Description
More Horsepower and Torque. Improve the performance of your 5.0L Coyote Engine with a set of BBK Long Tube Headers. These BBK chrome plated headers will greatly improve your mustangs exhaust flow over the restrictive factory manifolds and increase your Pony's horsepower and torque. Significant increases in rear wheel horsepower have been seen when installed with a matching BBK Shorty X pipe or Midpipe Adapter.

Quality Construction. BBK Long Tube Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1-3/4" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow. And feature one piece laser cut 3/8" header flanges for added strength, leak-free performance and OEM fit. These headers are then completed in a bright chrome finish for good looks and a long life.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Additional Required S550 Upgrades. Installation of these BBK Long Tube Headers on a 2015-2016 S550 Mustang will require the use of a set of BBK Long Tube Header Adapter Mid-Pipes part# 1816 or 18160 and an O2 Extension Harnesses and Hardware Kit part# 16332. Please see options listed above.

Application. These BBK 1-3/4" Chrome Long Tube Headers are specifically designed to fit the 2011-2016 GT Mustangs equipped with the Coyote 4 valve 5.0L V8 engine.

Application Note. BBK Long Tube Headers require the use of a BBK Shorty Midpipe, part# 1655 or 1658, for 2011-2014 GT or the BBK Long Tube Header Adapter Mid-Pipes part# 1816 or 18160, for the 2015-2016 GT for proper installation. These Headers are intended for left hand drive applications only.

Technical notes. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only.

Great product pain in the butt install

Sounds amazing with the bbk off road xpipe! It took two full days to install with a lift. I recommend having a shop do it or have a full weekend to dedicate to it!

Hey, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm going to be taking a closer look at BBK's long tube headers, available in either ceramic or chrome for all 2011 and newer Mustang GTs. Simply put, long tube headers are designed to completely replace your restrictive factory manifolds, which can really choke out the flow of exhaust. Long tube headers paired with an aftermarket mid-pipe and exhaust will make for a very free-flowing setup that should give you a nice bump in both power and sound. As far as price is concerned, you'll find these long tubes from BBK to be right in the middle of the road. Now as far as construction is concerned, you'll see some slight similarities with the BBK and the Pype's long tube headers. They both share Mandrel-bent long straight runners, which is going to be great for top-end power, however the BBK features a 1-and-3/4 inch Mandrel-bent tubing, whereas the Pype's offer a 1-and-5/8ths inch Mandrel bent tubing, so you are getting larger diameter tubing with the BBK and the option to go with the ceramic coating as well. That ceramic coating is going to offer a couple of different benefits, first of which is performance. Ceramic dissipates heat a lot better than a raw stainless or chrome-plated header, so it's going to have a slight edge performance-wise, and should help keep under-the-hood temps down as well. Now the chrome option will be less expensive, and it won't dissipate heat quite as well as a ceramic coating, but one thing's for sure, that chrome finish is really going to pop under the hood. In addition to the different finish options available with the BBK headers, you'll also enjoy a perfect fit, thanks to the laser-cut flanges and quality welds that will help prevent any premature failure down the road. Installing any set of long tube headers can be a little intense, so if you don't think you have the mechanical skills to get the job done, then I would leave this one up to the professionals. However, if you are going to tackle the job, just leave yourself a full day, just to be safe. Keep in mind, whenever you run a set of long tubes like these BBKs, you will need to address your mid-pipe. In this case, you'll need to run a flanged and shorty mid-pipe to get everything bolted up properly. Now BBK recommends their shorty X-pipe just for best fit and performance gains. So if you're looking for a quality set of long tubes with a number of different benefits and the option of a chrome or ceramic finish, you might want to check out these long tubes from BBK for your Coyote Mustang.

  • If you already have a custom tune and add these (with retune), you should see about 20-25rwhp.

Will my magnaflow true x xpipe work with these headers????? I have the magnaflow off road true- x x-pipe from here, and I wand to buy these headers. Only if there compatible with my x pipe. I don't want to buy another x pipe.

Jnasty

  • No, these headers need the BBK Shorty X-Pipe to work. These headers come down much farther than the stock manifolds.

I recently purchased a 2013 Boss 302 and was wondering if these headers would work? Also would I need a different tune put on the car since I have the track key activated?

dkr77

  • Yes, these headers will fit your Boss 302. BUT, you're going to have to order a BBK Shorty X-Pipe so you will get rid of your Boss's side exhaust. And if you go Offroad-X/Hi-Flo Cats (only options with longtubes) you're going to need a new tune to get rid of the CEL you will get from the 02 sensors.

    BBK long tube headers

Took about 4 hours to put in with my buddy helping. Driver side is easy to do but the passenger side is a different story. It is a toght place for big hands. Had do pull engine to driver side when lifted to get hands in. The performance gains you get are well worth the time and money spent. It also give grate sound with exhaust.

    Pain the a**

Headers and catted x-pipe sounded better than expected. I get looks all around town and my base when I step on it. Only down side to the install some of the header bolts are near impossibly to reach and the passenger side of the install was a huge pain even with a lift. In the end good product.

    Worth the Wait!

These long tube headers are worth the time and patience spent along with the pain that is endured throughout the install. These headers in particular have really wonderful sound, and some amazing power! I do recommend this product to anyone and everyone! If you'd like to hear my car, I've uploaded a video. I'm setup through these longtube headers and an off-road X pipe!

    Awesome

If your looking for a great set of headers for performance and sound too match theses are the headers for you. Two things though last two bolts on pass side second to last bolt get from the top and the last one from the bottom with 15mm stubby. And the front O2 sensor extension will not fit until you cut off the small plastic tabs on stock side in order for extension to mate with stock plug properly. Other than these two minor issues they are a great set of headers. AND LET ME JUST ADD IT WILL MAKE YOUR CAR TEN TIMES LOUDER !!!!

    HOLY S***!!!!!!

I cant believe how amazingly loud this car is now. The headers were paired with an off road X and SLP loudmouth axle backs. If you dont have these headers and are still considering it, then stop now and max out your credit card if thats what it takes to get these headers. Took it to a shop for install. Ive been smiling for 2 days now just thinking about the great power gains and incredibly loud sound it now makes.

    Mother of FUN!

If you want to really get your heart going and have a great sounding exhaust, then you need these. After a complete exhaust work over with these headers my car sounds like a race car. I get compliments everyday from people. Not only does it look and sound good, but you'll be barking tires all the way into 4th! I was completely surprised by the pep it gave the car. It will take sometime to install though and it's a bit of pain. Just note on the passenger side you might want to disconnect the AC line as it gets in the way of the install. The shop that helped me out install mine broke it and we had to fix it.

    THUNDER!

I usually don't write reviews but this will by my first. I would first like to start off by saying the the chrome finish on this is very nice. The craftsman shift on these are great. I took this to a shop to get installed and they said the fit was great and they had no problems when fitted with the BBK off road x pipe. The sound that comes from these is the sound that should be heard from american muscle.
