Type of Mufflers that are with the Ford Racing Sport Axel-Back Exhaust I know I've read that Borla makes the mufflers for the Ford Racing Sport Axle-Back Exhaust (11-14 GT). But what Borla Mufflers are they the Touring, S-Type, or ATAK?

DRoy

  • In my opinion they are closest to touring but louder. The touring borla and ford racing touring are pretty much identical.Touring are 50 state legal and sport are 49 legal.

I am having difficulty deciding between the Ford Racing Sport Axle-Back and the Roush Axle-Back. The Ford Racing is considerably more expensive and I am wondering wether it is worth the additional cost. I like the sound of both when listening to audio clips. Thanks for your input. Tim

Tim

  • There aren't many differences between the Ford Performance Sport Axle-Back Exhaust (11-14 GT) and the Ford Performance Sport Axle-Back Exhaust (11-14 GT), item # 50148, (http://www.americanmuscle.com/ford-axleback-2011gt.html). The Sport Axle-Backs feature a T-304 Stainless Steel Tubing while the Roush Axle-Backs feature 409 Stainless Steel tubing. Not to mention the difference in sound. The Roush Axle-Backs are going to be a lot more raspy and the Sport Axle-Backs are going to be more throaty. It all comes down to which sound you like best. I suggest going on Youtube and listening to this Exhaust with other applications installed.

    Excellent sound and fitment

What an amazing sound! Quite loud on accelaration, but drone free when cruising. The rolled tips look great, and 3.5" fills out the valence nicely. Installation was straightforward, but make sure you have spare clamps new muffler clamps are not included in that package (I cut off my stockers and re-used). I installed on my ramps in the garage in about an hour. Highly, highly recommend these!

    Amazing sound and quality

First off, these mufflers are actually built by Borla for Ford Racing, so the quality is perfect. The 4" tips fill the rear valence perfectly and installation is easy. The sound is perfect in my opinion. It gives the car a nice growl and "barks" when you give it some gas. There is absolutely no drone also! At idle it sounds mean, but not too loud. The sound itself is louder than the GT500 exhuast but has the same tone. These axle-backs are well worth the price.

    Refined volume -Very Pleased!

I spent a long time researching, listening to clips, and I could not be happier. I wanted something louder than stock, but not obnoxious. Something that complemented this new refined 5.0 OHC motor. Definitely much louder than stock, but with a deep refined sound off the line, and screams at the high end. Absolutely no drone. Very good deep pulse at idle, and really comes to life right off the line. They can get you noticed when you step on it, but can also be docile. You can hear your radio or do sync commands just fine. Fit and finish are excellent, centered right up in the rear cut outs. The chrome tips with the "Ford Racing" logo look really cool sticking out the back. The passenger side was a bear until I figured out to take off the forward bracket and install it with the muffler as an assembly - made the whole job much easier. You can't go wrong with these. American Muscle had best price a quick/free shipping. P.S. they are made by borla for FRPP, with a perforated straight through design surrounded by a resonating chamber - really good design!

    2013 GT Satisfied

I picked these over the Borla S type after a ton of listening to each online. I'm very satisfied with the overall look, quality, fit and finish of the mufflers. They sound fantastic! They are quite loud at WOT, but make virtually no noise at low idle. The installation was straight forward, but these mufflers didn't come with directions. I was able to download directions off AM's website, and they were very easy to follow. Lubrication is a must for removing the rubber brackets, but otherwise everything was smooth. Overall I'm very satisfied with the purchase. The mufflers arrived quickly after ordering and were in perfect condition upon arrival. I'd recommend these to anyone with the one drawback being cost.

    couldn't imagine it sounding better

Wow, does this exhaust sound great. I was worried ordering an exhaust over the internet. I did a lot of research and watched alot of videos on youtube. I decided on these axle backs and the sound is amazing Not annoying or loud when crusing on the highway and doesn't attract attention when you don't want it....if you know what i mean ; ) When you do get in the gas, you really get to hear what the new 5.0l sounds like when it exhales. Sounds amazing. It defentily has some volume, i would say about middle of the pack for loudness. the sound is refined and doens't sound cheap. The quailty of construction seems excellent and it installs within an hour. heres a video if you want to get a idea of what it sounds like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5cYRP5EsQw

After many sound clips and reviews I went with the Ford Racing axle back. Great low rumble at start up! It is about the same as stock while crusing. Excellent muscle car sound when on the gas.No drone at highway speeds. Was the perfect choice for me and my 2013 GT.

