Better exhaust setup I'm planning on getting this X-pipe to hopefully finish upgrading my mustangs exhaust. Currently I'm running stock cats into divorced 2.25in piping all going into dual Flowmaster Super 10s. I plan on running this X-pipe with Pypes High Flow Cats all into my 2.25in piping and Flowmasters. Does this sound like it would make a good exhaust setup for my Mustang or should I change up a few things to get a better sound for my car?

    • I removed the stock cats, turned off my rear O2 sensors, to use the Pypes off road x-pipe. Clamped it to my stock exhaust pipes and to my Corsa sport performance axel back mufflers. I have a deep aggressive sound, added a few more horses and absolutely turn heads on the road. I have seen the Pypes off road x-pipe used in conjunction of the Pypes pipe bombs. Amazing! So, depending on the emissions for where you live, you may want to keep the cats on. But if you're looking for that agressive deep throaty sound, you can't go wrong with the Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe.

Will this fit with the PaceSetter longtube headers?

    • The Pypes Cut and Clamp X-Pipe will only work with shorty headers, or stock exhaust manifolds.

I have a stock 2006 V6 and I am looking to upgrade the exhaust. I have looked all over forums for what to do/ what is best, and I am just looking for further input. Should I go with a dual exhaust? If so, should i buy the X-pipe and then purchase a GT take off exhaust, or should I just buy an actual dual exhaust conversion kit? And if I stay with a single exhaust, what is a good muffler to use to give a more aggressive tone?

    • If you were to go with Pypes Cut and Clamp X-Pipe (05-10 V6), that would give you more freedom when choosing a muffler. It may be easier to go with an actual V6 Dual Exhaust Conversion, such as the Pypes True Dual Exhaust (05-10 V6), item # 20018, ( This exhaust kit includes the x-pipe and the Cat-Back, which would complete your set up besides headers. There are many other kits to choose from as well. If you were to stay with a single exhaust, I would recommend Borla Axle-Back Exhaust (05-09 V6), item # 29000, ( Borla never disappoints with their exhaust. This will give your V6 a highly aggressive tone. Paired with the Pypes Cut and Clamp X-Pipe shown above, your Mustang will sound raspy and aggressive. A real head turner!

Question I have flow master dual exhaust will I need this to install long tube headers on my car?

    • The Pypes Cut and Clamp X-Pipe (05-10 V6) will not require you to install long tube headers. This X-Pipe simply bolts up to your stock catalytic converters which your short tube headers are attached to.

Does this come with a template for cutting the rear bumper for the new muffler on the driver side? If not, where can I get one?

    • The Pypes 409 Stainless Steel Cut & Clamp X-Pipe does not come with a template for the rear bumper, as it should come with most dual cat-back exhausts. Pypes does have a template for their true-dual exhausts, and it can be found online, however, if you would like to contact us via email, we can send it out to you :)

so I don't really know a lot about exhaust. I have a stock v6 mustang 2005 and I have done nothing to the exhaust at all so it all stock exhaust. however I want a nice louder sound on my mustang. so I was wondering if I bought this if it would be enough or if I would need more as well as this? and if I need more please let me know what exactly or if theres a cheaper option

    • I also have a 2005 v6 and i started out by getting a flowmaster super44

      Amazing product..

Just make sure that this X-pipe is right for you.. I had a magnaflow (almost dual) exhaust. Got this to make it a true dual thinking it would just bolt up. Install with the old man was a little tricky lining everything up and ended up getting two 2.5" pipes for a local muffler shop, to make everything fit correctly, but in the end it sounds nasty (in a good way). Took around an afternoon to install but a little longer to make it perfect. Overall I love the look under the car and the sound is incredible. The only pain i had was cutting the original exhaust off.

Bought this with the pypes mid muffler catback. I ran into a problem with the catback so i ended up driving with just the xpipe for a couple hours and it was so much fun. Its ridiculously loud without the catback obviously, but i could tell a boost in power as well. In addition to the midmuffler pypes catback its a great buy. Just make sure you cut off your old pipes cleanly.

