The Whistle So, I've heard mixed reviews about the 'whistle' sound this spacer makes. Honestly, is it annoying like your belt is squeeking or is it a turbo type that sounds cool?

LyonNinja

  • Personally, I love the whistle this part creates. In my opinion, it sounds more like a turbo whistle than anything else. When you're cruising, the sound kind of fades into the background, but you really hear it when you punch the throttle, especially between 2000-3500 RPM (in my case).

Will this work in conjuction w/ the BBK 70mm throttle body?

Jay23

  • No, this spacer is meant to be installed with the stock throttle body only. Using this with an aftermarket throttle body can actually hinder performance because while upgrading the TB bore size, the bore size on this spacer will match the stock mm.

Only took about 15 minutes to install and I could not be more happy with the results! Not only does it make my 2010 v6 mustang run like a dream and add faster throttle response and speed. It also makes it sound beastly and adds an incredible whistling noise whenever you hit the gas peddle. I definitely recommend this product if your looking for a little more kick in your pony.

    Quick & Easy

As my title says, it was a quick and easy install. It too me all of between 15-20mins to install it properly. One thing I don't remember the instructions mentioning was that, yes, the original bolts are 5/16 heads, but the NEW ones are 10mm. Other than tat, it was easy, well marked and yes, you get the whistle, but its minor price to pay for the easy boost. The paperwork says up to 25 ft/lbs of torque and 4mpg gain. I can already see the gain in the estimated mileage and the throttle response is much smoother. I'd say its definitely worth it.

    Nice Little Upgrade

This is a very easy install. Took about 15 minutes. The gasket was a little big. Stuck out on both sides of the spacer. Not a problem, but looked bad. Trimmed it down. Bolts were the right length. Have no idea about hp, torque or mpg increase without a dyno, but throttle response is improved. I did get the whistle for about 30 seconds after start up, but it went away. Which made me happy, because there was no way that noise sounded like a turbo. My feminine side really likes the red anodizing - matches my Redfire paint. Did I just say that?

Impressive Gain in Hp and Torque

After installing the Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer I was impressed on how much power my car gained, the improvement was noticeable right away when I stepped on the throttle. Before I had the body spacers my car's stock exhaust wouldn't make a popping sound, but when installed it, it made a popping noise and sounded aggressive!!! I can't imagine how it's gonna sound with the Roush CatBack Exhaust I ordered and Pypes X-Pipe!!! I DO RECOMMEND THIS ITEM!!:)

    extremely disappointed

well lets start off with the bolts that came with this spacer. THEY SUCK! when it was all finished i was so excited after hearing all these great reviews but when I started my car, it sounded like my mustang was dying. extremely annoying sound. I knew it was gonna whistle but I didnt realize how bad it would be and loud. I have a BBK throttle body, Araid CAI all with a Bama tune and after I put this product on, my car seemed like it was being held back. my car runs great and is extremely fast with out this spacer. Im so sad that i have to write this bad review after all the other great products from AM and Araid.

Unfortunately, this throttle body spacer is intended for use with a stock throttle body only. Reason being is that if you upgrade your TB, as you did to the BBK TB, the MM bore on your aftermarket TB is now larger than that of the stock TB. Similarly, this spacer has the stock bore size and you essentially block some of the airflow by installing this spacer with an aftermarket TB. Give us a call and we can help you with a return if you wish!

    Airaid Poweraid TBS

I had this installed today, along with an Airaid CAI. As many other reviews have mentioned, this part does whistle. Personally, I love the sound. You get a soft, low-pitch whistle while cruising, but you really hear it when you put the hammer down. I even noticed myself having to let off the gas due to the increased pull. Haven't tested the MPG difference yet, but I'll post when I have some solid numbers. As of now, I recommend this product.

This throttle body spacer should not be causing a check engine light to come on. I'd suggest you have the codes checked to see what is actually causing the problem. If you need any assistance, don't hesitate to give us a call!

    Does its job

It compliments the sound from the cold air intake I have. You can hear the air flow much better with the whistle sound. As for power don't expect much if any. It does help with better throttle response. Fuel efficiency is the same maybe a bit better but nothing to brag about. You get what you pay for. If u want serious power buy a tuner. If u want to reduce the throttle lag the V6 has this will help and give a nice sound.

    Easy Add-On

The reviews that I have read about this product were mixed. I can say that I have read about throttle body spacers, and how they can give you more torque. The installation was very easy to do, and is very straight forward even if you don't have any instructions. People have said that the install bolts are bad, but I have to disagree. They fit perfectly, and without any problems. Air Raid recommends disconnecting the negative terminal on your battery, and you should do this so that your computer can recalibrate. I have noticed, that I have gotten about 3 more mpg, better throttle response, and there is a slight whistle when you step on the gas when taking off. Having a manual transmission in my car I think that the whistle is toned down a little, but when timed right you will definitely get looks when taking off from a standing start at a light. For some easy torque gains and some better gas mileage, I would have to say that this is a great starting add-on for anyone, and teamed with a CAI and a tune you will definitely see the gains using the stock throttle, all for about the same price of just an aftermarket throttle body.

    cheap and easy

I received this T.B.S. for my birthday and installed it the next day. I instantly felt more low end torque, I also have a BBK CAI, Taylor street thunder spark pug wires, along with various other modifications. Contrary to other reviews I did not have an over barring whistle. It is noticeable but not annoying. I love this spacer.

avoid this unless you want the sound.

I bought one of these in the early stages of modding my v6. It made lots of noise. I sold mine for $5. I had 3 different tuning shops it was actually nothing more than a paper weight. It offered no improved performance and may actually hurt performance. I never felt a change with it to without it until I added a cai. With a cai and this I did feel more seat of the pants torque without it.

    Extremely happy!

I purchased the Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer and installed it during the weekend. It took no more than 30-40 mins to install the part. To make everything work together, I also installed a new BBK cold air intake along with a SCT SF3 Power Flash custom 91 octane performance tune. With the combination of all of these...wow! I have definitely noticed an increase in horsepower and torque. My car takes off like a bullet. I highly recommend the Airaid Throttle Spacer.

    The MPG is unreal!

Spacer is installed. I went from 23.9 mpg to 29.7 driving the exact same road I drove last night before the spacer. Considering the V6 mustang is rated 17 city/ 23 highway I'll call this a win. The low end torque is up as well. I barely have to tap the gas in 5th gear to accelerate. The whistle? It's more like a chirp and I only hear that in my garage with the hood up and windows down. Mission accomplished!
