Description
Fitment. When replacing your stock June 6th 2007 to 2009 Mustang's clutch with a new SPEC clutch, you also have to replace your stock flywheel so your new clutch will seat properly. This flywheel is designed specifically for use with SPEC SF66 clutch kit, it will not fit the stock factory or other brand aftermarket clutches.

Quality. CNC machined to an unbelievable tolerance of .001 for an ideal balance and perfect surface, this flywheel is also made from top quality billet aluminum to minimize the amount of rotating mass. Best of all, aluminum SPEC flywheels are re-buildable and feature a replaceable steel friction plate made from a friction-enhancing steel compound formulated for optimum clutch bedding and maximum power transfer.

Better Acceleration. Step up from a steel flywheel to a billet aluminum SPEC unit and experience better acceleration and a more responsive engine. By simply reducing your flywheel's rotating mass, your engine doesn't have to expend as much power to get it moving, translating into faster delivery of your Mustang's power.

  • This Spec Flywheel is required with the installation of the SPEC SF66 Clutch for V6 Mustangs built from June 6th 2007 to 2009.
  • Mustangs built from June 6th 2007 to 2009 require the use of SPEC SF66 series clutch kit and SPEC Flywheel part# SF66A-2.
  • Mustangs built from January 2007 to June 6th 2007 require the use of SPEC SF66 series clutch kit and SPEC Flywheel part# SF66A.

    Had a retired ford mechanic install the fly wheel, best to install Spec clutch kit, slave cylinder along with flywheel at the same time. Usually when one goes out, it's just a matter of time when the rest of the components will malfunction. Prior to installing, find out what year car was manufactured. Just because car is 2008 it could be made in 2007, so flywheeel specs could be different. Can get those numbers off door jam. Alot cheaper than ford dealership prices. If not sure, call American Muscle customer service, they're were very helpful. Ordered on a night, was shipped the next day. I received it two days later. John D.

    Clutch/flywheel

    Increased performance in acceleration and drives easier than with the stock flywheel. I recommend this product.

    Spec billet aluminum flywheel

    This flywheel is much lighter than the OEM product. It matched up very well with the spec stage 1 clutch I put in at the same time and works well. The clutch grabs the new flywheel very well with no slippage and really ramps up the rpm's quickly. My only possible complaint and I don't know if it's really a problem from reading the online forums is the distinct smell of hot clutch when even driving normally. I have over 1000 miles on the car after the 500 mile break in and still get the smell pretty bad at times but it does seem to be diminishing now somewhat. No slippage that I can tell but the smell is definetly the clutch. Many on line report a strong clutch smell for a good while after the install so I'm not worrried as long as it doesn't start to slip. Overall, very good pairing.
