    Features & Details

    • SFI Certified
    • Machined to Precise Specs
    • Billet Aluminum Flywheel
    • Fits 2005 to June 6th 2007 V6 Mustangs
Premium Quality. Ensure the longest life for your new clutch by purchasing a complementary SPEC billet aluminum flywheel. When buying a flywheel for your V6, you want a flywheel made to the highest standards for performance and safety. SPEC Billet Aluminum Flywheels are machined to a .001 tolerance (other brands are only made to .01) and designed and weighted for the perfect balance and surface to complement your new clutch.

Protects Your Investment. When replacing your clutch you have two options: resurfacing your flywheel, or getting a new flywheel. Most times, getting a new flywheel is better than resurfacing, as the flywheel will dictate how well your clutch will perform, as well as how long it will last.

Rebuildable. A cheaper flywheel won't stay that way - SPEC's aluminum flywheels have a replaceable steel friction plate which makes this flywheel rebuildable. And this flywheel surface is also made from a special type of steel specifically designed to help your new clutch "bed in" properly and to promote superior grip - so this might just be the last flywheel you ever have to buy.

SFI Certified. If you're using this flywheel in high performance or racing applications, SFI Certification is critical so you can run your Pony at the track or strip. And it's great for peace of mind even in a daily driver - at higher RPMs, stock cast flywheels have been known to explode.

Application. This Spec Billet Aluminum Flywheel is specifically designed to be used on 2005 to June 6th 2007 built V6 Mustangs equipped with a Spec SF66 Series Clutch Kit.

    Technical Note. This Flywheel is

not compatible on Mustangs built after June 6th 2007 equipped with a Spec SF66 Clutch. They will require the use of the Spec Flywheel part# SF66A-2.

What is the torque specification of the friction plate bolts? Not a new customer.

    • The Torque rating should be 26Ft Lbs. This specification should also be included in the instruction manual to double check.

general/weight What is the weight of this compaired to stock. Im going to be running a 4.0 v6 basically with just bolt ons nothing too crazy. Is this really needed?

    • Considerably less. Your engine will rev up faster than stock as stated in the description. I've had mine for a couple years. I'd recommend at least stage 2 in SPEC clutches. Stage 1 is worthless.

      Outstanding Product

I've purchased two of these over the past few years. I had the first installed along with a SPEC Stage 3 clutch in my 2005 X-Charged V6 with the stock T5 transmission. Worked great for several years. The car would rev much quicker, with only a minimal increase in transmission noise (only idling in neutral). I took it out when I swapped a GT500 TR6060 6 speed into the car, and the transmission adapter manufacturer strongly advised not using an aluminum flywheel, due to the TR6060 bring notorious for gear rollover noise in neutral. Unfortunately when I put the car back to a stock flywheel, I also got a defective clutch assembly (not from SPEC). I had to do a clutch job less than a year later, and really missed the feel of the lighter flywheel, so I bit the bullet and purchased another one along with a fresh SPEC clutch. That setup has been in the car for two years now. Works great and honestly the difference in rollover noise between the TR6060 mated to the stock steel flywheel, and the SPEC aluminum was so minimal as to not even be worth worrying about. Install is typical for a clutch/flywheel assembly. I was able to do it on four jacktands in the driveway over a weekend, but I have some experience and proper tools. Many buyers would be better off considering this a shop install (as any clutch setup might be). Overall, a nice performance boost, and the fully replacable friction surface is a nice feature when clutch replacement is eventually needed.

      Love it!!

I love this product, had it installed with a new spec stage 2 clutch at the same time. And now it’s like night and day for the car. Feels like a different kind of beast now for my mustang. Quicker acceleration and more bite from the clutch. Thanks American muscle!

      Valued Addition

I installed this with the Spec Stage 1 clutch kit after 142K on the original clutch. First thing you will notice right out of the box is the sheer weight difference- nearly 20 lbs. in my opinion. The flywheel ships with the pilot bearing seated already in the assembly and is ready for install. While I cannot speak to the true performance gained by this part along I would say if you have some extra room in your budget you'll be pleased with the overall improvement to drivability when installed as part of a clutch overhaul.

