Are the two Red Candy paint codes U6 & RZ acutally the same color? My 2013 Red Candy paint code on the door is RZ. Will the pre-painted GT500 style spoiler with paint code U6 be a good match for my car? I did not see any pre-pained parts with the new Ford color code RZ.

    • They are essentially the same paint color. Working at a Ford dealer, one of our supply issues last year (2011) was the metallic paints such as the Red Candy because they were manufactured in Japan. With the tsunami event in Japan, it harmed the supplier for mainly the Red Candy and the Blue Flame paints offered on Ford vehicles. This caused a shortage in vehicles with that color temporarily, so Ford had to find another supplier to maintain the demand for those colors of vehicles. This is mainly where the paint code change came from. They are essentially the same color, just made from a different supplier.

Mustang rear spoilers my 2011 Mustang does not have a rear spoiler on it. what is needed to install the GT500 style spoiler on it? Does it come with a templet for drilling the holes in the deck lid? on a scale of 1-10; with 10 being very hard what is the level of the install?

    • Honestly, I don't think i would attempt drilling the holes. If you mess up you DO NOT get a second chance. If i were you i would take it to a reputable shop. I had a local shop quote me for $125 for the installation of a spoiler.

Do the holes matchup if you have an existing spoiler? In the description it says that the existing holes will be covered by the wing and that drilling two new holes is required. When reading some of reviews, they don't mention having to drill new holes and that the wing is a good fit. Sorry im a little confused so my question is "Will I have to drill new holes after I remove the stock wing or will the existing holes match-up with the new wing?"

    • Yes they do match up. If you don't have an existing spoiler they have to drill the holes but it does come with a template to make sure they are accurate.

From stock OEM blah to American Muscle WOW in under an hour!

My spoiler arrived in perfect condition. Packaging and condition of box upon arrival A+ Condition of spoiler A+ Hardware A+ Instructions A (last step talks about installing the grille? Typo?) Paint match A++ The hardest part about this install is removing the factory spoiler, if so equipped. The factory must have used Superman's personal superglue as it did not want to budge. But after some gentle prying and using a razor blade to carefully cut the factory tape as carefully as possible, it finally started to move enough to get at the rest of the tape and cut it. It is best to have someone hold one end of the spoiler while carefully lifting as you trim the factory tape. Cleaning the residue off is another trick. After fighting using alcohol pads, straight rubbing alcohol and rags, I finally just resorted to using my fingers and palms to apply pressure and frictional heat to "roll" the factory tape off the trunk lid. That actually worked perfectly. A heat gun or hair dryer might have sped up the process. One bit of advice, use caution when removing the 10mm nuts from the OEM spoiler studs. If your trunk is fully open and they fall out of your socket when unscrewing, they will disappear into the trunk frame. Thankfully I recognized this as a potential problem and prevented it by capturing the nut with my fingers. Also, use caution on the two inner most holes as those two have very sharp edges. Cuts avoided as well. Installation was a breeze. Just make sure you apply firm pressure to the tape areas a few times during the day to help it form a perfect seal. And lastly, before you install it, now is the time to use a soft cloth and remove all the wax residue in spots that will be impossible to get to once it is installed. I have a 2011 GT in Sterling Grey Metallic and the paint matched perfectly. Excellent job AM crew. Thanks American Muscle. You definitely have my continued business.

      GT 500 Style Spoiler

I did not have a stock spoiler on my 2010 GT and honestly did not like what Ford was offering for a wing. After weeks of going back and forth on what type of spoiler style would best fit, I decided to order this GT 500 style spoiler. The results were amazing! The spoiler definitely gave the car a new and more aggressive look. Easy to install, along with very quick delivery from the folks at American Muscle! Excellent choice...

This spoiler completely changes appearance of the whole car! I bought my stang with a spoiler delete option so the back looked bald and outbalanced compared to somewhat aggressive designed factory front end. This GT500 wing definitely helped making my car look whole and it fits so well one might think it came with it factory. I was a little worried about how close it's going to be to original paint, but it matches perfectly. Good job AM! Also it came fast and undamaged, not even a tiniest scratch on it. PS. The only thing Im not happy about is that I couldn't find any instructions as to where to drill holes in the trunk, since I didn't have a factory spoiler I had to measure out and match to the wing all four holes which took forever, and I still had to make them bigger at the end for it to sit perfectly on the trunk... ugh.

      3DCarbon awesomeness

The GT500 style spoiler was perfectly painted to match my 5.0 was easy to install and dropped in perfectly where the factory spoiler was with no difficulty. Make sure you take your time and tape around the factory spoiler just to be sure you don't scratch anything but this was completely worth the time it took. all in all it took about two hours to put in the look is amazing, larger, more agressive but not gaudy and looks nothing like the shopping cart style I see on alot of stangs (sadly). One last thing to whomever packaged my spoiler! Thank You, i don't know what happened in shipping but when it got to my door my heart sank the box looked like it was at the bottom of the truck or went through a shredder. Thanks to AM packaging though the wing it self had no chips scratches or cracks.

      Nice Spoiler

The packaging was good however the left tip was damaged (about 1/8 inch) where the paint scraped off. I would have sent it back but I had some OEM touchup paint that took care of it. This would have been the second prepainted part I sent back because of a paint defect however I didn't feel like waiting for another one even though AM customer service is top notch and they would have made it right. For the price I think a little more detail should go into the finishing. The spoiler also has some minor dings in the plastic that were painted over. The install was easy but even though I centered it perfectly on the trunk, one of the holes on the spoiler didn't line up enough to get the supplied screw in. I used a smaller screw to secure it. The fit could be a little better as the left tip sits almost 1/4 inch higher than the right tip over the quarter panel.

I recieved this spoiler in 2 days, it came nicely packaged, not a scratch on it and the paint, as usual, was a perfect match and of stunning quality! Installation took less than 2 hours. Put lots of masking tape all around your old spoiler to prevent scratches, grab a pie spatula, the flexible type with the rounded tip, and a hair dryer, and gently work it in all around under the spoiler prying up slightly. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DRILL HOLES. This spoiler is a direct bolt in! High quality part that looks incredible. Replaces that really lame factory spoiler! Highly recommended!

      Should Have Came This Way

Straight out of the box the color is perfect, the packaging superb. The wing fits exactly where the factory wing was mounted with no modifications. Take your time with the tape, its worth the effort to ensure the seal is perfect. Love the look of the larger wing, looks factory and not gawdy. Again AM, thank you for marketing yet another great part. r,

      GT500 spoiler

I had ordered the GT500 spoiler for my 14 5.0 and I had received it 3 days later. It was packaged wonderfully and the paint matched the car to perfection. If u pull a "DIY", I recommend a heat gun with 30lb fishing line to get the factory 3M tape off and rub it off with your thumb. U might get a blister but it's worth it in the end. I DID NOT need to drill, the factory holes were covered and used so that's a plus and be careful not to scratch the paint. Overall install was about 1hr and 30min. Not too bad but then again the end result will make u forget about the overall installation. I HIGHLY recommend this product if you're looking to add that iconic GT500 look to the back end of your mustang.
