Will these work with 1994 Mustang stock exhaust Hello, I have a 1994 Ford Mustang V6. I am hearing a lot about these mufflers, but that they only sound best with X-Pipes. If I have stock exhaust will these then sound bad or should I go for a different muffler? I did not want to get an obnoxious noise or popping because I did not have X-Pipes. Any clarity here? Thanks... :-)

  • Any muffler is better than the stock ones. these should be fine and I don't here a big difference if any at all with the X-pipes.

How would these sound as just a weld in with everything else stock? Don't want anything overly loud.

  • I have stock headers, stock midpipe, and the pypes M80's on my 88 lx. You wont be disappointed once you get them installed. I didnt want anything overly loud as well, just a low grumble. They sound really clean and healthy and your mustang wont sound overly obnoxious.

Does this muffler need to be welded during installation? Or can it just be clamped?

  • Most muffler installations require welding to keep stray exhaust gases from entering your vehicle cabin. Muffler installers always check for leaks as the last step in an installation.

Would these fit with the MAC dual exhaust conversion kit? I had recently purchased and had installed the MAC dual exhaust conversion kit on my 2003 3.8L V6. i was wondering if it would be possible to cut away the mufflers that came with the kit and weld in these bad boys?

  • Look at the installs of customer photos that are listed with this muffler description. It can be done, but you should run it by your muffler install shop for the best possible outcome. Some people replace the offset mufflers on their V8's with adapters while others just dump them underneath the frame without routing them to the rear bumper cover. It's your choice, but you must be willing to make some adjustments to make 'em work. Make sure it's the sound you want before switching out.

Good for Turbo mustangs? I have a turbo mustang gt and right now I have a chambered muffler and I want to go to a straight through design like this. Would these pair up well with a turbo car?

  • They will sound very different than what you're hearing now, but would work fine. If you like a higher pitched, raspy tone this is the way to go.

Will this muffler be able to be welded on directly to my stock 03 v6 or are other purchases necessary for it to fit?

  • This will work perfect to directly replace your stock muffler and really open up your exhaust.

    Pypes M80's

Ordered these after reading many reviews. I was really looking for some relief from the drone of the 2-chamber Flowmasters. Like many others who have reviewed here I will say these are definitely quieter at idle and light cruising. They come alive when you get on it! It's a very different sound than the Flows (at least from inside the car), won't say I like it better. In my own humble opinion I do think the Flows sound better on a Fox than these but they did produce the result I was after. Sounds more like a modern 5.0 (or I'm going tone deaf from the years of drone :P). They did in fact reduce much of the drone. There is still some there but my migraines will certainly appreciate the reduction! Is it a cheap muffler? I say yes in cost only. It's well built and nicely finished. Is it good value? Yes! My exhaust consists of stainless unequal length shorties into a BBK X-pipe with cats, on into (now) these M80's and out through 2.5" tails. I would definitely recommend these to a fox body owner if you are looking for Flowmaster alternatives!

Great sound in an affordable package

I have went through 4 different sets of mufflers before finding these and I absolutely love them. My exhaust setup is hooker shorties, 2.5 inch downpipes, 2.5 inch off road H pipe, 2.5 inch dynomax flowtubes, the m80 mufflers, and 3 inch flowmaster tailpipes. These are cheaper than anything els I have found and so far have the best sound as well. Why spend $100 each on some spintechs, magnaflows, or flowmasters when you can get 2 of the m80s that sound better and flow better for less than $100 shipped? I will now be using these on all of my builds when it comes time for exhaust. They are mild but noticeable at idle and when you get on it they really let you know it.

