Aggressive Sound. Give your 2011-2014 GT the aggressive sound that will get it noticed on the street or at the strip with a Pypes "Pype Bomb" axle-back. This muffler delete style axleback provides the most aggressive, free-flowing exhaust possible with your factory cats still in place - delivering more power you can feel and hear.

Resonator Tips. The engineers at Pypes designed their new muffler delete exhaust system with specially engineered resonator tips that eliminate that loud annoying popping noise that other muffler delete kits can cause.

Polished 304 Stainless. Unlike even some more expensive exhausts, this system features a fully polished finish for superior looks and corrosion resistance. And with its 304 stainless steel construction, this system will last just as long as those costing many times more.

Application. This Pype-Bomb Axle-Back exhaust system is designed to fit 2011-2014 Mustang GT for show quality looks and impressive sound. This axle-back is made to be a direct bolt on to the stock location without any modifications required.

Power increase? Will these muffler deletes provide a noticeable gain in HP? If so, would it be more or less than a muffler delete without resonators?

TheRidge

  • I purchased the Black ones that just came out, OMG the sound a lone is good enough for me but I have to say yes there is a power gain, a lot less restrictive and a lot less weight on your rear-end of the Stang, the LOOK is great as well.

Does axle back require any tuning? I'm making transition from motorcycles to mustangs. On a motorcycle anytime you change exhaust and intake you should get a dyno so bike has proper fuel/air ratio.

Reidmi75

  • No found that there were no signs for additional tuning. Also not recommended by manufactura.

axleback resonator 1] Does the resonator reduce or increase the back pressure? 2] Is the increase in noise [loudness] just low or does it add rumble? Your video didn't really answer the question. 3] I assume the loudness passes noise ordinances? 4] How long would you expect the resonator to last before it gets too loud? I have the new 5 liter & would like to add some voice to it more like the newer Shelby units with some real rumble to it.

Musty012

  • I believe the resinator increases backpressure some, but it keeps the exhaust from popping as much. I have this exact part on my 2012 5.0 and noticed an increase in volume, and a good deep rumble. It is not overly loud unless you are at full throttle at high RPM. I am pleased with mine, as it adds a unique sound compared to other mustang exhausts. Here is a clip I have posted on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqtvPKpc_-8

Compatible? Want to ge sure they will work on a 2013 Mustang GT/CS. Also is the exhaust that is removed worth anything? Thanks!

DNovick

  • DNovick, Yes, they are compatible! A direct bolt on and easy install; given you have a few hand tools. The passenger side is a little harder due to the clearance above the stock muffler, but overall a very straight forward install on my 2013 GT premium track pack! You may want to keep your stock mufflers for down the road or sell them, not sure what they would be worth. Check out my video review of the TSW nurburgring wheels and you can here the Pypes pype bomb axle back in action on a dyno go from idle up to 6500.

Application Question I have a 2012 Mustang club of america V6 with the factory dual exhaust and i was wondering if the Pypes Pype Bomb axle back exhaust will work on the v6 model.

1253Ford

  • Unfortunately, the tubing size is different between the GT and V6. The GT axle-backs will not fit properly on your V6. Please check out the link below and select 2011-2012 V6 tab at the top for all the axle-back kits designed for your Mustang: http://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-axleback-exhaust.html Hope this helps!

factory clamps? Do these come with clamps or do you use the factory clamps?

blackstang03

  • You are able to use the factory clamps. You can use a cutting tool like a dremel or angle grinder. I just moved them around back and forth and the clamp came free from the factory muffler.

    Pure Muscle Awesomeness

I purchased my 2014 GT with Corsa Sports already installed. The Corsas were not quite what I was looking for and I had the Pype-bomb set up on my 2010 GT and loved the sound on the 4.6 motor and decided to purchase the same set up for the '14. This set up sounds amazing with the 5.0 motor. It can remain quiet with low RPMs, but when you put your foot into the pedal the car really comes alive. I personally notice some drone on the freeway at cruising speeds, but I bought a muscle car to hear it, not to sneak by like a Prius. I did have to have a muffler shop professionally install them to get it just right, but it was worth it and did not cost much to have done.

    Agressive sound!

