More horsepower and torque. Improve the horsepower and torque of your 2005-2010 GT pony with a set of BBK Shorty headers. These BBK Shorty headers will improve your mustangs exhaust flow increasing your pony's horsepower and torque.

Silver Ceramic Coating. These Tuned Length Shorty Headers are completed in BBK's Polished Silver Ceramic Coating that not only looks great, but reduce under hood temperatures to help increase horsepower and extend the life of the headers. Ceramic Coated headers will long out last both chrome plated and polished headers.

Quality Construction. These BBK Shorty Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1 5/8" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow and one piece laser cut 3/8" flanges for added strength. The headers are then finished with BBK's high-temp Silver Polished Ceramic Coating for good looks and to lower under hood temperatures.

Application. Designed to fit the 2005-2010 4.6 3V GT Ford Mustang. These BBK Ceramic Coated shorty headers include high-quality mounting hardware and gaskets, so that they will bolt right up to your Mustangs stock Mid Pipe.

Hi I’m Justin with, and this is our breakdown of BBK’s tuned length shorty header, available in your choice of either ceramic or chrome for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT. So why would you want to use a set of shorty header versus a set of long tubes? Well in a nutshell, a shorty header is a great entry level header. For one, they’re generally less expensive than a set of long tubes, and they’re going to be easier to install thanks to the fact that you don’t have to modify your mid pipe like you would using long tubes. A shorty header might not make as much power as a set of long tubes, but it’s still going to be a solid upgrade over those cast iron factory manifolds. These particular headers feature what BBK refer to as their tuned length runner design, which basically makes them a hybrid between a long tube and a standard shorty header. In the end, BBK claims slightly more power using these headers versus your standard shorty design, while still maintaining a no modification needed, direct bolt on. Taking a closer look at these headers, you’ll see they feature 1 and 5/8” mandrel bent tubing for better flow, and laser cut flanges for an OEM like fit. As I mentioned before you do have the option of picking these shorties up in either a ceramic coating, or a chrome finish. So what are the differences going to be between the two finishes? For one you can see the chrome finish is a little brighter now, but that’s going to change as these headers heat cycle, turning that bright silver chrome color into a more copperish blue color. However, the ceramic coated headers will stay that bright silver color over the years. Secondly, that ceramic coating is going to be much better at reducing underhood temps, which is always better for performance. Those added benefits do come at a price as ceramic coated headers are generally more expensive than chrome headers, or even stainless steel headers. Doing the install on any set of headers can be a little intense, so it’s a great idea to leave yourself a full day, just in case anything goes wrong. As always if you don’t feel confident with the install, don’t be afraid to give your local shop a call, they should be able to help you out. So if you’re looking for a bolt on header with the installation and price benefits of a shorty header design, with the performance to back it up, then you’ll definitely want to check out a set of these BBK tuned length shorty headers for your ride today.

Do these require a tune?


  • These shorty headers do not require a tune after installation. However, getting a custom tune would help you obtain the optimum performance out of your upgrade!

work with o/r pro chamber I was wondering if these would work with a Mac o/r pro chamber? Not the shorty o/r pro chamber but the one that would connect to the stock manifolds.


  • The coupling is in the same location as the stock manifolds, so I would think that it would.

    Better the stock - tossed OEM rusted boat anchor exhaust manifolds. OEM has it's merrits (million dollar engineering budget quality fitment) BUT high quality SEMA grade AfterMarket items R always welcomed for consideration when economically viable. Weight savings alone coupled with bright and shiny presentation make these TUNED length headers a GREAT buy! Raspy engine sound - valve and exhaust sounds get communicated through the pipe walls near the heads, creating and delivering a unique auditory experience - sounds great on the motor side (not just the tailpipe end). Ceramic coating gives great appearance and CUTS HEAT at the same time. BBK makes quality products; they R priced right and they work great - I believe it's because they RandD their offerings. Bolted up to catted X-pipe mid and stock GT mufflers out back. Collaborative BBK purchases include 62mm twin throttle body and hi-flow fuel rail (mated to Ford Racing injectors CAI and SCT flash Tuner tweak and MSD 'blaster' coils). ALL PURCHASED FROM AMERICAN MUSCLE - GREAT SELLER!!!

    Performance plus!

    These things straight out of the package rock very clean very smooth very good curves! took few hours to bolt onto the engine but, these things will blow them wimpy stock manifolds out the water and help your engine breath better (2thumbs way up) improved sound quality too

    Performance parts

    Had the headers installed on my 06 Mustang GT and with the other upgrades I already had am very happy with the difference in performance and the improved sound of the system. Excellent quality and fit.

