    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I’m going to be taking a closer look at the Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-Back Exhaust system for all 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. The first thing you’ll notice when taking a look at the Pypes kit is that there is no muffler incorporated into the design whatsoever. However, you get this massive 4 inch tip, which is resonated, and that’s going to help keep the excessive popping to a minimum. Since this is a straight through muffler delete system, you can expect maximum flow and an extremely aggressive exhaust note. We do actually have this kit installed on our 2007 bolt-on build up in conjunction with Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe, and let me tell you, it’s one of the loudest exhausts I’ve ever heard. The entire kit’s constructed from 100% 304 grade stainless steel and should bolt on easily in about an hour’s time using some basic hand tools. Now let’s hear how Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Aggressive Sound. The Pypes "Pype-Bomb" Axle-Back with its Muffler Delete design provides the most aggressive sound and free flowing exhaust possible with the stock cats in place to produce more power that you can feel and hear.

Resonator Tips. The engineers at Pypes designed their new muffler delete exhaust system with specially engineered tips which include resonators to eliminate that loud annoying popping noise that other muffler delete kits can cause.

Application. This Pype-Bomb Axle-Back exhaust system is designed to fit the the 2005 to 2010 GT and Shelby GT500 Mustangs for show quality looks and impressive sound. This axle-back is made to be a direct bolt on to the stock location without any modifications required.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

I have a 2006 GT. The majority of reviewers mentioned, in some instances complained, that the left pipe sticks out further than the right. Has the company addressed this and corrected it? No point in spending this kind of money on a product that doesn't fit right.

        • This issue has been addressed yes.

What is the weight of this exhaust in comparison with the stock?

        • I installed them on my 2010 Mustang GT Premium and they are much lighter than the stock mufflers I replaced. They bolted up perfectly without any adjustment and sound mean and throaty. You will completely enjoy the change.

will these fit on a 2010 mustang v6 with a dual exhaust conversion

So I bought these and I have a pypes x pipe connected to stock over axle pipe and for some reason I got all the hangers off and old magnaflow exhaust off but when I put the pypes bomb up it’s just off. The pypes bomb doesn’t fit the over axle pipe I tried everything even loosened the mid pipe a little. I don’t know if it’s a pypes bomb design flaw for the product I received because no other axle back had this problem

Is that a off road x pipe in sound video or is it the stock mid pipe with the pypes pype bomb axle back?

        • To ensure an an accurate preview of what you'd get when upgrading from a fully stock exhaust setup, this video was done with the stock h-pipe.

            Perfect Sound

Pairs well with the cut and clamp x-pipe from pypes. With x-pipe it drones very little to none. Fitment was odd but,if the clamps are loosened after the factory h-pipe, it all can be adjusted accordingly. Great product.

            Awesome Pypes (pipes)

Great pipes. Installation is easy, fits perfectly onto our 2006 Mustang GT convertible. Sound is awesome, strong and deep. Just a mean sounding system.

If only these were stock by Ford

First off, if you want a perfect fit go to your local muffler shop because one of the sides are not even with the other as one is flushed and the other is not. I'll installed the mufflers at home with no problems though I would highly recommend having second hands to help you but, it was easy and anyone can do it with commitment. But overall, it made me fall in love with my project Mustang, even more, the more I drove it and the notes at low speed and gush the higher RPMs are just muscle as you get. Doesn't have the top-notch note as the Borlas' but this is considered my 2nd favorite set of the axle-back exhaust!

            Pope’s are the Bomb

I replaced the restrictive stock exhaust with this axle back exhaust a couple weeks ago, and, WOW, does this system perform well. The sound is a deep rumble at idle, full throaty sound with a nice pop at full throttle, and nice temperate growle at constant highway or in town speed. Fully expect this exhaust system to perform well for many years to come.

            Pypes bomb axle back exhaust

Highly recommend this product. Was a super easy install. Took about an hour. Just dropped the exhaust hangers. Took the clamp of exhaust pipe. Pulled off old mufflers and installed the new pypes bomb. No cutting, no fab work. Was particularly impressed how well everything lined up. Wow! What a difference. When you step her down she comes alive! Sounds awesome!!!

            Pype Bomb

Well I installed these over the weekend and it's true. Not so perfect on the fit. You would think that Pypes would make the necessary correction. But all of that aside they sound amazing. I'm pretty much stock except for CAI an Magnaflow high flow cats. Upon start up there's the rumble. Ince the car warms up you get that muscle car idle. Not to bad on the drive and I really don't see much of a drone but when you get on it WOW! All in all it is the sound you expect from the older muscle cars. It's what it was meant to sound like.

            Decent

They look great and sound good. Only issue like everyone else is the fitment is terrible. One stuck out further, was able to get them close but up close can still tell the passenger side is whack. Took 1 1/2 hrs to put on with help from 1 other person.

            Sounds SO GOOD

First off I just want to say this would be a 6 out of 5 if they fit better but other than the fitment these things sound amazing, look amazing, and are really cheap especially for being stainless steel. I would definitely buy it again.

            Sweet V8 Growl

I just had this axle-back exhaust installed by a local muffler shop. Turns out the brackets on the system were too long so they had to be cut and adjusted (thus the 4-star rating). With that said, this exhaust sounds so nice. I have a convertible so it is definitely loud, but that is part of the fun I having a V8. Anyway, I love the sound and really enjoy my new accessory.

Great exhaust! Not as loud as I expected/wanted but the sound is very pleasing! For the price very worth and with long tube headers and off-road H-pipe its very loud!

Absolutely the best sound for my GT500

This system is the best. Deep booming power noise. No rasping and minimal popping. Easy to fit but drop the hangers, childs play once this is done. Very good fit but check the finish. One of my tail pipes has a poor finish, chipped and rough but AM are reluctant to compensate. I don’t want to fit a new one so I’ve lead soldered it for now. Just need better QC because the sound is top of the list for me

            Not too loud

I got these because I wanted to finish the exhaust on my mustang (straight piped). It’s loud when you get on it but pretty quiet at an idle for not having cats or mufflers. Well see how I like it after awhile I may switch it up and get the Pypes muffler deletes instead. Literally took me 10mins to throw em on the car and remove my old mufflers
