      Description

      Ideal Upgrade. If you're adding forced induction to your S197 Mustang V6, a SPEC Stage 2 Clutch is the ideal upgrade that will deliver the holding power you need without sacrificing too much driveability. A SPEC Stage 2 Clutch will handle up to 470 ft-lbs of torque without the "on-off" feel of true race clutches, making this it a perfect choice for moderately modified street and strip 'Stangs.

      Perfect for Weekend Warriors. The SPEC Stage 2 Clutches are designed for all mild to moderately modified naturally aspirated and power added engines, but can be used with stock power levels without sacrificing driveability or excessive wear characteristics. They are the perfect balance of driveability and durability that makes them a great choice for Mustangs that see a lot of time on the street as well as the strip and track.

      Premium Quality.
      The SPEC Stage 2 Clutch combines superior holding power with the driveability you want by using premium materials. Each Stage 2 Clutch includes a high clamp pressure plate, pure Kevlar friction material and high torque sprung hub and disc assembly. Like with all SPEC Clutches, an alignment tool is included for easy installation.

      Application. This SPEC Clutch is designed for V6 Mustangs made between 2005 and June 6th 2007 with the T-5 transmission. Ford made some changes in the V6 during the 2007 production year, so if you're not sure which SPEC Clutch you need, please contact us.

      Technical Notes:

      • The 2005-2010 Mustang uses a concentric slave cylinder instead of a conventional throwout bearing.
      • Therefore this clutch kit will not include a throwout bearing.
      • V6's built from 2005 to December 2006 will use Spec flywheel part# SF66A or can reuse the factory flywheel with the SF66 Clutch.
      • V6's built from January 2007 to June 6th 2007 must use Spec flywheel part# SF66A with the SF66 Clutch.
      • V6's built from June 6th 2007 to present must use Spec flywheel part# SF66A-2 with the SF66 Clutch.

        Great clutch

        I'm sure it's a great clutch based on other reviews, but mechanic says I need the spec flywheel because mine doesn't fit. Unfortunately, I will have to return due to budget issues. Quality looks amazing on both clutch and plate that comes with it. Wish i would have tested it.

        5 2006 V6 - ChrisT Installation Time: Full Day

        After a few years and thousands of miles...

        As the title says, I've had this clutch in my car for a few years and about 30k miles and so far so good!!! I still love it, it grabs and it goes no bones about it. As some others have stated you will NEED a SPEC flywheel for this clutch, and those worried about the "transmission noise" after putting in the lightweight flywheel, not to worry its just a little bit of clutch chatter due to the lighter weight of the flywheel in low RPM's. Installation cost was free because I did it myself, while you're in there you might as well change your throwout bearing. I bought mine here on AM, but I would recommend using OE because the aftermarket ones make a rattling noise too unless you use OEM FoMoCo parts. I'm guessing something to do with tolerances maybe, not sure. Anyways I digress, If you're looking for a new clutch and you have a few bolt on mods, look no further than a SPEC clutch.

        Great clutch

        This clutch mad a big difference in acceleration. Smoother shifts and faster take offs. I can outrun ricer boy cars easily now. If you do buy this clutch, I’d recommend fully that you by the spec aluminum flywheel with this package; they both work excellent together.

        1 2007 V6 - Benjamin

        Unbelievably unsatisfied

        Bought this clutch about 8 months ago, replaced OE flywheel, replaced hydrolic throwout bearing. I have basic mods and only bought the stage 2 because i was sure it would last longer and work better. Clutch worked great for about 6 months then started slipping again! None of these parts have seen 10k miles. Same mechanic who did the install has driven and looked at it and said the clutch is definitely the problem. Called Spec today, they said all they can do is have me take pictures of the clutch (out of the car!) and recommend my next step, because there **120 day warranty** had ran it's course. So now they want me to drop another 500 plus install?? Unreal. Rude customer service as well. Don't buy anything from this company

        1 2008 V6 - weaver2112 Installation Time: Full Day

        Failed after 15000 Miles.

        The clutch and accompanying spec flywheel were installed without incident. It ran fine (although there was no real improvement in performance over the factory clutch). It then completely failed after 15000 miles of operation. My car is just a v6 so I don't hot dog the clutch and never chirp the tires. I would I would recommend that no one purchase this product.

        installed this clutch with aluminum flywheel.. every thing went smoothly..engine does revs up faster clutch grabs on the floor.. but gets it done

        Spec stage 2 clutch

        I have a black 07 v6 4.0L standard mustang that I put a spec stage 2 clutch sf622 and spec aluminum fly wheel sf66a. This clutch is great but make sure to read the fine print on fitment. You have to have a spec flywheel for this clutch to work. I put it in with the stock fly wheel and 1000 miles later had to replace it and I talked to spec and they told me I needed one of there fly wheels so put both of them back in and now it grips great! But at an idle in neutral it has a slight grumble coming from the trans. The clutch and fly wheel along with a cold air intake and I can keep up with the 2012 v6. I am building up to put a supercharger on in and get some real power.

        great for bolt-ons

        great grip. Has lasted quite well and still grabs on tight. Would recommend if you want to buy from AM. Highly recommend over stage I. With any new clutch, when first driving after installation, it is VERY touchy. Looks like a quality clutch from the box and is still proving itself.

      Clutch fork and throw out bearing Ive been reading on clutches since my 07 is at about 73,000 miles and the clutch is throwing a light and slipping. what about a clutch fork or did the 07 not have one to start? Also how can you tell if the old throw out bearing is bad and needs replaced?

      • The 2005+ Mustangs don't have a clutch fork so nothing to worry about there. Also, the 05+ Mustangs have a Hydraulic Throwout Bearing/Slave Cylinder, which can withstand a fairly heavy clutch as a stock unit. That being said though, we've found that Stage 2 and up or Dual Disc Clutches tend to have theirs go out often. If you wanted to install this Spec Stage 2 on your 2007, it would be a great idea to install a new Throwout Bearing/Slave Cylinder at the same time. Hope this helps to answer your questions!

      how do i order thowout bearing Why is there no thowout bearing listed for this kit, and how do I know what I need to get. I have look at many other sites and I am not sure wich is the right one. The Spec stage2 clutch will work in my 05 V6 Mustang, how about the flywheel, can I use the same one or should I change it out. Provided there is no wear or damage to it.

      • For the 2005+ Mustangs, they have a hydraulic throwout bearing. There isn't one listed in this kit because it's not included. Unless there is something wrong with your stock throwout bearing, there would be no need to upgrade that as well. With this Spec Stage 2 Clutch, you would want to get the matching flywheel for proper installation (see the link below). The Spec clutch has different disc tolerances than the stock clutch and the Spec flywheel will ensure proper engagement. If you have any other questions or concerns, please give us a call!
