Compact Design. The SF4/X4 Power Flash Tuner measures in at 2.7” wide X 5.5” tall making it much smaller than the original SF3/X3 for easy storage in your center console or glove box. The cord is detachable and there is no battery or power supply needed. It uses the power from your vehicle's diagnostic port or computers USB connection.

Full Color Display. The SF4/X4 Power Flash Tuner features a full color 2-3/4" diagonal LCD screen with user adjustable portrait or landscape modes. The SF4/X4 also has a convenient power saving auto dim feature.

Custom Bama Tunes specific to your vehicle. When you order a tuner, you aren't just getting a tuner - you are getting the tuner and 3 dyno-tested custom Bama tunes:

  • Street (87-93 octane) - The street tune is designed as a daily driver program that focuses on increasing mid-range power. Automatic vehicles are further enhanced by making adjustments to the transmission's shift points and firmness.

  • Performance (87-93 octane) - The Performance program is designed to add power at 3000 RPMs and higher, focusing more on the top end horsepower and all out performance driving. Timing, fuel and throttle response settings are slightly more aggressive than the street tune. This is a great track tune but also works well for daily drivers that are looking for a little more "get up and go" than the street tune. The automatic transmission settings are the same as in the street tune.

  • Race (91 - 93 octane) - The race tune will ensure the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory. This file is designed for "Race Use Only", as the timing, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. It is so aggressive that we do not recommend it for daily driving as it may cause your vehicle to try to jump out from a stop and easily spin the tires. On automatics, we implement entirely new shift points and firmness settings to further enhance the all-out performance of the vehicle.

Nitrous (91-unleaded race gas) - Our nitrous option can be added to any of our previously mentioned tune options, but only for 91-octane unleaded fuel.

Will this tuner be able to account for egr deletion and vacuum lines being plugged off for running long tube header setup ie pacesetter with all the ports plugged off for a 1996 four valve cobra?

  • Bama will be able to tune for the EGR delete and vacuum lines being plugged off when running long tube headers.


Will the Mustang retain the tune of the flash tuner is removed? Specifically asking due to the fact that when the vehicle needs to go in for emissions, they will have to remove the tuner to plug into the OBD2 port. We preformed a IMRC delete on a 96 Cobra, and are looking to tune it to the best performance range possible, while not looking to affect emissions testing. Thank you for your time.

Does this tuner help calibrate the speedometer on the 1998 Cobra after adding different that stock rear gears and larger wheels/tiers?

  • The Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 3 Custom Tunes requires a questionnaire to be filled out prior to programming the custom tunes, where rear gear ratio and tire size is requested, so it can be re-calibrated. The tuner itself has the function, however, it is disabled by the custom tunes.


If i orders this for a 96 cobra can you supply a tune to make my dohc cobra sound like it is camming like the newer 5.0 mustangs?

  • Unfortunately we will not be able to tune to make the DOHC Cobra sound like it is camming like the newer 5.0L Mustangs. Those tunes are only available for engines that have TIVCT (Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing) which the 1996 Cobras do not have.


Are these tuners capable of changing the on/off temp settings of the electric fans to work in conjuction with a lower temperature thermostat?

    The purpose purchasing my BAMA Tuner was to delete my IMRCs because of the gunking up. BAMA sent me a tune with my IMRCs deleted and the car runs great as if it came from Ford this way. Cannot comment on their tunes because that was not my interest. The Staff there are awesome people and i had a great time talking and learning from - yes commend!!!

    Bama X4 Flash Tuner

    I ordered the Bama X4/SF4 to get a custom tune applied to my 97 Cobra after adding a set of BBK Long Tubes and BBK X Pipe...Wow, what a difference!! For basically a stock set up, the Bama custom tune brought it to life. It was very easy to use and customer service and follow up were excellent with all questions answered. A great investment for your Stang! USMCJoe

    Really worth it!

    I couldn't make up my mind if I should get it or not but I finally ordered it to tune it with my x pipe and cel light being on for not cats and BAMA uploaded the custom tunes themselves into the tuner at their warehouse I received the tuner and tuned my cobra and you can really feel the difference in Race tune! Definitely recommend !!

    Definitely worth the premium over the x3. Great screen, tunes installed much faster, wifi updates, and a much smaller unit. I recommend this over any other tuner on the market.

    Must have if planning to upgrade with performance parts!

