Love these bad boys

What ever you do don't waste your money on slp & etc. These sound just as good if not better. I just welded them into the middle of the car and made my own cat back system. Sounds great. Thanks AM once ...

Will this fit a stock single exhaust V6 Mustang? Or will I have to swap to a Dual Exhaust (which I don't have the money for) Just trying to make it sound louder and meaner.

  • You do not need to do a dual exhaust swap to install this and have this work.

I have a 98 V6 mustang. Will this fit on the stock 2.25 inch piping?

98stang

  • This style muffler will work on your 98 V6 Mustang. It is a clamp on installation, so the small size difference should not cause any problems.

Will this pass emissions testing?

  • This muffler is not CARB legal so it may not pass emissions in your area.

All of the pictures I've seen have shown this muffler connected to a dual exhaust. I was wondering if it would still sound the same if it were put on an all stock 04 mustang V6?

Drew

  • Hi, This Pypes M-80 Bullet Style Muffler wont sound exactly the same on a V6 as a V8 but it will sound pretty similar.

what size of pipe for exhaust will sound the best on a v6 with the flowmaster 44

joe

  • It is difficult to recommend any type of exhaust pieces since every person will have a different opinion on how they want their car to sound. Unfortunately I cannot recommend any size pipe for you but generally the bigger the piping the louder and deeper the sound will be. The smaller than piping, the quieter the exhaust will be but it will have more of a tone to it.

In Regards To A 96 V6 I hav a 96 v6 that Ive put mch wrk into howevr; it being a v6 I am still not gettin the desired result. I currently hav installed FlowMaster 44's via H pipe, Shortys and CAI. I wanted Longtubes but clearrance was a prob but anyways my question is. Would swapping the 44's for the M80 be a bad idea, I'm trying to get a louder yet deeper growl? Thanks In Advance.

Mafia

  • With the M-80 Bullet Style Muffler being a single chambered muffler compared to the Flowmaster being a bigger multi chambered muffler, you will definitely notice a louder deeper tone by swapping them out. I would recommend looking up some sound and video clips of these Pypes M-80 Bullet Style Mufflers!

    NICE SOUND!!!

I wanted to replace my Flowmaster 40s, and get more sound out of my 4.6 2v. I went with m80s because of what I read and heard on the internet. I lost some of that old school muscle car sound provided by the 40s, and my o/r h-pipe but definitely gained some decibels especially under wot while killing a lot of highway speed drone. As a side note the labor was a little much at $305, or maybe I just got screwed. The 40s were offset/offset design, and the m80s straight through design. So at least for my particular application it seems I would have been money ahead to purchase the pype-bomb cat-back system. All that said the M80s pump out GREAT SOUND!!!!

    Pypes M80's

Ordered these after reading many reviews. I was really looking for some relief from the drone of the 2-chamber Flowmasters. Like many others who have reviewed here I will say these are definitely quieter at idle and light cruising. They come alive when you get on it! It's a very different sound than the Flows (at least from inside the car), won't say I like it better. In my own humble opinion I do think the Flows sound better on a Fox than these but they did produce the result I was after. Sounds more like a modern 5.0 (or I'm going tone deaf from the years of drone :P). They did in fact reduce much of the drone. There is still some there but my migraines will certainly appreciate the reduction! Is it a cheap muffler? I say yes in cost only. It's well built and nicely finished. Is it good value? Yes! My exhaust consists of stainless unequal length shorties into a BBK X-pipe with cats, on into (now) these M80's and out through 2.5" tails. I would definitely recommend these to a fox body owner if you are looking for Flowmaster alternatives!

Great sound in an affordable package

I have went through 4 different sets of mufflers before finding these and I absolutely love them. My exhaust setup is hooker shorties, 2.5 inch downpipes, 2.5 inch off road H pipe, 2.5 inch dynomax flowtubes, the m80 mufflers, and 3 inch flowmaster tailpipes. These are cheaper than anything els I have found and so far have the best sound as well. Why spend $100 each on some spintechs, magnaflows, or flowmasters when you can get 2 of the m80s that sound better and flow better for less than $100 shipped? I will now be using these on all of my builds when it comes time for exhaust. They are mild but noticeable at idle and when you get on it they really let you know it.

