    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I’m going to be taking a closer look at the Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-Back Exhaust system for all 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. The first thing you’ll notice when taking a look at the Pypes kit is that there is no muffler incorporated into the design whatsoever. However, you get this massive 4 inch tip, which is resonated, and that’s going to help keep the excessive popping to a minimum. Since this is a straight through muffler delete system, you can expect maximum flow and an extremely aggressive exhaust note. We do actually have this kit installed on our 2007 bolt-on build up in conjunction with Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe, and let me tell you, it’s one of the loudest exhausts I’ve ever heard. The entire kit’s constructed from 100% 304 grade stainless steel and should bolt on easily in about an hour’s time using some basic hand tools. Now let’s hear how Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Aggressive Sound. The Pypes "Pype-Bomb" Axle-Back with its Muffler Delete design provides the most aggressive sound and free flowing exhaust possible with the stock cats in place to produce more power that you can feel and hear.

Resonator Tips. The engineers at Pypes designed their new muffler delete exhaust system with specially engineered tips which include resonators to eliminate that loud annoying popping noise that other muffler delete kits can cause.

Application. This Pype-Bomb Axle-Back exhaust system is designed to fit the the 2005 to 2010 GT and Shelby GT500 Mustangs for show quality looks and impressive sound. This axle-back is made to be a direct bolt on to the stock location without any modifications required.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

What is the weight of this exhaust in comparison with the stock?

    • I installed them on my 2010 Mustang GT Premium and they are much lighter than the stock mufflers I replaced. They bolted up perfectly without any adjustment and sound mean and throaty. You will completely enjoy the change.

I have a 2006 GT. The majority of reviewers mentioned, in some instances complained, that the left pipe sticks out further than the right. Has the company addressed this and corrected it? No point in spending this kind of money on a product that doesn't fit right.

    • This issue has been addressed yes.

Pypes Bombs compared to pypes muffler delete. Which will be louder and not aggressive?

    • I would recommend the Pype bombs over the muffler deletes if you're looking for a louder exhaust sound, but nothing obnoxious.

      Great exhaust for the price

This exhaust sounds great added more noise without being obnoxious, it's an exhaust that can be heard close but won't wake the neighborhood when driving late at night. But it really opens up when you get on it perfect for daily driving and for when you want to let the bald eagles rip. Doesn't drone badly only around 2k rpms but in my 5sp I'm usually not at that rpm so it's not an issue. Install wasn't hard applied some wd-40 to loosen up the bolts and they came right out only compliant i have is the hangers aren't mounted correctly so one side sticks out more than the other, will have a shop fix that for me but other than that this exhaust is great for the price and looks mean too.

      Pypes on a 2010 GT

These sound great and are a good value for what you pay, very happy with them. The install however isn't as simple on a 2010 as unbolt your old ones and put these on in less than an hour, not if you follow the directions. Do yourself a favor and use dremel cutting tool to cut the hangers in two nearest the axle and then remove the hangar brackets.

      Personal opinion

I personally love it. It gives me that mustang rumble I love so much growing up and it has a really sexy pop noise around 5000-6000 rpms when in park. I couldn’t have asked more from a rear axle back exhaust.

Pypes Axle Backs - 2007 GT

Love the the exhaust note and quality, however, both axle back fit too low, I could not get them to fit higher into the pipe cutout at the rear of the car, there is almost a 2 inch gap from the top of the pipe to the bottom of the body cutout...the hanger posts are too long on the pipes...I may have to go to a muffler shop to have them cut and re-welded to fit higher into the cutout...a little disappointed.

      Pypes Pype Bombs

Pros: Loud! Look great. Fair price. Cons: Hangers didn’t fit my GT ‘07. Had to adjust midpipes, saw off notch, and bend one hanger so it didn’t rattle on chassis. At AM2018 I overheard a Pypes rep telling ‘07 GT owner that “it slips right on.” BS

Just what I was looking for.

Simple straightforward installation, only took me an hour. The sound is just what I wanted, loud when you get on it but toned out muscle car sound that is much better than just having a muffler delete. This exhaust is deceptively quiet inside the car and doesn't drone at all. Only complaint is that the left tip sticks out slightly further than the right one even with the replacement hangers. If you want an exhaust sound with the same stock tone just louder than this is for you.

      Good for the money

Love the tone. really brings out a growl when starting from stop. Livens up the sound dramatically. Took me longer to install because my stock axle back had not been touched and I didn't have any penetrating fluid. Took me three hours, but should not take any more if you have the right tools/materials. As for the actual "muffler" it was way easier to install. Would recomend getting new hangers if you're a little rusty, but I reused my old ones. Also keep in mind you may need to adjust your midpipe to get the tip to line up with your bumper. Mine is off, but im not fixing it yet, just something to think about. All said and done, I can't wait to drive now. Wish I would have done that a lot sooner.

Excellent, but not without a small flaw

I have had these for 7 years now, so I figured now is a good time to leave a proper review. (2006 GT) When I first installed these, I had to grind the nub off the stock tail pipe in order for these to slide on, After that, it was an easy bolt on. When I stood back and looked, I realised the left side stuck out further, so I messed with it more that day and settled with one side longer. A few years later I tried again as it annoyed me. Mine must have been made with a slight flaw in the hanger placement, because no matter what I did, I had to either settle with the left side hanging a little lower, or sticking out. I have settled with lower as it looks better. (only noticeable to me because I am picky, but my wife never noticed) Regarding the sound, Amazing! I now have the Ceramic coated long tube headers by Pacesetter along with a catted H mid pipe. With all of these, even driving slow sounds fantastic!