    I've been putting my cobra up do date since I bought it. As usual, many replacements have been done with performance parts. If you changed MAF, air intake, fuel pump and other related parts, then you should get this. Anyway, is the most friendly tuner in the market and the ones many dyno centers use. The product itself is just perfect. From the tunes, I felt improvement in acceleration. If you are thinking between the CHIP or Tuner my advice is to GET THE Tuner. Transferring tunes to car ECU is simple and only takes a few minutes. Also, if your mustang is not heavily modified you can get email tunes. In addition, with this you have the peace of mind that any local tuner can use this to make a custom tune on a dyno (if desired). On the other hand,with the chip not all local tuners have chip burners. Also, with the tuner there is less chance of a defective unit like with the chip. I just mention since I was undecided on what to get at first (just my opinion). For now I've been using the BAMA Tunes. I'm still gathering the parts for my cobra. Once I got them all (1 year or more) I will then go for a dyno tune. But for now I'm ok with the BAMA tunes. Since I changed the fuel pump my car was very rich at idle you could see it in the exhaust. The tunes solved this so I could drive my car around with no problems on the meanwhile until I finish my project. Besides from this product review I just want to advice everyone to verify your stang ECU and check if its re-manufactured. My Cobra had a remanufactured one. I always felt my car didn't run as I expected. Turned out the ECU was from a 1996 GT. That is why I had automatic transmission check engine codes when I scanned it for the first time a few months ago (since I never got a light within the 2 years I owned this cobra). I was able to clear this out since the tuner marries to the ecu once is connected and it tells you the VIN # of the original car that had that ecu. I then ran the VIN on the web and it came up to the previously mentioned(it differed from the VIN # in my cobra which I also ran and came up as a cobra). In a brief, the IMRC where not opening since that was not on the programming. Long time ago I did the test of looking at the runners and revving the engine and never saw the runners move. I though the system was faulty this whole time. With the BAMA Custom Tune (made with from the cobra base tune) now the IMRC are opening and I don't get the old check engine codes. I cannot completely tell on the"performance gain" of the tune since I had that problem and IMRC opening now is a huge difference. But why I can say is that this is a must have and the free tunes for life are a Great plus which help me resolved a big issue. A.M. Customer service is excellent.

    Finally know what this 98 cobra can do. Installed headers, off road x-pipe, cold air intake, under drive pulley set, and high out put alternator. What a difference the tuner made. Woke the cobra up.

    Can't get the smile off my face

    Got the tuner today and WOW! This thing really did wake my sleepy cobra up. I only have exhaust mods and I couldn't believe the difference it made, faster throttle response, smoothed out me rough idle and no more check engine light. Race tune is what I started out with and she really pulls hard...smoking tires hard, I couldn't stop smiling. Great job guys, this tuner made my cobra fun to drive again!

    Bama X4/SF4 IS Worth The Money

    Very quick and easy to use. I needed it to remove my CEL for MMR IMRC Deletes and ended up with much more than I bargained for. Extremely simple to use. I do not notice a gain in MPG but I do not care to take it off race mode. First time the car has put me in the seat since buying it. Pricey but 100% worth it.

    Tuner is a must!!!!

    I did so many upgrades before buying a tuner (cold air, MAF, throttle body, O/R X-pipe and flow masters) none of it really did to much until I got a tuner and WOW!!!! What a crazy increase now that I have the motor tuned to work with all the upgrades.....Its a must have for any muscle car.

    Easy to Use and store!

    Absolutely great tuner, Much smaller then the bulky older tuners, fits in your glove box or console with no issues. The buttons are easy to push and to navigate through the applications. Best bang for you buck! Highly recommended!

    I just received my new SCT tuner for my 1996 Cobra. The new 4 the Gen tuner is amazing! I had the Bama team from American Muscle write me a new tune to go with my Kooks long tube headers and K&N air filter. All I can say is that it pulls so much harder now! I purchased the car with all these other parts on it but did not have a tune on it. America Muscle again came through!!

    1997 Mustang Cobra

    1st time using a tuner and I can say it is real easy to do, mainly bought it to turn my rear o2 sensors off due to high flow cats and X pipe and it did the job right. Have not gotten around to trying the race tune, but the performance tune made my stang idle much smother and the throttle response is amazing.

    Didnt see as good of results

    I'm not sure if it is because I used this on a cobra or not. It didn't give me as good as results as I expected after reading other reviews. The only thing I immediately noticed was that it revs smoother. I can't really feel any performance gains. I wish it would have been better.