Great fit with a GT Catback!

I bought this to use with a take-off catback from a GT and the install went very smoothly. I did not need a pipe expander, I just went to the local auto parts store after measuring the diameter of both pipes and bought a pair of universal exhaust clamps (cost around $30 for some nice stainless ones). Measuring two or three times to make sure where you cut comes in handy here so you do not have a big gap to bridge with the clamps. I installed the mufflers and mid-pipes first before I cut so that I knew exactly where I needed things, as opposed to the directions, which just have you reference the stock cat location and come close based off of holding up the new part against the old. That also allowed me to fine-tune the muffler placement / amount of tip exposed instead of having to move the muffler / pipe to accommodate the x-pipe. The only thing I wish they would change is including the bumper cutout template with the kit. Even when printed according to their instructions, one of the bumper lines never matched up where they said it would. I ended up using my calibrated eyeball instead. I would definitely recommend this part to a buddy (without snickering after doing so)!

      Perfect upgrade part

I got my hands on a GT take off mid pipe and muffler. This x pipe was perfect. Keep in mind there is another tool they forgot to mention. You will need a pipe spreader. Its about 25 bucks at your local auto part store. The X pipe is 2.5" opening... but the gap may close a bit. I used the pipe spreader and it went on like a CHAMP. THe back part where the mid pipe goes on was the same size as the GT mid pipes, So I had it welded on. Now my car has the look and sound of a true dual exhaust.

      good midpipe

the pipe sounds good, however on mustangs that were converted to duals this is not a direct bolt on, i had to expand the inlet ends, and then expand the outlets but once i did that it fit real snug, nice and level. the sound was amazeing, alot of hte pop went away, coupled with a large CAI and the back pressure of cats, it sounds pretty dang good!

      Great Sound, Terrible Durability.

I bought one of these in March last year and was very pleased with the deep, rumbly noise my V6 made. However, a few months later one of the hangers fell off and caused a rather large hole to open up. Having that welded shut was not cheap and I'm disappointed that it even happened. If you're looking for a temporary upgrade, this is a perfect product. However I wouldn't recommend keeping it on a daily driver for long.

As Good as It CAN Get

Put my cut and clamp x-pipe with a pair of GT take off mufflers (personally they're way too quiet) but the sound quality is great. My exhaust has a more aggressive rumble and growl while accelerating. Only complaint is that the clamps supplied with the x-pipe are useless, mine had terrible leaks and had to take it to be permanently welded, but overall very happy with my purchase!

      Good Sound!

I had this X-pipe put on along with BBK short tube headers and the cats gutted and it sounds so much like a V8 that you cant tell the difference. It has that V8 rumble at the idle and the old 4 valve cobra sound at mid power. Gained 12 horse on dyno with the pipe alone. Very good product for the price!!! Mid and High range horsepower gains!!

The X pipe cut and clamp is awesome. It's a great thing to buy if you're looking to buy aftermarket exhaust. I got the Roush extreme cat backs and man does it sound good on a v6. Makes it sound like a v8 and you can feel the power the X pipe adds !! Love it

The missing piece to the exhaust puzzle

Well, what can I say, without this I wouldnt have dual exhaust! Fitment is good, just make sure to leave a little extra room on those stock pipes when lining the xpipe up.

      Excellent addition to the V6!

I had duals installed about 2 years ago and while I noticed some improvent in performance, the thing I really noticed was how loud it became in the cab. Adding the Pypes Xpipe really perked up the Mustang the sound now goes out the back it added a throatier tone and really perked up the performance. You can definately feel the difference. If you have duals on a V6 I definatley recommend you add the XPipe. Honestly I thought it would quiet the exhaust down. the results however were much better than I expected. The tone became deeper and it got rid of that annoying exhaust flutter. it also all but eliminated the washing machine sound the V6 has when you add duals. Love it!

I bought this along with Pacesetter headers and flowmasters. The sound is great and my shop had no problems installing it. Im going to try and make it a little louder with high-flow cats.
