Ask a Question

Will this fit over a FRPP intake manifold (2010 GT)

Smitty554

  • I don't think that one will fit, but the strut tower brace for the 2011-2012 302 boss intake fit over my FRPP intake manifold with a stock hood and insulation on the hood (2008 GT). I would go with that one first. Install took about 10 minutes just lower the hood slowly the first time.

Will this fit a 2005 4.0L V6 that has a plenum cover? I have installed a plenum cover on my 2005 4.0L V6 and would like to know if this strut tower brace will fit with the plenum cover on. also how much space is there between the intake plenum and the bottom of the brace. Thank you

  • I'd hate to swear to it, but my '07 GT/CS has a plenum cover & I have about a half inch clearance without shimming. I am considering adding one washer to the under-side of the brace, but I don't think it's necessary.

    Grea Tower Brace

I really like the tiwer brave appearance under the hood. Not only its looks good but serves it's purpose. Less flex in the body when making wide or sharp turns.

Easy to install, and does its job

This was my first suspension related mod on my stock V6, so it was easy to see how the handling improved. On day-to-day driving you don't know it's there, but when pushing harder to corners the front-end behaves better, and there's definitely less push, making the steering more accurate. It's not the most dramatic improvement, but considering the ease of installation and the low price, knowing now the effect, I would buy it again.

    Simple and effective bolt-on mod

This install took less than 15 minutes and required no relocation of anything on my 2010 V6 convertible. There's good clearance everywhere (even though the instructions said to move something on the firewall). Remove 8 nuts, drop the brace on (it leans to the rear), drop on the included washers and reinstall the nuts. The car used to shake the nose going over bumps but after this install, it feels like one solid unit. It tightened everything up ... nice and firm.

    Had to get creative

Hello fellow mustang owners! I recently purchased the Black SR Performance Strut tower Brace for my 2007 mustang GT. Delivery was prompt and upon opening the package i was impressed with the fit and finish of the product, it looked great. Install: This product normally has an extremely low difficulty level when it comes to installing it, and should only take in my opinion- 30 minutes. **This review will be suited more so for people having difficulty with the bars pre-drilled holes not lining up with the bolts of their strut towers** Upon simply opening the hood and removing the 4 bolts located at the top of each of the strut towers (see directions for proper descriptions) I placed the bar onto the bolts and saw that the pre-drilled holes on the brace did not line up with the cars bolts on one of the Strut towers. This suggested to me that i have a slight tweak in my frame due to some minor accidents in the cars past. Due to the bolts not lining up with the pre-drilled holes by a 1/4" (or about 6mm) on one side of the brace- I did some reading and found a fix. Place a proper floor jack for the weight of your vehicle centered on the K-member under the front of the car. You can use a piece of 2x4 lumber to aid in protecting the metal of the K-member. Use, caution but left the car into the air until the front tires are off the ground. This reversed the stresses of the cars weight and aided in the bar then lining up the the proper pre-drilled holes. Let the car sit for an hour+, then re-lower before unbolting your factory nuts to install the Brace. I saw that this was a fix for a majority of people who have had this issue in the past. Hopefully this will help at least one person who has the same situation. This products function: Upon install, the front of the car seems to handle tighter. This would be a good addition to install with other suspension upgrades. But by itself i would say it cleaned up the sloppy feel of the stock car (which had 82K miles on it) by at least 40-50%. Whenever you encounter a problem: sit back, do some homework, and come at it with a new point of view- you shall prevail. Over all - it made a difference to me, id recommend this.

Great Item, Now Even Better: Washers Are Included

Thanks to all of you past reviewers - your requests have been answered. The bag containing the instructions now has 8 black washers inside. It's a very nice, quality piece; very sturdy with a thick black coating. Looks great and performs well. Installation was pretty simple and straightforward, although I have a V6 and I found that I had to turn the coil pack end of the #4 spark plug wire to clear the bar. Then I rearranged the spark wires for #'s 4-6 at the 1st spark plug wire clip to allow the #4 wire end to stay where I rotated it to.

    Why didn't Ford do this?

Took 15 minutes to install and the difference was incredible. I hated all the body roll that the 2012 V6 had. This tower brace has significantly reduced body roll and handles so much better. Best mod I've done so far!

    Tight Front End

This Strut Tower Brace makes a huge difference in how my baby GT handles. She is tight and hot to drive around corners now. The steering is not too responsive but 1000 times better than how she used to be. She loves corners and bumpy roads now, yeahhh you dont have to worry about those front end floating off the lane into the other when it hits rough patch on the road. Installation was a breeze, fitment was perfect, no problems at all, 13 mm deep socket ratchet is all you need. Got the brace installed in less than 10 minutes and drove for 2 hours right after. Shipping was quick and the price is perfect. A Must have suspension upgrade for your Stang.

    First and Best Upgrade

Just bought a new 2014 Mustang V6 grocery getter and was a little disappointed with the weight distribution and body roll. For the price and quick installation, this was the best modification I could make to help firm up the nose of the car. It does the trick and is indeed noticeable. You could also upgrade the sway bars or lower the car, but start with this cheap and quick solution, plus looks good under the hood. I recommend the product!
