Daily Driver Friendly. This SPEC Stage 1 Clutch is designed for bolt-on naturally aspirated and mildly modified forced induction engines. It's best suited to 'Stangs that see daily driver duty and occasional track use, since it offers the most friendly pedal feel combined with SPEC's legendary durability.

SPEC Stage 1 Clutches feature their signature high clamp pressure plate combined with a steel-backed and multi-compound woven organic material disc and high torque sprung hub. Application. This SPEC Clutch is designed for V6 Mustangs made between 2005 and June 6th 2007. Ford made some changes in the V6 during the 2007 production year, so if you're not sure which SPEC Clutch you need, please contact us.

Technical Notes:

  • The 2005-2010 Mustang uses a concentric slave cylinder instead of a conventional throwout bearing.
  • Therefore this clutch kit will not include a throwout bearing.
  • V6's built from 2005 to December 2006 will use Spec flywheel part# SF66A or can reuse the stock factory flywheel with the SF66 Clutch.
  • V6's built from January 2007 to June 6th 2007 must use Spec flywheel part# SF66A with the SF66 Clutch.
  • V6's built from June 6th 2007 to present must use Spec flywheel part# SF66A-2 with the SF66 Clutch.

    SPEC Clutch

    If you're interested in having a lighter flywheel, I would recommend it. If you aren't and would rather keep a cast-iron flywheel, I would recommend a different company than SPEC. I like it, but I believe there are better clutch's for daily drivers/one in a while racers

    Love it!

    I love my new clutch. I think it's a definite improvement to the stock clutch I had. A lot of people said aftermarket clutches would be more difficult to push down on the clutch pedal (take a more force/muscle) but I feel like it's easier than my stock was. A great upgrade to my daily driver. Would recommend to all!

    Clutch Install

    The Clutch is great. I have had no problems with it at all. This was my first install on one of the newer S197 mustangs. The instructions were ok with one issue that really took a while to work out. The instructions called for releasing a clip that held the hydraulic clutch line to the slave cylinder. The description could use a lot more detail especially in how exactly to do that it took a long time to both get the clip out and to reinstall it. As simple as it seems that ended up being the most challenging task of the install. Overall though the clutch and pressure plate install went well. I would do it again

    Excellent Clutch!

    This clutch is great! It has much more pull than the factory clutch and it is well worth the price, considering that it was only a little more than the Ford OEM part. Great Buy!

    The flywheel which matches is great, but that's a different review. The stage I clutch lasted 3 months, after breaking it in for 500 miles with soft around town driving, it felt fine. But as time went on, it slipped more and more. It wasn't glazed when I pulled it out. It has no improvement over stock. If any at all.

      I am sorry to hear that you didn't have great luck with the Stage 1 clutch. This clutch is meant generally as a daily driven clutch on a non-modded or slightly modified Mustang. If your car has more power than this Stage 1 could handle, then it could cause the slippage problem and the reason why you have now found the Stage 2 to be better suited for your application. The Stage 1 was just too weak for your power range unfortunately. I am glad to hear though that you are happy with the Stage 2 you upgraded to.

    First impression: Stall the engine:/

    Just got my car back from the shop today and I must say wow! There is a huge difference in the shifting of gears, especially when starting in first. When I first started the car and started to release the clutch, it jerked really hard and stalled on me. lol. you let off about an inch and the clutch is fully released. I have to get used to it but I definitely love the difference. I would recommend this clutch to anyone. It has a great grip and the only down side I see to it is that it cost twice as much as it would if were a V8 clutch. Other than that, Wow! Thanks AM.

    I had a Friend who is a mechanic install the clutch for me, he was really happy with the fit. The pedal is much lighter to throw down than the stock clutch which has made it a lot nicer of a daily driver. The actual disengage part of the pedal throw is only an inch or two which is great when you pounding through the gears. And the grab is far beyond what the stock clutch offers. I have a V6 and having no problem getting rubber all thru second. Excellent part, its only $100 more than a stock clutch at shop cost, so unless you have a connection it'll probably be cheaper than the stock part after markup. Definately recommend this part.

    Just got her back today

    Just like someone else said I need to get use to this clutch when taking off. I picked the car up today and when I started to take off I jerked it and she stalled out.
