Review & Install Video
Hey everybody, I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com. This is my detailed review of the MBRP Installer Series Dual Split Side Exit Catback Exhaust system available for 5 liter F-150s. The Installer Series from MBRP is designed to be their entry level or budget system and is going to be for the F-150 owners out there who are looking to make a little bit more noise but without totally wiping out the savings account in the process.
All right, guys, MBRP systems as a whole are usually pretty affordable. Even their full stainless systems come in on the lower side of the price range. How do they go about making the Installer Series that more affordable? Well, a lot of it has to do with the materials used. The Installer Series from MBRP does utilize aluminized steel tubing as opposed to more expensive 304 or 409 grade stainless steel.
The aluminized steel is great because obviously it's durable. It's going to help keep costs down, but it's not going to be as good at resisting corrosion as those more expensive materials. You might see some rust on this thing if you live in the snow belt or the salt belt after some snowy winters. Because of that, MBRP actually says that this thing's only going to have a three-year warranty on it because of the materials used, as opposed to a full lifetime warranty with some of their full stainless systems. Again, that's just a testament to the materials used.
With all that said, guys, you are still getting a very solid system, dual system at that, for a price that's very hard to beat. In fact, at the time of this video, the MBRP dual Exit is the most affordable dual system we offer here at americanmuscle.com. If this thing is still a little too much for you, you're still having problems justifying this to the wife, well guess what? MBRP does offer a single exit system, going to be more affordable, and it's even full three inch from tip to tip.
On the topic of pipe diameter, we are looking at a three-inch system coming off the cat leading into the single bullet muffler and into this large resonator before splitting off from two-and-a-half inch tubing leading out the large three-and-a-half inch polish tips, as you can see embossed with the MBRP logo.
This combination, using a resonator like it does, is going to give you some nice deep tone. It's really not going to be all that raspy at all. As such, it's a strong two, maybe a three out of five on our one to five or one to wake the neighbors scale. Some folks with this system have reported some drone in the lower RPM range, but definitely not a deal breaker in my opinion.
Getting the new F-150 system installed from MBRP really isn't all that bad. For that reason, it's a solid one out of three wrenches on our overall difficulty scale. Depending on your bed and cab size, there might be some cutting involved, so factor that into the equation. Because this thing is so cumbersome, I'd strongly recommend having an extra set of hands with you at the time of the install. But when it's all said and done, a few basic hand tools, maybe a sawzall if you have to trim, and about an hour or two from start to finish.
In the end, guys, the Installer Series Dual Exit Catback is going to be a great entry-level system. If you can get past a little bit of corrosion over the years, you're going to get a nice sounding system for a price that is very, very hard to beat.
