How to Install Black Door Panel Insert - Left Side (94-98 Convertible) on your Ford Mustang

1. Two tabs hold the Insert in the door panel. Pop Insert from door panel, beginning from the top, pulling up and away from the panel. The rear tab then pulls straight up. 
 
2. Flip the Insert over, being careful not to pull the wiring too tight. 
 
3. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws holding the window buttons. You will need them for the new Insert. 

4. Using the flathead screwdriver, gently pry the tab for the power mirror control and pull the connector apart. Be careful, these tabs get brittle with age. 
 
5. Remove the power mirror controller by pressing inward on the two tabs underneath, and pushing it through the top of the Insert. The flathead screwdriver may be useful in starting it through the hole. 

Note:  Now is an excellent time to address any issues with any of the window, door lock, or power mirror buttons. 

• The window and door lock buttons can be replaced without cutting the wiring. Simply pop the old button out, and replace with a new button.  
• All wiring connectors stay in place in the plastic block during this switch. 

1. Press the mirror controller into the new Insert from the top until it clicks. 
 
2. Place the window controls in the holder and tighten the screws. 
 
3. Attach the wiring harness clip to the back of the mirror controller and press together until it clicks in place. 
 
4. Flip the Insert over and push the wiring back into the door panel. 
 
5. Press the rear clip into the door first, followed by the top tab. Make sure the side seats properly on the door panel.
