Will i be able to hear a big differnece if on put this on my v4 mustang Flowmaster Super Flow 44 Series Offset Muffler - 2.5in V6 mustang 2000

scottmillermustang14

  • It won't be Throaty Like a 5.0 but it will be louder. It will sound like a 4 cylinder with a louder exhaust. On my 06 there was a little popping in the begining but that is gone. I do like the louder sound, but it dosen't sound like a 5.0.

Does the "inlet"have to face towards the engine? Had a friend weld in my mufflers, he said it doesn't matter which end goes where. Tried telling him to put the inlets of the mufflers facing foward....he did one correctly and one incorrectly. He's convinced he did everything right.

Scotty16

  • Yes, the inlet on the muffle attaches to the exhaust pipe coming from the engine. There is a reason why the manufacture specifies inlet and outlet.

I am debating or which mufflers to get the 44 series or classic 40 series, I want my mustang to sound like deep, strong roar but at the same time i don't want to loud where I cant enjoy my driving , please help which mufflers will give that perfect muscle sound !

stang101

  • The 44 series has nicest rumble at lower rpms. It's never too loud at highway speeds, but does tend to resonate somewhat depending on the rpm range. I've tried all the favorites and this sounds the best. Headers, and larger diameter exhaust tubing help a great deal more for a serious rumble. All mufflers are somewhat restrictive by the very nature of their design. So that 'sound' you're hoping for will probably require more than just the 44's.

What do i have to do to install this? do i need to go to a shop, or can i do it all in my garage w/ a few jacks. All my exhaust is completly stock, will i need anything else as well?

03AndrewP

  • Your best bet would be take them to a shop, because they require welding. and plus it is just a lot easier and way less of a hastle. I spent $50 getting mine installed.

Is an X-Pipe necessary? I want to improve the sound of my GT. In a perfect world I would get both a Xpipe and new mufflers but I cant afford both of them at the same time. I know an Xpipe would really help the sound and airflow but do I need to buy the Xpipe first? Could I not just get these mufflers welded in at the local shop with my stock catted h pipe? And lastly would the interior drone be any worse if I didn't have the Xpipe. I want better sound on the exterior and NO DRONE. Thanks

Parker

  • I would recommend having the stock mufflers cut out , and weld the new 44 mufflers in , if your on a budget .. Once u have thats done see how u like the sound from there , u will get a deeper tone from the 44 mufflers very low drone .. If u want more of an aggressive deep tone I recommend an H pipe, if u want a higher pitch racey sound then the X pipe will do the job :-)

is the 2.5 inch diameter correct? I see on here it says this muffler has a 2.5 inch diameter but on other sites i found this muffler on it says they have a 2.25 inch diameter and both websites say its compatable with my 1998 mustang and i was wondering if this would actually work on my car.

allsam8

  • Per Flowmaster specs, these mufflers have a 2.5" inlet and outlet. These will fit your 1998 without any problems. Check out some of the product reviews; there are a couple from customers who installed these Super 44s on their '98 and they were very happy with the sound and fit. Hope this helps!

    Perfect amount of muscle!

Bought these for my 02 GT and could not be happier. Wasn't quite in the budget for a full exhaust overhaul so I purchased these and wow I was impressed. My local shop cut these in on my stock piping for $130 and was only an hour of work.. sounds really good especially on the low end. On the highway is definitely noticeable but not too much drone at all. You won't be disappointed with this product at all.

    single v6 muffler

ok i installed this super 44 muffler along with a bbk cai and the sound is instant. at about 2k is when it gets more agressive and for a single exhaust this is the cheapest and best sound. overall a great product and would reccomend it.

Awesome muffler that adds great sound & power. If your 'stang is bone-stock like mine was then this is the perfect item to start with to give it the muscle it deserves.

    Amazing sound

I put these along with a jegs off road h pipe and a CAI on my 97GT and it sounds so awesome. Loud and quality. It may be a little biased, but I think I have the meanest sounding mustang around. Everytime I start it up I just smile.

    Perfect Sound!

If you don't like that high pitch, raspy noise you get from some mufflers and resonators, these mufflers are perfect! they are not extremely loud but can easily be heard sitting idle in the driveway while your in your house. It's loud when you want it to be, but quiets down for cruising speeds. Very happy wit hthis add on!

Recommended for any Mustang GT or V6

Took these mufflers to my local exhaust shop and had them put these on with an h-pipe. I'm not going to say that it made my v6 sound like a Gt but it's pretty dang close. I'm very impressed with the sound and quality of the product. If you want the muscle sound your mustang deserves definitely pick the mufflers up.

    Great!

I bought these mufflers for my '04 Gt. I was almost dissepointed right after the install because they just didn't sound to good.. but I knew they needed to be broken in. over the course of about 3 weeks(420 miles), they finally broke in. Now they sound absolutely AMAZING! Thanks AM!

'04 Mustang with Set of 44's

I had a chance to get a pair of these installed on my Mustang and they sound great. I especially love the sound at around 2K RPM's just like Noel said. Sounds very aggressive and the price was right with these mufflers. I also have a JLT Cold Air Intake which adds a little more cackle to the exhaust when you let off which makes it that much more enjoyable to drive.

    signature FM rumble

these mufflers are really great! I got them welded on by a local muffler shop, because I don't have a welder. The difference is instantly noticeable. Like others have said, around 2K RPM's is where you hear the best aggressive sound. At idle a deep rumble. I highly recommend these 44's to anyone wanting to improve the sound of their GT.

    Great Sound on V6

What a great buy. An affordable way to make your 'stang sound more aggressive. Hear it on acceleration, present during driving, and can really hear it when you rev the engine. I took my car to a local shop so they could remove the old muffler and weld/clamp on the new one. Cost me about $97 but a lot cheaper than buying the tools/knowledge needed.

    I love these mufflers

I ordered two of these mufflers from AM about three weeks ago. At first the sound was ok, then I went on a 200 mile drive on spring break. When I got home from the trip, the sound had conpletely changed. It went from "ok" to amazing. The sound literally gets better every day and everyone loves how it bubbles when you accelerate and let off the gas. I am very happy I bought these!!! Best muffler for weld-in's period.

    Super 44 Catback

I had a custom 2 1/2" catback with 3 1/2" tips using Super 44s. It is on an 02 GT. It sounds and performs amazingly. No drone whatsoever with this setup. I can even have a normal conversation at 80mph with a convertible.

    Awesome mufflers

Flowmaster did a great job with the 44 series. The deep tone is exactly what a Mustang should sound like. Not excessively loud, but certainly noticeable. An absolutely awesome buy.
