    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I’m going to be taking a closer look at the Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-Back Exhaust system for all 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. The first thing you’ll notice when taking a look at the Pypes kit is that there is no muffler incorporated into the design whatsoever. However, you get this massive 4 inch tip, which is resonated, and that’s going to help keep the excessive popping to a minimum. Since this is a straight through muffler delete system, you can expect maximum flow and an extremely aggressive exhaust note. We do actually have this kit installed on our 2007 bolt-on build up in conjunction with Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe, and let me tell you, it’s one of the loudest exhausts I’ve ever heard. The entire kit’s constructed from 100% 304 grade stainless steel and should bolt on easily in about an hour’s time using some basic hand tools. Now let’s hear how Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle-back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Aggressive Sound. The Pypes "Pype-Bomb" Axle-Back with its Muffler Delete design provides the most aggressive sound and free flowing exhaust possible with the stock cats in place to produce more power that you can feel and hear.

Resonator Tips. The engineers at Pypes designed their new muffler delete exhaust system with specially engineered tips which include resonators to eliminate that loud annoying popping noise that other muffler delete kits can cause.

Application. This Pype-Bomb Axle-Back exhaust system is designed to fit the the 2005 to 2010 GT and Shelby GT500 Mustangs for show quality looks and impressive sound. This axle-back is made to be a direct bolt on to the stock location without any modifications required.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

What is the weight of this exhaust in comparison with the stock?

    Magoo10

    • I installed them on my 2010 Mustang GT Premium and they are much lighter than the stock mufflers I replaced. They bolted up perfectly without any adjustment and sound mean and throaty. You will completely enjoy the change.

Is this the price of both the exhausts or is the price of only one?

    KashanH

Has anyone put this on a 2005 V6? If so how does it sound? I'm looking for deep and loud sound.

    TylerK

    • Pypes would be a great and cost efficient exhaust to go with! We do have a couple V6 owners that have left reviews on this exhaust. Check out our reviews to see what they have said about these!

How much power do you gain?

    KoleH

    • This axleback will gain you roughly 3-5 horsepower.

In terms of loudness tone, how do these compare to the Flowmaster Outlaws.

    NEP

    • The Pypes Pipe-Bomb axle-back exhaust will not be as loud as the Flowmaster Outlaw axle-back exhaust. The Outlaw will be some of the loudest available for the 2005-2010 GT & GT500 model Mustangs whereas the Pipe-Bomb from Pypes is a more mid range sound.

Any idea if ths is legal in NY or the Pypes muffler delete axle-back exhaust? Or will pass NY state emissions

    BrandonH

    • You can check with your local authorities or the local emissions testing facility to see exactly what is legal in your state.

Excellent, but not without a small flaw

I have had these for 7 years now, so I figured now is a good time to leave a proper review. (2006 GT) When I first installed these, I had to grind the nub off the stock tail pipe in order for these to slide on, After that, it was an easy bolt on. When I stood back and looked, I realised the left side stuck out further, so I messed with it more that day and settled with one side longer. A few years later I tried again as it annoyed me. Mine must have been made with a slight flaw in the hanger placement, because no matter what I did, I had to either settle with the left side hanging a little lower, or sticking out. I have settled with lower as it looks better. (only noticeable to me because I am picky, but my wife never noticed) Regarding the sound, Amazing! I now have the Ceramic coated long tube headers by Pacesetter along with a catted H mid pipe. With all of these, even driving slow sounds fantastic!

Good sound, but drones a bit.

Good quality materials. Easy to install. Did it on the ground with jack stands. They definitely make my car sound more aggressive. There is some drone, at about 2000 RPM. Nothing I won’t get used to. Overall a very good product at a reasonable price.

      Do NOT buy these.

I'm on my 2nd set in two years. They keep breaking off at the hangar closest to the bumper. Both sides. First time I thought it was either some railroad tracks I went over or someone kicked them off. The 2nd time I realized it is a design flaw. They broke off today (purchased last June) at the same spot AGAIN. Its too bad because they sound great.

      Amazing Pipes

Stock exhaust sounded fine, but was wanting a bit more. This DEFINITELY was a bit more. If you want your car to have more of a throaty rumble but not window-shattering loud, absolutely get these (nice price too)! Cons: -Just one. These pypes come with an instruction manual. At least with mine (08 GT), the instruction manual was 100 spot on. INCLUDING the note at the bottom stating it’s normal if one of the pypes does not align correctly. I read these reviews that you’re probably reading now and only a few of them say they had this problem. Anyway, the fix is rotating the mid pipe, which either can be done yourself or by a mechanic; I had mine done by a mechanic I knew and he charged me nothing (done in 2 mins). I also recommend checking the wear on your existing hangers; if they are worn down, it is well worth it to buy the recommended hangers as well and install everything at once. Note: if you have worked on cars before, well lubricated the bolts, then the time for you to do this by yourself will probably be drastically shorter than my time. Had no clue what I was doing (did have sense to use WD-40 though) so it took me from 3-8pm.

      Sweet sound

Loud and throaty! Cold starts sound awesome. Loud when you accelerate, mellow when cruising. Very light drone at 55-60. No biggie. Went back and forth a lot between getting these and the fr500s axle backs. Got these cause they were over $200 cheaper and sound is similar, maybe not as loud but i also like that you dont see mufflers from the back or side of the car. Big 4" tips look amazing. Took about 45min to get on, probably 2 hrs to line the tips up square with each other lol. Has that sweet poppin'/gargling sound when downshifting.

Sounds good but doesn't fit right

The exhaust hangers were not welded on properly so the tips are crooked and point downwards. I will eventually take them back off so i can cut and re-weld the hangers back on

now the exhaust matches the motor!

I put these on last after my CAI and my tune and my magnaflow high flow cats. totally changed the sound. I drove around for at least an hour just to hear the sweet rumble. NOW the car sounds like it should and I can hear and feel the exhaust where as before the sound of the motor overpowered the exhaust. depending on how far the foot is on the gas they are quiet when cruising but when you get on it then it comes alive. This is exactly why I wanted another v8 car...that sweet muscle car sound. I cant imagine wanting any louder but I know there are others out there that are. I think this is just right.

      Pypes exhaust

I absolutely love this product. My mustang really has a nasty tone to it that holds true until you step on it. It took no time at all to install but the brackets didn't fit as well as I'd hoped. All in all I highly recommend this product to anyone interested in making your mustang sound amazing without being too loud.

Installed in a 2005 mustang gt and the sounds is amazing. my friend has a 2012 mustang 5.0 with borla exhaust and even he was impressed by the sound. the video sound doesn't do it justice at all. This is a great buy, specially considering the price.

      Awesome!

The Pype Bomb sounds amazing! It was a lot louder than I expected and has a really good sound to it. Installation is pretty simple. Hardest thing to do it take off the stock exhaust. I took off the hangers to make it easier to get off so if you’re having trouble getting the stock mufflers off try that. Should take an hour or two.