    These Mufflers Are Wicked

I took the Flowmasters off and replaced them with these M80s. I didn't know what to expect, but let me tell you these mufflers sound absolutely W I C K E D! If you're listening to video on youtube to get an idea of what these sound like, the videos do not do justice. You have to "be there" for your ears to really get the full effect. hahahaaaa Just be careful and easy on the accelerator while in town! Thanks , great service! (as usual) ☺

Pypes M80 on 2005 Mustang GT

well i had these installed on my 2005 mustang, im not a big fan of axle backs, when i first had them installed my setup was BBK long tube headers with an Offroad H pipe. the sound was really throaty not too loud or high pitched just a good rumble until really got on high revs they would drone really bad with the offroad H two weeks later i took the H pipe off and put an Offroad X-pipe on and it sounded waaaaay rasp or drone at all with these mufflers and the X pipe suggestion to anyone looking to get these is to couple it with an off -road X-pipe, its a lot louder and has a cleaner throatier sound than with the H-pipe overall good mufflers and for the price definitely worth it!!

I had researched these mufflers on youtube and was in love ever since. I knew this was the exhaust my car needed to have! So i ordered them the next day from AM and wow did i receive them fast. I got them in about 4 days and was very pleased with the service yet again here at AM. The following day i had these mufflers installed at my local exhaust shop and couldn't wait to here what they sounded like. I am also running an off road x-pipe on my 2008 GT. After they were installed I started the car up and WOW! You Tube did not do these mufflers any justice. They sounded 100 times better in person. Pypes really nailed it with these M-80 Mufflers. This is truly how a mustang is supposed to sound. I highly recommend this product. It is high quality at a very reasonable price. Everyone always asks me what kind of mufflers I am running on my Mustang, and I am always proud to say Pypes M-80 Bullet Mufflers. Thanks a lot AM!!!

    Do not buy!!

I bought these and boy do i regret it. There extremly loud and im not talkin about a good loud either. Really raspy almost sound like a truck with straight pipe. If you go past 2500 rpms you might as well turn the radio off. Sorry should of stuck with magnaflows but that's what you get for trying to save a buck.

    Sounds Awsome!

These mufflers really brought out the mean sound in my 2000 Mustang GT. Had an Off-road X pipe and the M-80's installed at a local exhaust shop and it turns heads everywhere i drive. I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy these or SLP Loudmouth, but the price caught my eye and was no doubt the right choice! Great Item, Thanks American Muscle.

Quiet in the neighborhood, mean on the street.

Perfect fit with the Pypes "flow tubes" and some cheap auto part store turndown tips. A little weld to put on the hangers or some ingenuity with a pipe clamp and some wire and these will be the last exhaust you need. Racey growl with Pypes offroad X-pipe, no popping or obnoxious noises, makes a Mustang sound like a Mustang. If you like the 2 chamber drone these are NOT the muffler to buy, if you want Ferrari and lambos to take a second look at you these ARE the mufflers to buy. Happy Stangin'

    WOW just WOW

ok so i did a ton of research before i pulled the trigger on these, and it still never answered all of my questions so im gonna answer them here in case anyone else is on the fence. Yes they are cheaper than most setups, no it does not reflect the quality at all, they are pretty much built the same as the borla stingers. I had flowmaster 40 series cat back on my car before these, once i added my 4.10s the drone was crazy on the freeway so i started looking for a straight thru muffler, well these have no drone and are nice and mild at crusing speed. I also wanted loud but not annoying, after listening to some LM1s in person they were loud but realy high in the tone and didnt sound great on a o/r x pipe. These on the other hand have a really nice deep ton and wow do they wake up when you get on it, its was really suprising how great they sounded and i could tell a big difference in the low end torque thanks to them breathig way better than the flows. Bottom line they are not a big name that you can brag about, but once you hit it you wont need to brag they do all the talking for you, save you money and run these instead of the high priced name brands, they sound better are built just as good and wow your stang will be fun all over again.

    My car sounds great now!

Well, after noticing my mustang needed new mufflers (mine were all rusted out), I started searching for some good mufflers to install. I was looking at glasspacks, but wasn't sure were to start. I was looking at these and read all the 5 star reviews. So I decided to take the plunge and order a couple. Oh my god these are great! I haven't really made any performance upgrades to my mustang (but I want to now!) They have a great throaty sound. They're quiet enough for every day driving, but when you romp on the gas they get nice and loud. I went to go show a buddy of mine, and by the time I got to his house he was already standing in the driveway because he heard me a block away at the stop sign just romping on the gas a couple times. Im very happy with these mufflers and will shop on this site more often :-)
