Ask a Question

Do they have a break in period?

AmGT

  • The Koni STR.T Rear Shock does have an "unofficial" break-in period. The shocks will settle just as springs, and it may just take about a week. The Koni's tend to be pretty harsh on their first use, but after being driven on for a little, they will operate as intended and will become much more manageable.

    Great stock replacements

These shocks are feeling awesome. But I'm taking them off a car with original shocks with 200k . Car is lowered pretty good about 2-3 inches all around. Wished they were just a bit stiffer though. But all around ecstatic I changed them!

    Rusted Rear Koni shocks

I have had my rear Koni shocks for less than a year (10 months) and the are extremely rusted. I called Koni about warranty replacement and was told that rusted shocks were NOT covered by the Lifetime warranty. The shocks have to be malfunctioning before the would replace them. I guess I will have to wait for them to rust completely through, before I can have them replaced. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in Koni. Otherwise, the shock perform very well and improve the handling of the Mustang.

    Huge improvement over stock shocks!

I was riding around in my 95 GT on factory shocks and they were awful! I installed these shocks along with Eibach Pro Kit springs and the ride quality has improved dramatically. Still has that sports car feel over bumps but recovers much more quickly and they don't bottom out like my factory ones did. The fitment was spot on. Certainly worth every dollar I spent on these!!

    Exactly what I hoped for!

My 2001 GT was bought at 109,000 miles last month and it was still 100 bone stock. First thing I noticed was that that rear of the car bounced up and down and it had the ride quality of a Cadillac. I actually noticed the same even worse on another GT with similar mileage that I had test driven first. So... Ford OE shocks must have a short life. New rear shocks were one of the first things I wanted to do. I debated buying some from a local auto parts store, but I have not been happy with some of the "cheap" shocks I've bought before. So I decided to try these Koni shocks since they appear to be specific to these cars. Wow!! The installation took 14 minutes! I didn't even have to jack up the car or remove the wheels! The ride quality is awesome! Much firmer than what was on the car stock...but still doesn't beat you up! Car is fun to drive again! A I'm using these with Eibach Sportline coils and factory isolators and it's exactly the ride and stance I wanted. Very happy.

    Wow! I wasnt expecting this!

The difference with the stock shocks and struts is night and day! Fits right in, it only took me about 55 minutes to replace all four. For the ride quality of the car now i'd say these koni's are perfectly priced. Definitely a must if you want to upgrade your suspension. Highly recommend it.

    Koni STR.T Rear Shock

With 90,000 miles on my stang, the shocks and struts were starting to "dip", and it was time to change them. Installed these about a month ago with my friend who is a mechanic in an afternoon. All I have to say is "wow", such a difference. Just sitting in the car, it felt more solid. These shocks go over speed bumps and potholes with no problem. Even backing out of my driveway, I noticed a difference in how the old system made it obvious I was going from driveway to street. Now, the car pretty much glides over any difference in ground clearance. I recommend this product. This kit also leaves room for you if you want to upgrade the rest of your suspension system, which is good to keep in mind. Get these Koni's, you won't be disappointed.

    Koni STR.T Shocks and Struts

With 70,000 miles on my Mustang it was definitely time for new shocks and struts. My car is street driven and never goes to a track. After searching, I decided on the Koni STR.T shocks and struts. American Muscle price matched them and I got a great deal. The ride is just a little firmer than stock, but not harsh at all. The ride is good, exactly what I was hoping for and expecting. The swaying and dipping feeling I had before is gone and the car drives and handles great now. It feels very solid. The install was easy. I just used installation instructions posted here for other sets and had no trouble at all. This was a good purchase and I am very happy with the Konis.

QUALITY BRAND NAME, QUALITY PRODUCT FOR YOUR RIDE, AT A DECENT PRICE...!

Noticed a difference right away dropping off the curb...especially with nitto 295/45/18 s on my rear.. big meats like to rub.. if that your problem buy these they will firm up your ride.... quick install with two people but I did it myself with extension bars on ratchet to reach top of shock from trunk and take wheel off and reach through fender and hold shock..and loosen... very easy... use jack stands for safety.. enjoy the ride.. Great upgrade, esp for lowered Mustangs!

I really like these shocks, they helped the handling and ride quality of my 02 GT tremendously. I put lowering springs only last year and the ride/handling took a serious nosedive. What an improvement, it rides really close to before but handles much better. It's a more aggressive ride, but that's expected from lowering any car. My car no longer bounces and wiggles all over the road. Highly recommended product. I've never installed shocks or struts before, but I tackled this in my garage and it wasn't too bad. A tip tho, you need a decent impact to remove and tighten the top nut.

    Koni Shocks

After 110,000mi my shocks were shot in my 99 Mustang. These Koni's were on sale and Justin recommended them as a good option. These are not as stiff as the last ones but sure solved my problem and are a great buy. Glad I purchased them

    Definitely a 50$ shock

Definitely will not buy this brand again, I needed new shocks and struts so I got these for the rear and a pair of used kyb up front. And holy cow these suck. They are so soft. When I go over speed bumps the front is fine at the same speed but I cringe before my rear wheels go over. My car is stock height, looks like I could off road so no reason for this to act like that. I'm sure the springs and what not are worn but these are not very good. The Orange looks kinda cool though lol

    So Far So Good

I recently installed the KONI STR.T rear shocks with the KONI STR.T front struts and I am very happy. I have had them installed for about 3 weeks now and so far so good. I have HandR Super Sport springs, Steed X2 Ball Joints, and MM Aluminum Steering Rack Bushings. These have greatly improved ride quality, body roll, and handling.
