    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I’m going to be taking a closer look at the Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-Back Exhaust system for all 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. The first thing you’ll notice when taking a look at the Pypes kit is that there is no muffler incorporated into the design whatsoever. However, you get this massive 4 inch tip, which is resonated, and that’s going to help keep the excessive popping to a minimum. Since this is a straight through muffler delete system, you can expect maximum flow and an extremely aggressive exhaust note. We do actually have this kit installed on our 2007 bolt-on build up in conjunction with Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe, and let me tell you, it’s one of the loudest exhausts I’ve ever heard. The entire kit’s constructed from 100% 304 grade stainless steel and should bolt on easily in about an hour’s time using some basic hand tools. Now let’s hear how Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Aggressive Sound. The Pypes "Pype-Bomb" Axle-Back with its Muffler Delete design provides the most aggressive sound and free flowing exhaust possible with the stock cats in place to produce more power that you can feel and hear.

Resonator Tips. The engineers at Pypes designed their new muffler delete exhaust system with specially engineered tips which include resonators to eliminate that loud annoying popping noise that other muffler delete kits can cause.

Application. This Pype-Bomb Axle-Back exhaust system is designed to fit the the 2005 to 2010 GT and Shelby GT500 Mustangs for show quality looks and impressive sound. This axle-back is made to be a direct bolt on to the stock location without any modifications required.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

What is the weight of this exhaust in comparison with the stock?

    Magoo10

    • I installed them on my 2010 Mustang GT Premium and they are much lighter than the stock mufflers I replaced. They bolted up perfectly without any adjustment and sound mean and throaty. You will completely enjoy the change.

Has anyone put this on a 2005 V6? If so how does it sound? I'm looking for deep and loud sound.

    TylerK

    • Pypes would be a great and cost efficient exhaust to go with! We do have a couple V6 owners that have left reviews on this exhaust. Check out our reviews to see what they have said about these!

How much power do you gain?

    KoleH

    • This axleback will gain you roughly 3-5 horsepower.

In terms of loudness tone, how do these compare to the Flowmaster Outlaws.

    NEP

    • The Pypes Pipe-Bomb axle-back exhaust will not be as loud as the Flowmaster Outlaw axle-back exhaust. The Outlaw will be some of the loudest available for the 2005-2010 GT & GT500 model Mustangs whereas the Pipe-Bomb from Pypes is a more mid range sound.

Any idea if ths is legal in NY or the Pypes muffler delete axle-back exhaust? Or will pass NY state emissions

    • You can check with your local authorities or the local emissions testing facility to see exactly what is legal in your state.

Would these be pretty loud with long tubes or should i get borla ataks with long tubes

    Archv

    • These axle-backs feature an aggressive tone. Your car will definitely be loud when paired with long tube headers.

now the exhaust matches the motor!

I put these on last after my CAI and my tune and my magnaflow high flow cats. totally changed the sound. I drove around for at least an hour just to hear the sweet rumble. NOW the car sounds like it should and I can hear and feel the exhaust where as before the sound of the motor overpowered the exhaust. depending on how far the foot is on the gas they are quiet when cruising but when you get on it then it comes alive. This is exactly why I wanted another v8 car...that sweet muscle car sound. I cant imagine wanting any louder but I know there are others out there that are. I think this is just right.

      Pypes exhaust

I absolutely love this product. My mustang really has a nasty tone to it that holds true until you step on it. It took no time at all to install but the brackets didn't fit as well as I'd hoped. All in all I highly recommend this product to anyone interested in making your mustang sound amazing without being too loud.

Installed in a 2005 mustang gt and the sounds is amazing. my friend has a 2012 mustang 5.0 with borla exhaust and even he was impressed by the sound. the video sound doesn't do it justice at all. This is a great buy, specially considering the price.

      Awesome!

The Pype Bomb sounds amazing! It was a lot louder than I expected and has a really good sound to it. Installation is pretty simple. Hardest thing to do it take off the stock exhaust. I took off the hangers to make it easier to get off so if you’re having trouble getting the stock mufflers off try that. Should take an hour or two.

      Pype Bombs

The pype bombs sound way better than I was expecting. Sounds great with my x-pipe. Videos do not do these any justice. The only problem I have with them are just like other people have said that the driver side comes out just a little more than the passanger side but that’s not a big issue for me. Was a very easy install. You can definitely hear them when you press on the gas! Just a little bit of drone but that’s not an issue for me. Overall it is a great product especially for the price.

      Wonderful throwback sounds.

I installed the pypes myself in about 30 minutes without lifting the car. The exhaust sound a medium deep/bass sound during cruising. Very loud upon startup but is tone down a couples of knots after car is warm-up. Sound is sweet music to my ear. Love them!

GT500 now sounds like a 500hp muscle car

I spent many a youtube video looking for an exhaust for my (factory) quiet 2008 GT500 and decided to listen to the reviews (and AM) and buy this one. I had my local shop put it on and they did it perfectly without the hanger kit. Exhaust note: The sweet spot is about 3500RPM where it goes from "sweet exhaust note" to YEEEAAAHHHHH. At idle and cruising, there is no drone and it is bearable for hour drives. At lower RPMs, it is not that loud in the cabin and I have not had any neighbors complain yet. Amazingly, there is no popping when you decelerate or shift, which is a testament to how tuned the resonators are. 100 would recommend for those who don't mind a little more attention in a car designed to get attention.

      THUNDER

These sound MEAN! I'm in love with these pype bombs. They really wake up the car (and neighbors). I did notice an increase in performance and just overall badassery. Say goodbye to back pressure. The install was not too difficult however might run into some problems with rusted bolts and pipes. Nothing a generous amount of liquid wrench and some muscle can't handle. Expect a bit of drone in the car while driving, but thats what you get when you're car now sounds like a monster truck.
