    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Mike Wilson here with AmericanMuscle.com, standing here with the BBK cold air intake kit for the 2005-2009 Mustang V6. We’re going to combine this with a Bama race tune to see how much horse power and torque we get. But before we do that, we’re going to make a dyno run stock so we get some baseline horse power and torque numbers. Stock, our 2005 V6 automatic put down 172 horse power and 196 ft/lbs of torque. The BBK cold air intake kit is a great first modification that combines both power and style. By removing the factory restrictive airbox, and replacing with an open element reusable air filter, and a straight intake tube, you’ll notice increased horse power, torque, acceleration, and a throaty engine sound. And its bright, chrome finish, will definitely enhance the under-hood appearance of your Mustang. Now we’re going to install this cold air intake, which should take less than an hour, and can be done with simple hand tools you have at home. Along with the cold air intake, we also installed one of our 93 octane Bama race tunes. A custom tune from Bama performance adjusts engine parameters to maximize your performance through optimized air/fuel ratio, spark advance, enhanced throttle response, and for automatics, increased shift firmness and adjustable shift points. Now lets do another dyno run, see what kind of horse power and torque numbers we can get. We installed the BBK cold air intake kit along with a Bama performance tune and our car put down 192 horse power and 218 ft/lbs of torque, gaining as much as 23 horse power and 32 ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve. We installed the BBK cold air intake kit and a Bama performance tune all in under an hours time using simple hand tools, and gained as much as 23 horse power and 32 ft/lbs of torque.

Improves Horsepower. This BBK Cold Air Intake kit completely replaces the factory air box and restrictive paper filter element in your V6 Pony with a high flow filter assembly for a noticeable increase in horsepower and throttle response, while filtering out destructive power-robbing dust particles.

No Tune Required. Unlike other Cold Air Intakes on the market for the 2005-2010 V6 mustangs the BBK CAI does not require a computer re-tune. The engineers at BBK really did their homework to improve your pony's power using the factory tune.

Reusable Filter. BBK designed their high flow cotton air filter to be reusable, so there's no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Black Wrinkle Coat Finish. The BBK CAI not only improves your pony's horsepower and acceleration, but improves your Mustang's under hood appearance with an aggressive baked on black wrinkle powder coat finish.

Easy Install. The BBK Cold Air Intake kit was designed to install easily with basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for the installation. All parts and instructions are included.

CARB Certified. Best of all this BBK Mustang Cold Air Intake Kit is 50-state smog legal under Carb EO# D-245-14 (applies to 2005-2008 V6 only).

Application. This BBK Cold Air Intake System is specifically designed to fit the 2005 to 2010 V6 Mustang with the 4.0L engine and does not require re-tuning the vehicles computer for operation.

Super easy to install. Felt the performance gain. Does need a tune though, otherwise it will throw a check engine light.

      BBK cold air intake

Everything came off and went on in under an hour with the right tools. Sounds great and can really feel a difference in power and throttle response. Only flaw out of this was my check engine light came on and most auto shops said I needed to replace the air flow sensor and the light will go away.

      It's awesome

Although there is a lot of controversy over CAI's, I chose to install this. Although the performance boost was not immediately apparent, one thing that I love is the sound it makes when accelerating.

Intake provides a loud whoosh when you get in it, and provides more air flow. Fit is ok, but finish is pretty nice.

      BBK Blackout CAI

Just did the install and it was easy even with my CDC Shaker Hood Scoop to deal with. It seems well built and looks awesome! Cant really say if it added any horsepower but I didn't do a tune on it. No problems with throwing a code after install. Just make sure your connections are tight.

Looks Feels Good but Throws Check Engine Code

Pros: This looks great underneath my 07 V6 hood. The quality is good and the black finish is very nice. Install was pretty easy minus a few hiccups. You can feel the push when you press on the gas pedal. I love the black/blue color combo. This is my first performance upgrade to my stock v6 so far. Cons: This caused my check engine light to turn on. It runs great but now I have to get that light to turn off on the dash. I'll either have to re-install stock air filter or dish out $400 for a tune :( Fitting the filter through the shield hole was a pain. It seems the shield hole was slightly smaller than the filter was allowed. I had to maneuver a bit to get a solid fit and bolt on. The screws for the MAF sensor strip very easy. Overall good product but could use some improvement in the design.

      BBK Cold air intake

Product is packed very well and it’s own personal packaging. The install was straightforward and very easy only took me about 45 minutes to put my cold air intake on. As I drive you could here the intake suck in air and make my Mustang sound so cool and adds and I really aggressive look under the hood.

      Great First Mod

Very comprehensive and straightforward mod, especially for a first timer like me. The head shield and the PCV tube locking clip did not fit well for me. I did notice the quicker throttle response though! I didn't notice too much of a change in engine sound, except for the air actually being sucked into the intake. Maybe a tune would give it its full potential.

      Great but...

The CAI sounds great and it looks even more fantastic, although I did have some problems installing it the hole for the casing around the filter is a little small. I had to wrestle that thing in there just make sure you have a mate with you to help. Also, the screws that came with the kit for the MAF stripped and that was a hole mother headache would recommend getting some different screws.

      Great!!!

This BBK Cold Air Intake was an easy install, just needed to do a very small minor coating removal on the PCV inlet. Overall, this product looks great and it performs great and sounds great. If you pair it with a throttle body spacer, it sounds much better.
