is this x pipe loud with flowmaster outlaws?

    • This X-Pipe and the Flowmaster Outlaw Series will give your car an extremely loud and raspy tone. An X-Pipe gives your car a very raspy tone and the Outlaw's are extremely aggressive. Your car will be a head turner with this set up.

I have a stock 2005 mustang GT with just a pype bomb axle back. What will this do to the exhaust sound paired up with my pype bombs? Also this will still pass CA smog right? Thanks

    • The Pypes Cut and Clamp X-Pipe (05-10 GT) would give your exhaust setup a raspier sound due to the X-Pipe. This midpipe however is not CARB legal, for further details of restrictions and and approved modifications, please contact your local authorities or DMV.

will this need to be tune? sound quality with Flowmaster thunder axleback? I would like to purchase this x-pipe since its cheap and can still past inspection. My question is will this require to be tune when install? second part of my question is anyone installed these with Flowmaster thunder axle back exhaust? would like to know the quality of the sound and opinion? Thanks in advance

    • No tune due to it not removing the cats. As for sound check youtube for that combination and you may find some clips.

Will this work wih long tube headers or just the shorty? Since this is the cut and clamp and re-uses the stock cats, could this be used with long tube headers?

    • Just the shorties. For longtubes you need a offroad x or one that will line up with LTs. This just replaces part of the factory H to make an X.

Will this X pipe increase sound or just make it more raspy. I am looking for an increase in sound without needing a tune.

    • The Pypes Cut and Clamp X-Pipe will help increase the sound and raspy to the car yes.

      Purrrrrfect

Really a nice and refined exhaust note. Coupled with the Magnaflow Competition Series cat back and Roush CAI, my baby growls and scoots. A tune will be the next upgrade to really wake her up. Installation was easy enough though I did have to do some prying on the catalytic pipe to get things to line up for installation. Give yourself a couple of hours to be safe.

      X-Pipe

I took the X-Pipe to my local shop and they put it on for me it cost me a $100 bucks which was not bad. i paired it up with my Flowmaster Outlaw axle back. i think it made it a little more quite which i didn't expect but it did change the tone a little which was good.

Great quality made my mustang sound a little louder but not loud enough like I thought it would I might do a cat delete to open the exhaust a little more.

      Pretty cool mod

OK so this thing is pretty cool in a couple ways. From a performance standpoint, research shows that the x crossover pipe is most efficient for exhaust flow which makes it the clear choice in my opinion, but it also adds a different sound to the exhaust flow itself. As the revs drop I can hear the exhaust making this fluttering/popping kind of sound unlike how the stock h pipe sounded more gurgley. And as the revs are climbing the exhaust gases make a kind of cool whoosh sound as they hit eachother. I had this installed at a muffler shop, cost me 90 bucks and had it welded instead of using the clamps (much less chance of exhaust gas leak).

      Great sound

I installed this along with the pipes headers and I love how it sounds. Didn't come with the clamps like it was supposed to but honestly after reading the other reviews I was just going to get some better ones anyways. Great addition for the price

It should have came with this

You can tell the car breaths much easier with this pipe, I can tell it pull a little harder in the upper RPMs. The pipe its self is really nice quality I have had no problems with it leaking from the provided clams. The X pipe is not as raspy as I would have hoped and it maybe is a little louder but maybe that is just me.

      Dope

Pretty easy to install not too hard but I noticed my car a little bit more quite and now I feel like it has more back pressure in the lower rpms and it doesn't sound bad at all just a lot smoother.

      H-Pipe to X-Pipe

I installed this on my 06 GT. The previous setup was Pypes shorties,off-road H-pipe and Pype Bombs. I'd been running this for the last two years and really liked it but was curious how the X-pipe would compare.Since I already had the down tubes from the off-road H-pipe I just ordered the cut and clamp X-pipe and swapped the two around. The initial cold start was similar to the H-pipe but when it idles down there is a smoother and slightly quieter tone. Driving is where I noticed more of a difference .When you accelerate the exhaust note is smoother, more refined. You can tell the exhaust pulses are blending together and the car feels like its breathing even better. As far as volume, its just as loud as before and I love it! The sound in the mid to upper rpm range is awesome. Where the H-pipe could be a little harsh sounding, (which I had no problem with), the X-pipe really does give it that "race car" growl. I loved my H-pipe, but I like this even better!

      Not happy

Long story short, the ends closest to the CCs was the same size as the factory pipes. After some head scratching and reading I noticed that on AM the ends are wider in the picture to allow the Pypes X Pipe to slide over the factory pipes. Normally I would just return the pipe and get my money back right? Wrong, thinking AM and Pypes would never send me something defective, and being a Novice DIYer, I had already cut my factory H Pipe off.. Needless to say I was not happy at all, I am a firm believer in the "you get what you pay for" saying, and it's as true as ever with Pypes brand products. If it wasn't for some creativity on my part and some foresight I would be without a car to get to work the next day. I was considering buying Pypes axlebacks once this was done, but after this little fiasco will never be buying Pypes anything again, and probably not from AM again, I know its not really their fault, but they sell their products, so it is what it is. Ended up buying some MBRP axlebacks from LP for pretty cheap, so yeah.. If anyone does decide to order these, I advise taking it to a professional to get them welded (I will be doing that soon). Or just do not buy them at all, spend the extra cash and get something from a different manufacturer with better quality control. The positive? I do notice much better acceleration and a better sound, soon to get much better with my new axlebacks.

      Awesome!

The combination of the X-pipe and the Pypes Violator Axle Back mufflers are a real head turner. The sound is not obnoxious but gets the point across on taking no prisoners.

      Great product

This is a great Xpipe well worth the money especially when paired with muffler deletes .. You definitely hear an improvement on the over all exhaust note, but what I'm impressed with is the extra throttle response I have!!! Comes alive after 2500 rpm ... It took my local shop 30 min to install!! I would recomend using different clamps the ones that come with the pipe aren't that great