Awesome sound! If you don't like it loud I would suggest something else. This was my first exhaust install, so it took me approx 1-2 hours to get the drivers side stock exhaust removed and Pypes installed (using stock tire jack). The passenger side took less than 30 minutes. I found it easier to remove the entire bracket and hanger instead of only removing the hangers (even using WD-40). Fitament took a bit of adjusting, but finally fit perfect. Be aware the clamps are welded to the stock exhaust and have to be cut off (bust can still be used with the Pypes). I love the sound and have received may compliments the last few weeks. There is a noticeable drone at 80mph in 6th gear, but not too bothersome. I also installed the AMR Charcoal staggered 19in rims and Pirelli tires...looks tough!

    Pypes Pype-bomb Axle-Back Exhaust (11-12 GT)

This is the 2nd set of Pype bombs that I have installed. The first was on my 2006 GT and most recently on my 2011 5.0 ... I thought they sounded great on my 2006 and I think the tone is even better on the 2011. The tone is deep and aggressive and there is no "popping" like I've had on other brands of exhaust. The exhaust looks better than the example photos given and much, much better then the factory exhaust. Great price and very fast delivery.

    Amazing Sound

I have an SLP's Loud Mouth axle-back system on my 08 Mustang GT, and this Pypes axle-back sounds better IMO. I am not going to say it sounds a lot better, but I do believe they are an improvement. It sounds great when you step on it and I have no annoying drown on the highway. I got my package from AM in less than five days and had a local shop install them the day they arrived, took them less than 45 minutes. They have a great look that is only outmatched by their sound. When I first pulled out of the muffler shop and stepped on it a bit, it made me smile and giggle like a kid. Great product and a great price.

    WOW!

All I can say is WOW! This exhaust is amazing, especially for the price. It turned heads as soon as I drove it. I had GT500's starring at my car at stop lights. Even a compliment from a 458 Italia owner when I parked next to him.

Make your 5.0 sound like 10.0

I received my Pypes Pype-bomb mufflers in 3 days. The installation is very easy with a 1/2" spanner and socket. From start to finish it took 45 minutes. The sound is RIDICULOUS! At 2000 rpm it growls. At 7000 rpm it sounds like Godzilla. But, on the highway there is no drone. This is exactly the sound I wanted for my 2011 GT Premium. The car shifts easier now with less hesitation between 1,2,3rd gears.

    Best After-Market Exhaust

First off, if you are buying a 400 hp V8 I have no idea why you are complaining about noise. Buy a Dodge Charger if thats the case. Secondly, the sound on this exhaust is AMAZING. My friend spent 800 bucks on another brand and it does not sound nearly half as good as mine. Its not an annoying loud exhaust, it is a loud, mean, american muscle sound! If your looking for quiet, you shouldn't have got a Mustang. Great price, great shipping, and if you put up on a lift installation is simple. Do not try and install while on the ground. It can be done; however, it will make it more difficult to adjust it perfectly. The drone is not "terrible" with 3.73 gears. If anything the car consistantly puts off a mean sound that will turn heads. Please, do not turn away from this exhaust from people complaining it is too loud they shouldn't be driving muscle cars if they want their stangs to sound like a Toyota hybrid. I have also owned this exhaust on the 2010 Mustang and it was amazing as well.

    Amazing...

All I have to say is amazing!! I do not review products often for the simple fact to allow others to develop their own opinion about products, but this product required me to give a review. Of all the Mustangs I have owned, and all the exhaust systems I have installed, this system by Pypes is standalone the all time best!! You have to see "hear" it to believe it!!

    Poor Fitment....Great Sound!

This product produces a great sound especially when paired with the BAMACAM. The downfall is that the fitment and alignment is terrible. They leak at the ball joint. I have tried several solutions including re-adjusting the whole exhaust system.

    Sounds good

This exhaust does sound great...but I was very disappointed on how it fit. Never wanted to just bold on and be even! Struggled with it for hours trying to get everything to fit correctly. There was also two dents in the tip, not the kind of product quality I expected.

Sorry to hear that you had difficulty lining this axle-back up during installation. As for the tip dents, unfortunately things can arrive damaged once in a while, knowing how rough delivery services can be with packages. Please give us a call if you'd like a replacement shipped out to you!

