I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I’m going to be taking a closer look at the Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-Back Exhaust system for all 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. The first thing you’ll notice when taking a look at the Pypes kit is that there is no muffler incorporated into the design whatsoever. However, you get this massive 4 inch tip, which is resonated, and that’s going to help keep the excessive popping to a minimum. Since this is a straight through muffler delete system, you can expect maximum flow and an extremely aggressive exhaust note. We do actually have this kit installed on our 2007 bolt-on build up in conjunction with Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe, and let me tell you, it’s one of the loudest exhausts I’ve ever heard. The entire kit’s constructed from 100% 304 grade stainless steel and should bolt on easily in about an hour’s time using some basic hand tools. Now let’s hear how Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

Was really easy to install and looks great. Sounds much better than just a regular Muffler delete which I had before this.Helpful (0)

Pypes pype bomb axle back
Bought for my daughter's 07 gt and she loves the exhaust. Easy to install and it seems to be good quality. Wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.Helpful (0)

Muffler Delete But More Toned
Muffler when on the throttle without sounding hollow and tinny on deceleration. 4/5 stars on loudness because it's not as loud as others make it out to be (this vs. actual muffler delete is noticeably quieter). 4/5 on fitment, because I had to weld on new hangers to put these on with my Roush Bumper. It drones, but not enough to bother me. I loved these when I ran them alone, now I run them with an offroad x pipe. It's REALLY LOUD but I love the way it sounds.Helpful (1)

Not the greatest fit
The exhaust sounds fantastic. The install was not the smoothest. Took a lot to get the pipes to line up in the cut outs properly. One of the hanger brackets on the passenger side was not even close. Had to cut it off and reweld it. Other than that great product and super fast shippingHelpful (0)

Great but doesn't fit easy
The product came fast and sounds fantastic! Would highly recommend if you are looking for a nice, clean, deep note. Volume is definitely louder but not deafening with no noticeable drone. However, this will NOT fit a 2010! Had to take it to a shop to cut and re-weld the hangers. Highly recommend but beware.Helpful (0)

Pairs well with the cut and clamp x-pipe from pypes. With x-pipe it drones very little to none. Fitment was odd but,if the clamps are loosened after the factory h-pipe, it all can be adjusted accordingly. Great product.Helpful (0)

Awesome Pypes (pipes)
Great pipes. Installation is easy, fits perfectly onto our 2006 Mustang GT convertible. Sound is awesome, strong and deep. Just a mean sounding system.Helpful (0)

If only these were stock by Ford
First off, if you want a perfect fit go to your local muffler shop because one of the sides are not even with the other as one is flushed and the other is not. I'll installed the mufflers at home with no problems though I would highly recommend having second hands to help you but, it was easy and anyone can do it with commitment. But overall, it made me fall in love with my project Mustang, even more, the more I drove it and the notes at low speed and gush the higher RPMs are just muscle as you get. Doesn't have the top-notch note as the Borlas' but this is considered my 2nd favorite set of the axle-back exhaust!Helpful (0)
I have a 2006 GT. The majority of reviewers mentioned, in some instances complained, that the left pipe sticks out further than the right. Has the company addressed this and corrected it? No point in spending this kind of money on a product that doesn't fit right.
This issue has been addressed yes.
What is the weight of this exhaust in comparison with the stock?
I installed them on my 2010 Mustang GT Premium and they are much lighter than the stock mufflers I replaced. They bolted up perfectly without any adjustment and sound mean and throaty. You will completely enjoy the change.
I have an 05’ v6 with the ford performance true dual conversion. How much modification if any would be necessary to install this exhaust or any axle-back v8 exhaust on my car? Also does anyone know how much of a difference sound wise this will this make for a v6 (I’m looking for a louder deeper sound but nothing too obnoxious just noticeable)? Does anyone have any videos/sound clips of it or a similar setup on a v6?
I have an 08 GT that I was looking to order these pipes for. I see several posts about the fitment not being correct and having to get someone to weld new hangers. I am a DIY'er and do not own a welder. I would like to know if anyone has experience with these pipes for the 08 GT. Am I going to need to have someone install these or will they fit properly? I am handy but do not have access to a welder.
I am looking to install this on my 08 GT. I see several comments on fitment. I would like to do this myself but do not have a welder. Am i going to have issues as a do it yourselfer?
Welding is not required for install, and installation can be done with basic handtools and mechanical skill.
This axle-back and the SLP loudmouth axle-back would both eliminate the mufflers giving a similar tone and volume.
To ensure an an accurate preview of what you'd get when upgrading from a fully stock exhaust setup, this video was done with the stock h-pipe.
These wouldn't sound too bad with a catted x-pipe in my personal opinion but that doesn't mean you would agree as the exhaust sound would have to do with your personal preference. We would recommend looking up sound clips with the exhausts you are looking at with a similar build to see which you would like better. As for comparing both this and the Roush, the Roush would have a less drone than this one here and would have more of an aggressive sound in my opinion.
This will not fit V6 models.
The Flowmaster Outlaws will be the louder than the Pype-Bomb axle-backs.
The Flowmaster Outlaws will be the louder than the Pype-Bombs.
I would recommend the Pype bombs over the muffler deletes if you're looking for a louder exhaust sound, but nothing obnoxious.
The SLP Loudmouth, as a muffler delete, will be louder than the Pype's Pype Bomb as these use resonator tips.
We would recommend purchasing the BBK dual exhaust conversion kit https://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-dual-exhaust-0509v6.html,which includes an x-pipe that allows GT axle back exhausts to bolt up to your V6 without an issue. If you were looking for an H-pipe rather than an X-pipe, this Mac H-pipe would also fit with a GT axle-back exhaust: https://www.americanmuscle.com/mac-cutnclamp-prochamber-0509v6.html.
