mi a year, mostly not highway miles. For the clutch pedal: the rubber grooves broke off almost immediately, and the metal face followed by about another 2 weeks. Now its down to the rubber backing and it works ok. Not worth the price!

    Product as advertised

Cleans up the pedals, my only complaint, I don't like the way the gas pedal mounts with tape, for the price, design it to put two countersunk holes in it, and screw it directly to the stock pedal. other then that, they loOK and feel great.

    Great product.....if you have patience.

These are some really nice looking replacement pedals. The gas pedal doesn't feel as sturdy as the others, guess thats cause it just sticks on. Mine came with the 3m tape, but the pedal came off easily when i bumped it trying to install the brake pedal, so i took off the tape and used clear silicone adhesive. As far as the brake and clutch, definitely want to put them in boiling water for a while and use some soap. Instead of a picking tool, i used a PAINT CAN OPENER! It made a huge difference. I haven't tried to instal the dead pedal yet, but once i do ill try and leave detailed tips cause i haven't seen too much on how to instal that piece.

The stock pedals look horrible. These new pedals are awesome and fit great. The trick is to submerge in hot water as they say and then slid the pedal onto the top lip first , then work down the side lips and finally slid bottom part of the lip last. Parts were out of stock for awhile, but American Muscle came thru and at a much better price than anyone else. Also their shipping process is tops compared to anyone else. It would be nice if the double side tape was included , but at the great price who cares.

I have less than 5000 miles on a set and there worn down already. No hard driving and no rough soles on my shoes. The rubber compound on the Brake and Clutch pedals are soft. The Gas pedal compound seems to be black plastic which works great. I do not recommend for nothing but a show car...

    Read the Reviews Here First!

I got these pedals on the special promotion AM was running. After reading the reviews and helpful hints here first, the install was tedious, but not all that difficult. I soaked the clutch and brake pedals in hot water for a few minutes, liberally coated the rubber edges with dish soap, and used a paint-can opener to help coax them on. The hardest part for me was just trying to work in the limited space of the footwell. I have the Lloyd floormats with the separate flap that covers the dead-pedal area, so I did not install the dead-pedal.

    Tight fit

For $55 these remain a good buy. I ripped the clutch pedal rubber trying to force these on. I did heat them up in water pre attempting installation. Do your self a favour and use a curved tool of some type to force them on. Also, installing the dead pedal takes a little guess work. The gas pedal 3M tape did not stay adhered. I pulled out an old pack of 3M adhesion promoter and the tape is now rock solid stuck in place. Having a gas pedal cover fall off is not cool, so you may want to save time and get adhesion promoter before you make an install attempt. AM did send me a new set of covers when I contacted them about the ripped rubber. Their after sales policy is outstanding. I did recommend to AM that adding a pack of adhesive promoter would make sense. Lets see what they do. All in, I would recommend these.

    GT500 Pedals

Bought these from AM last summer. I didn't end up putting them on right away and then the winter hit and car was in storage. Went to put them on tonight and realized the box didn't have any instructions. I then realized the accelerator pedal didn't have any way of mounting and after checking out this site, realized I'm also likely missing the 3M tape that was to be included. Looks like a decent product, but I will need to go buy some tape if I want to install. I just received a brown box with 4 pieces in it.

The 3M shoul already be attached to the back of the pedal. However, if it's missing, please give us a call and we can send you some additional tape so you can get these installed! Please reference the installation guide on the product page as well!

These pedal covers really add "life" to your stock pedals!

I am so happy I purchased these pedal covers, they add class to the otherwise dull-looking stock pedal covers. Installation was not bad at all. After soaking the brake and clutch covers in hot water, I used an old fashioned beer can opener to help pry on the new pedal covers.

    GT500 pedal style covers

I wasn't going to review these covers because everyone else here thought they were great. But I changed my mind. I bought these but I didn't put them on my 2013 Mustang GT. There isn't a choice in the review questions to say that. I would recommend these pedal covers only for those who have the time and skill to put them on. I gave up on the clutch and brake covers. And I read everyone's comments about how to make it easier. That didn't work for me. I think the 3M tape that came with the accelerator pedal is not strong enough to keep it secured to the stock cover for a long period of time because after I repositioned it once it didn't stick as well to the cover. You could use something to make it permanent but I didn't want to do that. And I noticed that it was easy to scratch the chrome finish of the covers. They do look great new but how would they hold up with use. I'm staying with the stock covers for the reasons I talked about.

Not worth the price in my opinion

I just put these on my 2014 base coupe. The clutch and brake are a bear to get on. I soaked them in HOT water for a while which may or may not have helped, but I applied some dish soap, which I think did help. I am disappointed in the gas pedal fitment and attachment method. I anticipate it coming lose in a short while. Be sure to clean the factory gas pedal thoroughly before sticking on the new one. And the dead pedal... Gave up on that one. Have to to a fair bit of interior panel removal to get to the "existing bolt" location. My car has 500 miles on it, too soon for me to encourage squeaks and rattles by tearing it apart. All in all, after spending the money, how often do I really see my pedals anyways?
