Description
Ideal Replacement. If you've burned out your daily driver V6's clutch by having too much fun or are considering a new unit because it's just time for a better one, consider a SPEC Stage 1. It will hold better than a stock unit without giving you a leg workout every time you need to shift, and will improve your drivetrain's ability to handle power and perform reliably.

Daily Driver Friendly. This SPEC Stage 1 Clutch is designed for bolt-on naturally aspirated and mildly modified forced induction engines. It's best suited to 'Stangs that see daily driver duty and occasional track use, since it offers the most friendly pedal feel combined with SPEC's legendary durability.

  • Whenever you are replacing your clutch with an aftermarket, it's highly recommended to replace the flywheel as well with the same brand, as they will have the proper tolerance and clearances for smooth clutch engagement. You can resurface and use your stock flywheel, but the clutch can wear out prematurely as they are not made with the correct clearances for one another. If you have any additional questions, please give us a call!

    Good Clutch

    This clutch is a pretty good deal. It does exactly what SPEC says it will do. However, you should be prepaired;when they say it has a low pedal pressure they arent kidding.... i thought i broke something because the pressure was so much slighter that the stock clutch.

    SPEC Stage1 Clutch Kit

    I had the Stage1 clutch kit installed at the Mustang shop at the same time as installing the SPEC Billet Steel Flywheel from AM. I could have installed it myself but after reading frequent complaints from others shortly after they installed their own, I went with my shop. The feel of the clutch while shifting is a lot different than the stock one. As I was getting accustomed to the feel the first few weeks this clutch quickly stuck and was solid. Its a very smooth transitioning clutch as it is released at any speed or RPM. Very smooth and gripping clutch. I consider it an outstanding quality clutch. I'm a fan. Very satisfied and strongly recommend it.

    Nice action

    Just had this clutch installed on my 2000 v6 5spd. The first thing I noticed was the significantly reduced pressure on the pedal, The second was how quickly it grabs the gear. To my humiliation, I stalled it out the first time I tried to engage 1st. Lol. I recommend this to all who are seeking a new clutch. It feels amazing once you ge the hang of it.

    effing amazing.

    my throwout bearing was bad causing a distinct whining noise when the clutch was not depressed, i decided to go for performance parts instead of stock replacements and let me tell you i am happy with the difference in performance, much smoother shifting and feels cleaner throughout the gears.

    SPEC Stage1 V6 Mustang

    I installed the Stage 1 clutch kit with a SPEC Billet Steel Flywheel. Alignment was was a slow process but everything fit snug and secure. One year later and several thousand miles now, the clutch performs and reacts just as it did day one. During the break in period the only thing noticed was a slight smell shifting into each gear while riding the clutch with higher RPM's. The kit has never slipped or reacted in any manner other than perfectly. In addition to the clutch and flywheel, AM sent me a Maximum Motorsports clutch quadrant, cable and adjuster that are top of the line. With proper installation, this kit can hold up to anything thrown at it for a long time. The way that it engages and operates is worth every penny.

    Defected and tried to return

    It came defected and then when i went to return they send you over to spec which is no help at all because they say o our product is supposed Chutter like crazy and make your drivetrain sound like its going to come off and when you take it off to look at it it all ready has a lot of hot spots all over it in just under a half and hour and the clutch disc is chipped. Highly fount that very much it shouldnt brake its self. Put old one back in and it drives amazing so i will never buy spec again.

    Soft Clutch but great bang for your buck

    Very, Very, Very soft clutch, not a fan of that but for a SPEC 1 you will get more than you paid for outside of such a soft clutch.

    spec stage 1 v6

    Do not waste your money on this clutch. I've had it in mine for about 7000 miles and it chatters like crazy. I'll never buy spec agian.

    performance improvement

    This stage 1 Spec clutch dramatically improved the overall performance of my Mustang v6. My car shifts more smooth, sounds better, the pedal pressure decreased substantially, in which case made driving more comfortable. This clutch kit is amazing for my v6 and I would recommend this clutch to anyone needing to swap out their stock clutch for a performance clutch.