      Great With A Clutch

I installed this flywheel with the Spec Stage 3 clutch and man is it a night and day difference. You rev up much faster and accelerations are a lot smoother. Just make sure you get a nice clutch with this flywheel to make it worth your while. Defiantly a great product!

The feel when i shift gears is amazing.

I feel like I have more off the line power then I did before. I also bought the Spec 2 Clutch and I love the combination. I do not know if my horsepower improved but my access to it has.

      spec rainy flywheel

the spec flywheel is much lighter than giving you maximum gains in power and performance. I was amazed by how light it was compared to the stock flywheel. I used a spec stage 2 clutch to match up with this flywheel in my 4.0 v6 mustang and wow it felt great. It really woke up the engine. The instalation was fairly easy but nothing like having the right tools for the job. My v6 would take off so quick and still even in 4th gear I can still make a pass. I would highly recommend this clutch and flywheel setup to anyone looking to make their v6 into a true monster machine.

      Great Choice

The flywheel is light and allows the engine to rev a little faster. It is a high quality flywheel and I am very pleased with it.

      Much lighter

Easy install as long as you have experience when removing a transmission. Bolted right on with a stage two spec clutch and pressure plate. Had it in only a couple of days but you can feel the grab and power to the rear wheels.

Good Improvement while clutch is out

I opted to replace the flywheel while installing Spec stage 2 clutch and both products together are working great. I always say if your going to replace after all that labor why not improve and the aluminum flywheel is so much lighter than the cast iron one that came with my car.

      Amazing Product

Wow, spec stage 1 clutch with the flywheel gave my pony sooo much punch at the line...It even made the clutch pedal not as hard to push down, which made me re-learn how to drive manual. I recommend this product if you want the jump off the line

      SPEC flywheel update

coupled with a Stage I first-stage I didn't last. coupled with stage II-excellent outcome. LIke previously posted, the car rev's quicker. And it does make a slight grumble when sitting in neutral. Replaced the friction plate from the stage I for the stage II. Which is really handy instead of resurfacing a cast-iron flywheel. SPEC has a website which the friction plate can be purchased from.

      SPEC Flywheel (05-07 V6)

Make sure it is the right flywheel, its very important to check, then double check, then triple check. My car somehow ended up with an oddball driveline and SPEC had to specially make a flywheel for my car. Revs up from lower rpms quicker than before. Just remember that with a lighter flywheel the momentum is reduced and you have to make sure to keep the rpms up at first so you don't kill the car.

Good part, good supplier, chevy bearing a bit sacreligious to some

First, the flywheel itself:awesome. My stang revs up WAYY faster now and my fuel economy has gone up as my cruising rpms went down. This is not a maybe part. This is mandatory. Then, the service: It didn't ship with the pilot bearing, but AM was very competent and told me that although Spec would probably be a better company to call, that if Spec didn't get me what I needed they'd be glad to intervene. Spec gave me the part number (the pilot bearing off a 1997 Corvette w/LS1, kind of bizarre installing that in my ford but whatever) and I was able to fit everything together great. I emailed AM about possible reimbursement for the bearing and they delivered. Ryan went above and beyond and called Spec and provided for me financially. Awesome awesome people. Now my only supplier for my stang.

      Excellent Quality, Very Satisfied

Purchased SPEC's aluminum flywheel for the 4.0L Mustang a couple months back, but only just got around to doing a teardown and install. This is a beautifully manufactured part and just reeks of quality straight out of the box. Install was the same as any flywheel, and all factory hub bolts, and pilot bearing and sleeve fit perfectly. In use, motor spins up noticably faster due to the lighter weight, and the replacable insert is a nice feature for future clutch changes. The only (very) minor downside is a bit of transmission "grumble" when sitting in neutral with the clutch out (this is normal with lightweight flywheels)