Ford Racing Sport Axel Back Exhause

Wanted little more growl but no increase in "drone." Had good info obtained from Youtube reviews. Sales guy knew his stuff and said this was same produce as my other choice, just different branding. Did sound meter check on before and after regarding interior noise. Absolutely no difference. Good increase in outside exhaust note, all good, and lower, V8 growl. Good look on exhause tips, bigger than stock. Had shop install, 45 minutes, $65, so that was good deal. Overall I am very very pleased and AM provided good info, delivery, and price. Thanks.

    Old School Muscle Car Sound

These things rumble!! They are quiet at cruise but when you step on it look out! I have these with the Boss Quad exhaust and the sound is pure heaven. Fit and finish are perfect they are on the expensive side but I think well worth the money.

I have looked at several kinds of exhaust and chose the ford racing exhaust. They sound awesome and there is no drone while cruising. If you are looking for v8 sound, but not extremely loud then this is the best exhaust. I'm completely satisfied.

    Wow!

I installed these myself in just over an hour using a jack and jack stands in my driveway. Getting the stock mufflers off was the hardest part. Once I finally got them off, I removed the hanger brackets from the car and attached them to the new exhaust and it took maybe 15 minutes to get them on the car and lined up. All I can say is: Wow! These things sound terrific. I took it out for a spin after the install and turned quite a few heads. They are loud when you get on the gas and have a nice rumble when idling. When you are cruising there is absolutely no drone at any speed or rpm. They are a little on the pricey side but they are well worth it.

    As advertised or better!

What a glorious sound. As soon as you turn the key, you will get that thrill every time. After the engine settles into its idle it gets reasonably quiet. Kinda barks when you want it to. No drone at steady RPMs. You will want to ride with your windows open and the radio off all the time. Install takes moderate skills, tools and patience.

    Lovin it

I followed the same path it seems so many do listening to sound clips trying to decide . I just wanted something I could hear and enjoy , not so much turn heads . After much thought I just bought the Ford Racing Sport Axle Back with fingers crossed that they would not be to loud but just right . In two days a box arrived and installation commenced . I had read to just slid the stock unit back and drop the rubber hangers . Worked great and were in place in about a hour . Now came the moment of truth . Turned the key and it was music to my ears . Very nice rumble and not to loud . It is not noticed cruising until you step on it and then very a pleasant sound to let you know thing are happening . Was exactly what I wanted , very pleased with product and American Muscle service

    Exactly as Advertised

In this day of internet purchases where items that are received seem to be quite different from what they were supposed to be. It is good to know that products from AM and Ford Racing are exactly what they are claimed to be. Outstanding fit, finish, quality and the sound is perfect. I have had LOUD cars in the past which I enjoyed but this time I wanted an authoritative exhaust note that was not a pain in the ear on road trips (70-75mph NO DRONE). The deep rumble these produce fit my requirements perfectly. Put your foot in it and the sound is fantastic. Not overly loud but considerably louder than stock. Down shifting as you come to a stop also produces an awesome rumble. Free shipping and the product shipped the same day it was ordered. VERY SATISFIED!!!

    Ford Racing Sport Axle-Back Exhaust

Fantastic fit & finish! Sounds deep and throaty; very nice, just like it should have from the factory. I'd highly recommend these axle-backs for anyone looking to liven up their exhaust note without raising too much racket and waking the neighbors.

    Just right...

This was one of my first mods. Installation is very easy. A spare set of hands of course will make is easier. I reused my old exhaust clamps from my stock mufflers with no issues. Now to the good part. The exhaust note is perfect especially if you are looking for something deep. I have not experienced any drone at all. The night I installed these I pulled out of the garage and my neighbors were asking what I just did to the car because it sounded different. Of course I haven't stopped there. Mix these with Ford Racing's Boss 302 quad exhaust H-pipe and you will be making a symphony of exhaust notes from the side and rear of the car. Everywhere I go people ask what exhaust I'm running. I highly recommend these FRPP mufflers, even more so with the Boss 302 H-pipe!! AmericanMuscle was great getting all these products to my doorstep as well!!!

    Amazing look

There are louder axle back kits out there. If youre want to be heard loud and clear from half a mile away these are not for you. However, they are MUCH louder than the stock exhaust and the tone is amazing. Its a low, deep growl that will get noticed....the louder axle backs dont sound nearly as nice tone wise. I can hear my car from about two blocks away when its approaching which is a huge improvement. Youre paying for the tips with this set up, and the tips are GREAT. I'm running all Ford Racing mods on my 2014 GT Premium and the embosssed tips just make my car that much cooler. The tips stick out past the rear bumper further than any axle back ive seen so far.