    These Mufflers Are Wicked

I took the Flowmasters off and replaced them with these M80s. I didn't know what to expect, but let me tell you these mufflers sound absolutely W I C K E D! If you're listening to video on youtube to get an idea of what these sound like, the videos do not do justice. You have to "be there" for your ears to really get the full effect. hahahaaaa Just be careful and easy on the accelerator while in town! Thanks AmericanMuscle.com , great service! (as usual) ☺

Pypes M80 on 2005 Mustang GT

well i had these installed on my 2005 mustang, im not a big fan of axle backs, when i first had them installed my setup was BBK long tube headers with an Offroad H pipe. the sound was really throaty not too loud or high pitched just a good rumble until really got on it...at high revs they would drone really bad with the offroad H two weeks later i took the H pipe off and put an Offroad X-pipe on and it sounded waaaaay better...no rasp or drone at all with these mufflers and the X pipe combined...my suggestion to anyone looking to get these is to couple it with an off -road X-pipe, its a lot louder and has a cleaner throatier sound than with the H-pipe overall good mufflers and for the price definitely worth it!!

THIS IS HOW A MUSTANG SHOULD SOUND!!!

I had researched these mufflers on youtube and was in love ever since. I knew this was the exhaust my car needed to have! So i ordered them the next day from AM and wow did i receive them fast. I got them in about 4 days and was very pleased with the service yet again here at AM. The following day i had these mufflers installed at my local exhaust shop and couldn't wait to here what they sounded like. I am also running an off road x-pipe on my 2008 GT. After they were installed I started the car up and WOW! You Tube did not do these mufflers any justice. They sounded 100 times better in person. Pypes really nailed it with these M-80 Mufflers. This is truly how a mustang is supposed to sound. I highly recommend this product. It is high quality at a very reasonable price. Everyone always asks me what kind of mufflers I am running on my Mustang, and I am always proud to say Pypes M-80 Bullet Mufflers. Thanks a lot AM!!!

    Great Muscle Car Sound!!!

I used this product on my 2007 V6 and it works, fit, and sounds great. I was debating on these due to AM's listing saying "(79-04)", but read a couple reviews and saw others used them on their S197 Mustangs and tried them out. So i have Pypes V6 Cut And Clamp X-Pipe with these and created a custom True Dual Side Exhaust and it sounds amazing! I get compliments and looks all the time "It sounds like an 8!". Definitely not a "cheap" product it is well worth the money for them. i\I would pay more for them even they're very durable/HD and sound great. DEFINITE BUY IF WANTING OLD FASHION MUSCLE CAR RUMBLE AND GROWL!!!!

    Do not buy!!

I bought these and boy do i regret it. There extremly loud and im not talkin about a good loud either. Really raspy almost sound like a truck with straight pipe. If you go past 2500 rpms you might as well turn the radio off. Sorry should of stuck with magnaflows but that's what you get for trying to save a buck.

This is the first I've heard someone disappointed with the sound these mufflers give off. I'd suggest coupling these with an O/R X-pipe as some others have commented that the two combined sounds great. If you'd like, please contact our Experts and they'd be more than willing to help you find the sound your looking for!

    Sounds Awsome!

These mufflers really brought out the mean sound in my 2000 Mustang GT. Had an Off-road X pipe and the M-80's installed at a local exhaust shop and it turns heads everywhere i drive. I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy these or SLP Loudmouth, but the price caught my eye and was no doubt the right choice! Great Item, Thanks American Muscle.

Quiet in the neighborhood, mean on the street.

Perfect fit with the Pypes "flow tubes" and some cheap auto part store turndown tips. A little weld to put on the hangers or some ingenuity with a pipe clamp and some wire and these will be the last exhaust you need. Racey growl with Pypes offroad X-pipe, no popping or obnoxious noises, makes a Mustang sound like a Mustang. If you like the 2 chamber drone these are NOT the muffler to buy, if you want Ferrari and lambos to take a second look at you these ARE the mufflers to buy. Happy Stangin'
