Hey, guys. Justin here. As you can see, actually working on my own car for once. It's a nice little change of pace. You guys always see me working on the project cars and the Bolt-on build-ups and all that stuff. Well, I wanted to let you in on what I'm working on with my own Mustang. I have mentioned my 1927 Ford a few times. I've been working on that at home of course, but I figured this was a great time to show you my main ride. Recently upgraded to the 2014 Mustang GT, track pack, some other little bells and whistles. Had to get the Recaro Seats, of course, which were a must. But anyway, we're doing some mods. Spring's just about here. So, it's finally time to start working on this thing. Concentrating on the suspension today, I'll show you guys a little bit more about that in a minute, but I had to get rid of that stock ride height. It was absolutely hideous. So, Ryan and I are working on that. But of course, I did take care of a few of the basic mods so far, so I got the C&L intake along with the Bama tune. C&L, just a great intake and if I can be a little cheesy here, the blue couplers do go nicely with those Boss coil covers if I may say. Also, I know it's a little silly, but had to get the hood struts in place. Just a nice mod to have especially when you're wrenching under the hood like Ryan's doing all the work right now. Just clears out a little extra space, so definitely a must have mod and then, of course, we did the exhaust. I actually am going with the quad-tip Magnaflow street series. They're already installed. I did the rear valance along with it which I had to cut the bumper up a little bit. You guys will see that of course, but I got a good game plan for this car. It's going to be a little aggressive, but I definitely want to go GT500 inspired, but I'm just going to have fun with it, see how it comes together. Now, we're actually going to concentrate again on suspension today and show you guys what we're working on. So, check it out. All right, guys. Definitely tackling some of the performance and suspension basics here today. For instance, we're installing the Koni STR.T shocks and struts along with the SR Performance lowering springs. Now, you guys hear me talk about those SR springs all the time. We use them on a lot of our project cars and I'm even trusting them on my own car because they're a great product. They give you one and a half inch drop on all four corners which I think is just right amount. It's not totally slammed, but again it takes care of some of that wheel gap and the STR.T's are great as well. The adjustables are nice, the Koni yellows, but for the basic use of just lowering the car, handling the lowering spring, giving you a little bit more of a sporty ride, the STR.T's are a way to go. The STR.T's are nice because you can use them with your factory top-hat or your strut mount and you don't have to use an 2005 to 2010 GT500 strut mount, but my case, I just really like to be able to dial in everything, so I'm going with the J&M caster camber plates up top here, which would really set off this package. All right, guys. Ryan and I just finished up the front. We've got the shocks in the rear, the springs in place. Now, we're moving onto the SR Performance Panhard Bar which we have installed already, but we're going to be making some adjustments and that's the important part with these adjustable panhard bars. SR does a great job, they offer double adjustability here because when you think about it, you lower the car with a standard length panhard bar and basically the rear axle wants to shift to the driver's side pushing the tire out further over there which is not a good thing. So, the adjustable bar gives you the ability to basically center the rear axle under the car which is huge in lowering of course, gives you the best performance and to do so you pretty much just got to rig up a crude little plumb-bob just to make your measurements. Load up the suspension. Make your measurements, make some small adjustments if you need to and then get this puppy centered underneath the car, so we're going to make our final adjustments and see how we look. All right, guys, so that's going to do it for today. Obviously we kept things pretty simple. Just took care of the caster/camber plates, spring, shocks, struts, and the panhard bar, but the car's finally looking good. Ride height wise, we got rid of that ugly factory wheel gap and I'm very happy with how the car's sitting now. I do have some wheels in mind for the car of course, but it is still a little nasty up here in the northeast. There's still a lot of salt on the road, so in the meantime I'm sticking with the Brembo wheels. Do have a little bit of appearance stuff coming up. You can kind of see where that GT500 theme's coming from and of course definitely going to dive into the engine bay and take care of some parts there. GT and V6 Installation Note. Installation of this Shelby GT500 rear valance diffuser on a GT or V6 model will require modifing the stock rear bumper fascia cover. You will need to cut and remove the lower section of the cover and cut slits to retain the valance. Fortunately Ford pre-marked the backside of the factory fascia cover showing exactly where you need to cut making the job much easier.

How much room in width would I have for the tips? I'm wanting to go with aftermarket quad tips on my roush mufflers, and was wanting to know how much room I have to work with for this product.


Has anyone painted this to match their car's color? For example I wonder how it might look to paint this and the license plate surround a semi glossy black to match my mustang.

I am looking to buy and install the Shelby gt 500 rear valence for my 2014 GT. I was wandering after install, when choosing axle backs, should I purchase 13-14 quad tips or 11-12 quad tips? I plan on running Corsa Quad tipped Axle Backs but want to make sure I purchase all the right parts for the install.


  • I would say to buy relative to the 13/14 model gt500 because that is what the Ford Performance Shelby GT500 Rear Valance (13-14 All) is based off of.

would this work on a 2010 gt with some modding? I want to put the gt500 quad tip exhaust on my gt.


