Review & Install Video
Hey, everybody. I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my quick review of the Recon Billet Aluminum Rear Door Sills available with the blue illumination and the Ford logo, fitting all 2009 to 2014 SuperCrew F-150s. You should be checking out the Recon options here if you're looking to add some customization to an often overlooked area in your F-150, and that is, of course, the door sill area. By going with the Recon door sills here, you're going to be adding in upgraded materials, thanks to the billet aluminum construction. You're going to be adding some custom lighting as well, thanks to the blue illumination. Finally, you're going to be showing some love to the blue oval here, with the illuminated Ford logo, front and center of the door sill plates.
Let's first start with those upgraded materials. Now, these Recon door sill plates are constructed from 100% billet aluminum, and the options I have with me here on the table are finished off in an anodized black. Just a heads up, you can grab these same door sill plates, but in a brushed satin finish, also constructed from T6 billet aluminum here. Some of you guys might prefer the brushed satin finish because it will stand out interiors a little bit more. While on the other hand, some of you guys might prefer the more stealthy black option because it will blend in a little bit more.
Along with that billet aluminum construction, you are getting the Ford logo, of course, front and center here, along with some customized lighting that is going to illuminate whenever that rear door is open. Now, these options, again, are going to illuminate in a blue color. But you can grab, again, the same options here with a red illumination if you prefer, and those are available here at AM. Just so you know, guys, this is what Recon does. They're one of the leaders in producing interior and exterior customized lighting for your truck, jeep, or SUV. So these are going to be right in Recon's wheelhouse.
In typical Recon fashion, the door sills and the illumination are all constructed and done very nicely. You are going to be paying for that quality, however, guys. These things are going to land you right in the middle of the $200 and $300 range. So they might be a little excessive for some of you, but they do make a nice impact to the interior overall. Again, guys, these are designed to fit your '09 to '14 SuperCrew F-150 or Raptor, and this is also a great time to point out here that Recon makes a front door sill option as well, with a bunch of different logo options along with that illumination. So these rear door sills would be a perfect complement to those if you really wanted to complete the look.
As for the install, guys, well there is a small amount of wiring needed here, but it is very, very small. You are going to need to tap the Recon door sill plates into your factory dome light harness, which is located beneath the factory door sills on the rear portion of your SuperCrew truck. So once you remove those plastic door sills, simply tap the power and ground harness of the Recon into your factory harness using quick splice connectors, or using a soldering iron if you prefer. Once you determine the door sills are illuminating, simply reinstall the plastic door sills, and then secure the new Recon sills using the included hardware.
You should be wrapped up in about 30 minutes from start to finish here, guys. Even though there is a small amount of wiring and drilling, I'm still willing to give this one a one out of three wrenches on my overall difficulty meter, because they're both very easy and both very straightforward. Now, I really enjoy the look of the Recon door sills and what they add to the interior of the truck. In my opinion, a very simple and classy way to add a small touch of customization. And in my opinion, they would go great with one of those front door sill options also from Recon. So that's my review of the rear Recon door sill options for your '09 to'14 F-150 or Raptor, which you can find right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
