Hey, I'm Justin with, and I'm breaking down BBK Tuned Length Shorty Headers available in your choice of either ceramic or chrome, fitting all 2011 and up Mustang GTs. So why would you want to use a set of shorty headers, versus a set of long tubes? Well basically, a shorty setup is going to be less expensive, and much easier to install versus a set of long tubes. This is due to the fact that shortys for the most part are a direct bolt-on, meaning you won't have to modify your Mid Pipe, like you would using a set of long tubes. Now, will shortys perform just as good or better than a set of long tubes? Probably not, but it's still going to be a solid upgrade over your restrictive factory manifolds. These headers feature what BBK refers to as their tune-length runner design, which makes them a hybrid between a standard shorty header, and a set of long tubes. Now in the end, BBK claims more horsepower than a standard shorty header, all while maintaining the ability to be a direct bolt-on, no-modification-needed install. Taking a closer look at the headers, you can see they both feature 1-and-3/4" Mandrel-bent tubing, and laser cut flanges for an OEM quality fit. Now as I mentioned earlier, you do have the options of picking these headers up in your choice of either a ceramic, or chrome finish. So, what are the differences between the two finishes? Well, as you can see for one, looks. The chrome option is a little brighter initially, but that's going to change as these headers heat cycle, eventually turning that bright silver into a dark copper color. On the other hand, you have the ceramic coated option, which will remain that bright silver throughout their lifespan. Secondly, that ceramic coating is going to act as a great insulator helping keep under-hood temperatures down to a minimum, which is always great for performance. Now those added benefits do come at a cost, as ceramic coatings are typically more expensive than stainless or chrome options. Now as I mentioned earlier, installing a set of shorty headers is a lot easier than a set of long tubes, but even still, I would leave yourself a full day just to tackle the install, just in case anything goes wrong. Either way, you can always contact your local shop if you get stuck, they should be able to help you out. Quality BBK Construction. BBK Shorty Tuned Length Headers are manufactured from 1-3/4" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow. And feature one piece laser cut 3/8" header flanges for additional strength, leak-free performance and a OEM fit. Application. Designed as a direct bolt on, these BBK Shorty Tuned Length Headers will bolt straight up in the stock location to the factory Mid-Pipe without any modifications on both automatic and manual 2011-2014 GT Mustangs to improve exhaust flow and sound.

is a tune required for the Headers

  • A tune is recommended for optimum performance of any header assemble whether it is stock length or long tube however, since these are of stock length you will not require a new tune.


Can i use these with the magnaflow o/r tru X-Pipe and the Roush axel back exhaust?

Tune required Is a tune required for these headers?

  • A tune is not required as they are a direct replacement... however to get the most out of any mod a tune is always a good idea, wheat her it's required or not.

i bought the borla attack mufflers and tips will the bbk shorty headers and x pipe bolth together ?

  • The Borla ATAK Axle-back doesn't actually bolt up directly to the mid-pipe so the BBK Shorty Headers and X-pipe will bolt up with no problems at all! Enjoy!

I have the magnaflow cat back competition exhaust! Can I use these headers with it?

  • Sure can! Both the catback and the headers bolt up to the factory mid-pipe so you won't have any problems!

    This product is great for CA customers

    This product is great for customers like me in California. I chose to go with the chrome finish because it's hard to see headers anyway in the 2012, I'm not really concerned about how they look. I did the install myself in the garage working off jackstands, it took me 9 hours to compleat. I definitely recommend trying to find a lift to install these. I feel the install would've been much easier if BBK would have sent 7 bolts rather then 5. Overall I am happy with this product, it definitely puts power to the ground where you can feel it.

    Great addition to my stang. Love the sound and performance gains, especially when combined with Boss 302 intake and JLT CAI. Bama race tune brought out the beast.

    Bbk shorty headers

    Overall, the bbk headers came in very quickly after I ordered them. Packaging was great no scratches whatsoever and looked great just looking at the chrome finish! Took to a shop to install which was a little on the pricey end, but was completely worth it! They look great on the engine bay! Performance wise I felt a good kick in acceleration as soon as they were installed, Also noticed a nice sound in increase! Overall, great buy!

    Crazy install!!!

    This install took about 9 hours on a lift with a little help from a friend. I like the sound a little more aggressive and with full exhaust it compliments my other components. also looks good under the hood.

    Shorty headers

    Expensive mod. Didn't do much for performance, hoping to see more gains when I decide to tune my car with these. They look good under the hood. Don't really notice much sound difference with my American Thunders. Wish I went with exhaust cut outs instead. Also, this was a very long and difficult install for the shop.

    Really Loud!

    I already had the magnaflow competition series installed so it was already fairly loud... Added these with the after cat x pipe, it's blow your doors off loud now! Yes, it drones a lot at 2k but I love the sound! You're upgrading the wrong car if You don't like the drone! Noticed a significant throttle response from this install and if I could stay out of the gas the economy was helped by it too. If you're interested in keeping your stock cats like I was, this is a great route. I had a shop install it an it still took them a full 8 hours to do, not a jack stand install by any means.

    Nice Gains for Relatively Low Cost

    Combined with the after-cat X-pipe and our special Flowmaster exhaust, these headers are incredible value for the money spent. Even with a shop install, I'm impressed. Next step is a new hood (with better air induction), new cold air intake and a throttle body change. We're going to trick out the 2013 GT I guess!
