Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a closer look at the Pypes violator series catback exhaust, fitting the 98-04 Mustang GT, Mach 1, and Bullitt. Pypes exhaust systems usually feature very aggressive tones and it’s the same with the violator kit shown here. The name comes from the two violator series mufflers that this entire kit is built around. They actually feature mini sound deflectors in place of the traditional baffles, which will really allow your 4.6 to be heard. As for the construction we’re looking at full 409 grade stainless throughout, including the 2.5” mandrel bent tubing, the violator mufflers, and those 3.5” OE style polished tips. We do have this exact same kit used on our 98 GT bolt on build up, in conjunction with Pypes’ off road X-pipe which they refer to as their beast setup, and let me just say I am a really big fan of this exhaust. As for the install you will need to cut your factory exhaust just to remove it entirely but after that the new Pypes system should install without modification in about 2 hours. Now let’s hear how the Pypes violator series catback sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

I already have a off road x-pipe would this beable to conect to it?

TwWRIGHT

  • Sure! You can just bolt it right up to your new x-pipe in place of your stock exhaust!

Is it compatible with a 01 v6

Francisco

  • In order to use this Violator Catback (or any other GT catback) on your V6, you would have to install either the Pypes Catted or Off-road X-pipe designed for the V6 or use the V6 Dual Exhaust Adapter Kit. I've attached all (3) options below so you can take a look and decide which would be best for your application. One of these mid-pipes would then allow this or any other GT catback to bolt up without issue! Hope this helps!

Question Resolved

What headers should I use with this exhaust? What headers ?

Mariostang

  • This is totally independent of your headers. You can install that with stock, shorty or long tube headers because the cat back connects to your mid pipe.

let the neighborhood know your coming

I recently installed the Pypes violator dual exhaust kit with the off-road x-pipe on my 03 v6 Mustang. This exhaust adds enough horsepower to throw you back in your seat and is throaty enough to wake the neighbors. If your considering an aftermarket exhaust, this is the one and is offered at the best price here at American Muscle. Thanks American Muscle for providing such a great product and speedy service.

    Nice Sound

Installed on my 98 GT with BBK shorty headers and BBK off road H. Sounds good, def on the loud side. The hangers on the tips ARE NOT correct for the 98. We had to make our own hangers. Other than that, happy with the exhaust so far. Been on for 7 days now.

    pypes violator

had a flowmaster before was on for 10 years plus really nice sound could not remember the model # had a muffler go bad just enough rust wanted to replace it all so i read up on this model with a "rude sound " its ok alot less quiet throaty than before sitting at idle barely here it running to me it is not to much louder than factory exhaust does not sound bad when on the gas better than factory but over all would say it is ok not sure if i am going to replace it or not its not horrible but was not what i was expecting to hear from it if going from factory or a fairly quiet exhaust to this one would be ok

    I love pypes

I have a 2003 mustang gt with K&N intake, roush 75mm TB, mac O/R h pipe, diablosport predator tuner and the PYPES violator cat back kit w/ the 3.5" tips. the most noticable performance improvement was the cat back not to mention the sound!!!! yes it is extremely loud when you uput your foot in the floor but when you are just cuizing through town it is no louder than stock it is very nice sounding, here is a link to my video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKLY8CduNj0

    Loud at Take Off

I purchased these pipes in November and had them professionally installed. Good thing I did b/c it took over 5 hours for 2 mechanics to do the job. It doesnt sound that great at idle, but once you get on the gas the sound is strong. Dont attempt to install yourself!!!

    Nice sound

Okay well the only BAD thing I ran in to was at the end, the passenger side pipe that goes over the rear axle was incorrectly bent. So it hangs dramatically lower then the driver side. So Lowe it scraps on speed bumps, but at the end of the day it works out let me tell you why. With those pipes that go over the axle you don't get the 100% raspy sound you paid for. Soo I took the pipes off and just left the mufflers and I think it sounds perfect. Soo FYI PRE-bent parts might not always fit you're car. 7 out of 10

    Pypes Violater Cat Back Exhaust

Everything went well and the fit was perfect. My only problem was getting the pipes to get over the rear axles. I removed the shocks from the bottom and then all went in easy. The directions said to remove the rear wheels for easier installation, but I only removed the passangers side wheel, on the drivers side I didn;t, just the shocks. Unscrewing the nuts at the bottom of the shocks allowed the rear axel to drop enough to get the pipes over it.