  • I think it's the best for u to get the 2013-2014 rear bumper, then u can even put the 13-14 lights on without any gaps. And the rear valance will fit with some simple cutting as well.

    Nice Rear Valance, missing some hardware

    Install for this valance is very straight forward. You remove the bumper and cut along the lines on the back to make this valance fit. I used a combination of a drill, sawzall, and dremel and didn't really have any issues. One thing that is missing though is there should be 2 bumper retainer fasteners included with this valance. They go on the outer most edge at each side of the valance, and while they are not required, they make the valance fit better. I improvised by going to autozone and finding bumper fasteners that would work. The packaging of this valance could also be better. Mine had a few minor scratches on it but nothing noticeable until you were right up on the car so I let it slide. All in all though this is a nice valance if you want to go the quad tip route.

    Nice addition!

    2-3 hour install. Ford embosses the inside of the bumper so you know where to cut. Run down to staples and get a gold sharpie and trace the embossed line. Slot cut outs require a 5 thirty seconds drill bit. Oh and don't forget the air saw. This isn't a project you can do with your dad's scroll saw.

    Simple install just alittle time consuming

    Alittle time consuming but it will be worth it once it's all done, it totally changes the rear end of the car with the the quad tip exhaust

    Looks amazing and easy to install!!

    I was able to knock this out myself in about 2 hours and that's being very careful and very precise when cutting my bumper. It can be nerve wrecking but just stay calm and take your time. Taking off the bumper makes it 10x times easier to work with. I'd definitely recommend this and the Magnaflow Quad tips to ANYONE!!

    Great Rear Upgrade

    Installed this with the Shelby quad exhaust in about an afternoon, couldn't be happier. Looks great compared to stock bumper, looks much meaner from behind. You do have to cut your bumper, but there are lines on the inside of the bumper that tell you where...but still...you are cutting up your Mustang. Install takes about 3 hours, but I really took my time on the cuts. Anyone with a little DIY in them can knock this out.

    What I loved about installing this is the stock bumper already has a line to guide your cut for this valance. And don't stress too much over the cut, the valance will cover up any imperfections. I do recommend making this a weekend project and having a second set of hands. Cool thing is this kit looks completely stock after everything was finished. Now I have that quad exhaust look of the 2013+ Shelby without the price tag! A must have!

    Rear Upgrade

    This valance was easy to install. Just remove the taillights, pop off the rear bumper cover, trace the factory cut line and slot markings, cut along the cut line with an air saw, drill-out and cut the slots and clean up the edges with a file. Once the cutting and clean-up are done just push out the black insert and reflectors and push in the valance and reinstall the reflectors. Then reinstall the bumper cover and tail lights. Once installed it gives the rear of the car a more muscular look. I installed a Corsa axle-back quad exhaust with mine. The Corsa exhaust completely fills the openings and looks awesome with the GT500 Valance.

    I really looked around and around for something to really set my car off. This did the job PERFECTLY. It took close to 3 or 4 hours to do. The hardest part was cutting the bumper. Taking our your taillights will help A TON. Its simple to remove them. I was astonished after I was done, I was literally speechless If you buy this valance you will need to buy the Shelby gt500 axlebacks, or buy Quad tips(I have the Roush axleback now with quad tips) to finish off the look. If you have single tips, in my opinion, it will look a little odd because of the wider holes. I also put CDC performance grille and RTR chin spoiler on as well. I literally drive the Best looking car on campus now, thanks to American Muscle. Fast shipping, Great Products! AM all the way!

    Gt500 rear valance amazing

    This item converts your mustang rear to the one of a GT500. I strongly recommend you buy dual tip exhausts for this. It looks great however, it is not going to be a perfect fit. Some cutting will be done for this to fit.

    Order this valancer for my 2013 gt together with stainlessworks Shelby gt 500 catback system yes it works and it fits without any issues sounds amazing, and the look this valancer gave the car with the quad tips is just amazing

    Awesome product! Easily able to install without removing rear bumper. I found it was easiest to get the rear of the car on jack stands so you have more room to work. Takes less than an hour to install and well worth the money. Great quality and awesome fit. I have absolutely no complaints.

    GT to GT500

    I purchased this exhaust with the rear valance which was sold separately. I am giving the entire kit 4 stars instead of 5 because CJ pony parts sells them together at a cheaper price but the sake of convenience I still purchased the kit thru americanmuscle because there was a 15 dollar coupons I used but i still paid slightly more of 5 dollars for the entire kit. They gave me the option to call but I decided to dive in and purchase them anyway. When I received the rear valance in the mail, the packaging was not very impressive. The box was opened and they didn't give enough care to pack it better because the valance was light and the two appendages looks like it will come off if your not careful in handling it. Anyway I took the rear valance with me to the shop to get it installed with my magnoflow quad tips. What a difference in appearance my car makes Combine with the exhaust she is worth every penny you will love our car even more.

    Perfect fit and looks great.

    Once you start taking everything off, it doesn't take long to finish the job. I would say ah the most it takes 2-3 hours. You have wiggle room for the cutting the previous bumper and making the holes for the clips and it comes out perfect.