    Sounds Excellent

I love the new sound my 2013 Mustang GT produces. Only downside is I received one of my pipes with about a inch gouge near the edge of the tip. It is noticeable, but I already had it all mounted and bolted down prior to taking the bubble wrap off, so it was too much of a hassle to take it off and then get it replaced. Love the sound though. Just like a Mustang should sound....Loud and throaty.

    No need for SLP.

Overall a fantastic product, great looking tips, high-grade metal, and amazing sound. The only reason this product doesn't get 5 stares is due to fitment. As with most bolt on systems there will be fitment issues but mine actually had to be cut and have new pipe welded in order to fit correctly, with that said it did cost 139 to have them installed which added to the price of the product is still the cheapest rout to go. The sound from these are without a doubt amazing, I was standoffish due to really wanting the SLP's but couldn't see pay 500 for an axle back alone, but there is no need to fear the resonators due very good things in reducing the annoying pop to the standard of cool and not obnoxious where the SLP's are. After it is all said and done find a good local shop and get them to install, if you live in atlanta go to andy's muffler in Snellville ask for nick or andy and bring an extra 150 because they will build and install an x-pipe for you and it sounds, looks, and fits better than anything you can buy. So great product very loud and very good rumble, the drone at 2k I think is cool and with the windows up and the stereo on hardly noticeable until you give up trying to contain your led foot.

    Sounds great, install was horrible

PROS: the exhuast is a monster! Makes you feel like your driving a super sports car down the road. Even when you turn it on it's so load it sets off car alarms. Going down the street in the high RPM's it's insane how nice it sounds. It's a head turner for sure. CONS: The box it came in was so smashed up I could see the exhust sticking out. Lucky it was wrapped up really good. The really bad part is the install... I took to my dealer ship and they put it on but they said the pipes where at a weird angel and it didn't fit right. It was so off it was rubbing against the car. I had to take it to a muffler shop and they asked me if this was even the right mufflers for my car. They had to cut some of the exhust to get it to fit properly. All in all cost me a little over 150$ to get this exhust on. I'm disappointed in the fact that a bolt on would give me this much trouble. I feel like I should be refunded that money.. Anyways all in all if buy it again just for the fact it sounds great!! Just remember that you may have to spend some money if u want it to fit right.

    pype bomb axle back exhaust

The sound is amazing. Everyone in town now wears neck braces from snapping their heads to see whats coming . Backed into a restaurant , eight year old eating on the patio looked over and grinned As I was going in I said , saw ya smile . Then his mama grinned . Future muscle car buyer. An older man asked if I had cats at all. I told him two cats and two resonators. Future pype axle back buyer. Awesome sound from eight to eighty ( years old that is ) loving my pypes.

    Great Sound Easy Install

The hardest part of this install is removing the factory cans, not much room to work with. After getting the factory ones out, I unbolted the hangers and put them on the Pypes and installed as a unit. It was much easier this way. The only other thing was loosening one of the factory down pipes after the cat to roll it some and line up with the new pipe. Whole job took about 1 1/2 hours to complete. The sound is great, with some drone at 2k rpms. I would recommend this to anyone and I would buy it again.

You get what you pay for

I bought these axle backs because I was cheap and didn't want to fork out for the Roush set. I put them on the car and it was impossible to get them to line up correctly. I sat there for about 2 hours just playing with it, even loosened the mid pipe and I could not get it to where I was happy. On my 2013 the tips on these also stuck out like 3 inches longer than the stock mufflers do and it looks stupid. I have no idea how anybody says these things don't have any drone because I know on my car they have absolutely killer drone at 2K RPMs. I mean like you cant even hear the radio or the person talking next to you kind of drone. Stuff rattles and vibrates in the cup holder kind of drone. When I take my girlfriend for a ride it hurts her ears kind of drone and mine too sometimes if i press the pedal right. I am 21 years old, and I like my cars loud but I am disappointed with these, I took them off the car after about two weeks and I put the stock mufflers back on and listed these on for sale online so i can get Roush instead. (wish i could return them to use towards Roush because they only have like 150 miles on them.) If you are looking for axel backs that drone so loud they hurt your ears and don't fit right these are your best bet.

These pypes are awesome. It is very aggressive when I put the pedal to the metal. It purrs like a kitten at idle and roars like a lion when I punch it. You cannot go wrong with this product. I highly recommend if you like a real mustang. I installed both sides in a total of 25 minutes.
