yes or no for a Flowmaster muffler on a v6 i just bought a 2002 mustang v6 and i want it to sound louder then it is now , i took the car to a muffler shop and the guy said he wouldnt suggest it because it would sound weird on a v6 , is there any other product or suggestions any one has ? please and thank you

Is an X-Pipe necessary? I want to improve the sound of my GT. In a perfect world I would get both a Xpipe and new mufflers but I cant afford both of them at the same time. I know an Xpipe would really help the sound and airflow but do I need to buy the Xpipe first? Could I not just get these mufflers welded in at the local shop with my stock catted h pipe? And lastly would the interior drone be any worse if I didn't have the Xpipe. I want better sound on the exterior and NO DRONE. Thanks

Parker

  • I would recommend having the stock mufflers cut out , and weld the new 44 mufflers in , if your on a budget .. Once u have thats done see how u like the sound from there , u will get a deeper tone from the 44 mufflers very low drone .. If u want more of an aggressive deep tone I recommend an H pipe, if u want a higher pitch racey sound then the X pipe will do the job :-)

Hello, Can I put this on my 2003 V6, single exhaust to make it a little louder and more powerful? thank you

Sawyer

  • Hey Sawyer, This muffler will fit on your v6 pipe if you were to install just one of course. As in power mufflers do not really give you any power because its so far back at best you'll get 2 or so ponys out of it, and in sound with your mustang being a v6 the sound will be different compared to the v8 models but will definitely have an increase.

I bought the American Thunder cat-back which has this muffler for my v6 mustang and I love it. My only complaint is that on the highway there is a drone and it's a little loud. Could I switch to a different muffler or could I do anything else to lower the drone?

EthanC

I have pypes violator catback how does this compare in tone , aggression and loudness?

StevenS

My main confusion is what is the difference between the flowmaster 40's and the flowmaster 44's. I have a 99 gt and I want a deep growl, but I also want it to be a medium loudness. Any suggestion on which I should purchase?

    I'm impressed!

I've owned several 99-04 Mustang GT's and I've always put flowmaster mufflers on them. In the past I went with the super 40s. Most recently I went with the super 44s and they are by far better sounding in my opinion. These mufflers make the super 40s seem tame. If you own a 99-04 Mustang GT these mufflers are the one for you. No need to even bother with an off road x or h pipe, they sound awesome with stock h pipe and cats.

    Perfect amount of muscle!

Bought these for my 02 GT and could not be happier. Wasn't quite in the budget for a full exhaust overhaul so I purchased these and wow I was impressed. My local shop cut these in on my stock piping for $130 and was only an hour of work.. sounds really good especially on the low end. On the highway is definitely noticeable but not too much drone at all. You won't be disappointed with this product at all.

    Sound Quality is Better

I have an '86 Fox GT with a short ram intake and BBK shorty headers. When I installed the Super 44s by Flowmaster, the sound quality improved. As for the volume, it remained the same. The only difference is that I know have a mean rumble at low RPMs. I daily drive my Fox to school and I'm noticing a ton of people turn their head to see me pulling in and pulling out of campus. Overall, I'm satisfied with this product.

    Super 44's really are SUPER

I have stock headers, H-pipe, cats. even with all that, the super 44 is a must buy. Had a buddy weld em in. Soon as they got on, turned the key, and could tell a major improvement over stock.Deep throaty rumble when cold, a little quieter once warm. Great volume as you accelerate. On the highways, its quiet, but you can tell its a tad louder than stock. However, accelerating from a stop, even a mild acceleration, you will hear the difference! Cruising back roads is alot more fun now, as is getting on the highways! In the parking lot at work, I've gotten heads to turn as I rev the engine. Basically its slightly louder than normal at idle, but its loud when you want it to be. High recommend!

I completely recommend this product 100% It has an amazing sound to it after you get them broke in (roughly about 300-500 miles max). This is definitely the muffler you want to buy!!!

The iconic muffler for a Fox

This replaced the 40 Series as what should be the classic Fox sound....nothing sounds like a 5.0 (347's) too than this muffler. Yes it drones but I have never minded it. If you dont like drone, DO NOT GET THIS MUFFLER

    Single exhaust 02 v6

I would say I get a lot of looks and thumbs up. Even if it has a single exhaust it still sounds great. When the car is cold it's at it's loudest. I would buy one again. I don't think the neighbors like it in the morning. HAHAHAHA

    Great Product

Car sounds great at idle, has a nice rumble that's not to loud for the neighbors to complain. They sound better as you go threw the rpm range, right at 2000 is the best sound.

    Turning Some Heads

First of all let me tell you i have a V6, this is my first add on, and i was a little skeptical about the sound, But let me tell you I am in love with my car all over again!!! I installed it THIS MORNING and have already got a countless number of compliments, and I even had a few people want to race! It is not obnoxious and actually sounds like a real muscle car!

    Flowmaster 44's ROCK!

I had a pair of these installed by a local muffler shop for $45 where they cut off the stock mufflers and welded the new 44s in place. Soumd is awesome, especially with the new CAI and throttle body I installed. Around 2K rpm these babies really growl but they do not resonate like some mufflers so the sound is throaty but not super loud, unless you really get into it. Makes the stang sound so much better than the stock duals. Really glad I added these and the cost from AM was half what local shops were pricing the same 44's.

    Let her sing!

I put two of these bad boys on my 4.6L to replace the factory mufflers. WOW. Sounds great. I sometimes ride around town with my windows down and radio off just to listen to the old girl purr! I highly recommend purchasing a pair!

    03 Mustang GT

The 44s along with the cold air intake kit gives my Mustang the sound that inspires me to get on the road and ride. Like a musician looking for that special tone. I found the tone I was looking for at a very affordable price.

These mufflers are a good example of what i think every mustang should sound like! I bought an 88 Gt and the super 44s came on it,but if they didn\'t I still would have bought them from AM! amazing sounding mufflers glad you guys have them now.

    I love these mufflers

I ordered two of these mufflers from AM about three weeks ago. At first the sound was ok, then I went on a 200 mile drive on spring break. When I got home from the trip, the sound had conpletely changed. It went from "ok" to amazing. The sound literally gets better every day and everyone loves how it bubbles when you accelerate and let off the gas. I am very happy I bought these!!! Best muffler for weld-in's period.

    single v6 muffler

ok i installed this super 44 muffler along with a bbk cai and the sound is instant. at about 2k is when it gets more agressive and for a single exhaust this is the cheapest and best sound. overall a great product and would reccomend it.

    Amazing sound

I put these along with a jegs off road h pipe and a CAI on my 97GT and it sounds so awesome. Loud and quality. It may be a little biased, but I think I have the meanest sounding mustang around. Everytime I start it up I just smile.