    Be prepared

    Overall excellent fit & quality, just a pain to put in... It really put some pep in the step, especially in the low end, coupled with FRPP performance pack, helped to fill a few lulls in the throttle response. Be prepared to remove the passenger side engine mount, I found that you can support and jack the engine on one of the ledges by the oil pan with a 2x3 and a hydraulic jack. The starter does have to come out as well. Really helps to have someone to help, a second set of hands. Also, removal of the battery & battery box makes things go easier. Ratcheting wrenches really helped in the tight spaces (gear wrench or craftsman, swivel head and angled), and few long entensions for the sockets worked wonders. A challenge, but well worth it!

    Highly Recommended!

    The way to go to replace that factory garbage of a rusty manifold mess! These look so good and sound great! Fit and finish second-to-none! These were my choice not only because of cost, but ease of install and the fact that the factory cats are not that restrictive, no worries of check-engine lights etc. Seems to be the right amount of flow/back pressure for this system: BBK Ceramic shorties, FRPP X-Pipe, Pypes Bombs poking out the back, and a custom tune from Bama tops it off! Sounds like a true Beast! Thanks AM!!!

    Nicely Made BBK!

    Nicely made and engineered product. Impressed with the quality and engineering BBK put into these. I don't know how, but even in the tight space these maneuvered into place easier than the stock ones came out. NOT a DIY for inexperienced or ILL equipped and don't expect it to be quick and easy. I'm an intermediate DIYer and it took a bit over 12 hrs over 3 days. I'm sore but satisfied with a good upgrade. Did it on jackstands on gravel driveway. One thing I did I didn't see anyone else mention, to get top front header nut I pulled the belt and loosened the AC compressor bolts to give my deepwell socket room to get it. DID NOT remove, just loosed the bolts so with the belt off could get a little more clearance. Also, didn't remove the starter nor mid-pipe. Like for the AC compressor, I loosened the starter to give clearance wiggle room, and for the mid-pipe I loosened the rear clamps and dropped the front and supported it with jackstands. Made it tight to get the engine mount back in but with a little fiddling it went. From the reviews I was expecting louder and deeper than it is. I have a 2009 Bullitt with the special h-pipe and FR-500 axlebacks. It actually did deepen a little, but overall is more mellow tone. At WOT it's not quiet, but it's a little deeper. Overall, I'd call it a less edgy sound. By seat of the pants, don't feel much but the test run with with a passenger so I'll likely see a bit when solo minus passenger weight. Tempted to go to highflow catted mid-pipe but don't want to lose the Bullitt H-pipe so probably won't. Header - check, SF4 tuner - check, hmmm, Cams or intake next.... Thanks BBK and AM for a great shopping and buying experience.

    These headers added alot of low end torque and not To mention the sound. I have the best sounding stang around with the axel back pype bombs and these shortys , amazing product

    Best looking header Ive ever owned. I had the JBA's on my 07 stang and was not impressed. The BBK's are on my 09 stang and are the way to go. Had them installed at a local shop for the simple reason I didnt have time to do myself. Ive had the headers on my car for about 2000 miles and not one problem. Still look new and the sound is great. The car ran better after I AM sent me a new tune. Love them!!

    A worthwhile pain in my butt!

    As you have surely read from other reviews, these things are absolutely horrible to install, but I was able to do it myself (with some help from a couple of friends dropping by from time to time) in my home garage with basic tools. I really enjoy working on my car and take pride that I have done all of my modifications (aside from the custom tune from BAMA) myself at home. Having said that, I am glad I did the install myself but they were very difficult to install. The most challenging part for me was dealing with the flange bolts between the H-Pipe and the headers as they are located in the tunnel between the footboxes and the transmission and there is very little room there. I spent the majority of the day on my back (roughly 10 hours to do the install for me) so if you don't have a lift, make sure you have a nice creeper or have your wife bring you an old pillow like mine did. Other than the install, the headers are great. Unlike some other headers, they come with gaskets so you have everything you need to do the install. In pictures it looks like you can barely see the headers in the engine bay but really, you can see them pretty well and they look great under the hood. I noticed a warmer (and very wonderful) sound in the car while driving, but the overall noise level with this mod alone will not change much outside the car. If you want loud, you will have to do other mods, but I love the sound of the car now with just the headers and some axle backs.

    Great Product, Disappointing Sound

    Everyone has covered the install wows so I won't. I run BBK shorty's, BBK catted e-pipe and FRPP axle backs. I picked shortys because of our e-test laws here. BBK fit and finish is outstanding, very nice product. With stock manifolds the sound at lower speeds (around town) was aggressive and old school muscle (someone referred to it as subtle NASCAR). Highway was great, down right nasty yet beautiful. Now with with shortys around town its much a more subdued sound (I compare it to an aggressive Subaru STI almost). Highway is certainly more aggressive. If I had to do it over again I'd opt for long tubes to retain that aggressive, muscle car sound. Oh and I've since learned that if you opt for LT's theres no issue with e-testing, with HF cats they'll pass.
