GMS Cold Air Intake (15-17 Ecoboost)

Installation Time

1 hours

This is a no tune required systems.

1. We recommend you disconnect the Negative Post of the battery before beginning the Installation.

2. Remove the factory air intake pipe from the Turbo all the way to the air box. This is accomplished by loosening the hose clamps on both ends.
Note: There is a pinch style clamp on the small black rubber hose near the turbo that needs to be removed as well as removing the quick release vacuum line. To remove the quick release vacuum line, simply pull up on the small tab, then slide the release counter clockwise. While holding the release tab pull the vacuum line up and away from the intake tube.

3. Remove the factory air box and air intake ducting in its entirety by simply removing the single 10mm bolt holding the air box and unplugging the air inlet temp sensor wire. The part will snap out with minor effort.

4. Remove the air inlet temp sensor from the factory unit. To do this, turn approximately 1/8 turn counter-clockwise then pull - See Figure 1 below

5. While not required, it makes it a lot easier to install the Granatelli inlet tube if you move the coolant expansion tank out of the way. If you elect to do this step, simply remove the (2) 10mm bolts fastening the tank to the fan shroud. Then move the tank up and out of the way to your left. There is no need to drain or leak fluid, just move it out of the way.

6. Install the supplied reduction coupler onto the factory turbocharger using the supplied clamp.

7. Carefully install the new Granatelli intake tube into the coupler (installed in step 6) allowing the filter end top point down and toward the driver side headlight cavity. Note: Air filter will be installed later. The Filter end of the tube is the side that has the small round bung that holds the factory air temp sensor we removed in step 4.

HAVE AN ASSISTANT HOLD THE COOLANT RESERVOIR UP AND OUT OF THE WAY - THIS GREATLY AIDS IN THE TUBE INSTALLATION TO PREVENT SCRATCHING - TAKE YOUR TIME!!

8. Once correctly positioned you will note the 2 large holes in the air intake tube bracket will line up with cylinder head. Using the hardware supplied fasten the part into place but do not tighten yet. You will need a little play to get the air filter on.

9. Installing the air filter is accomplished by raising and supporting the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the front bumper pan giving access to the driver inner and under fender (its not a big job and makes things way easier). The other way is the remove the driver side front tire and inner plastic fender well.

Note: Before installing the filter loosen and rotate the horn vertically to give clearance for the oversize conical filter, then simply install and tighten the filter. The filter must have 1/4" clearance from the horns and all other surrounding parts, adjust the filter and horn to accomplish this. Failure to adjust a bit of clearance cold cause damage to your air filter. Now simply Re-assemble the fender well or bumper pan and lower the vehicle back to the ground.

10. Install the temp sensor from the factory air intake into the Granatelli air tube. It will index into the tube easily and can be locked into place by turning the part back into the tube clockwise. It may be easier if you lube the o-ring before installation. Please make sure to re-connect the wiring harness as well or a check engine light will illuminate.

11. Tighten the 2 bolts into the head, holding the intake tube. Snug is all you need. Do not over tighten. Confirm all clamps are tight.

12. Install the quick connect fitting on to the Granatelli Intake tube by pushing it on and into place.

13. Installation should be completed. When first starting the vehicle, you will hear a whoosing sound for about 6 to 10 seconds. This is the throttle body self indexing the blades.
