Description
Tuned Length Design. BBK Shorty "Tuned Length" Headers out perform both the factory manifolds and regular shorty headers. Tuned Length Headers have a unique extended tubular design that allows for unrestricted exhaust flow to increase horsepower and torque. Perfect for street and strip.

Quality BBK Construction. BBK Shorty Tuned Length Headers are manufactured from 1-5/8" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow. And feature one piece laser cut 3/8" header flanges for additional strength, leak-free performance and a OEM fit. These headers are then completed in a bright chrome finish for good looks and a long life.

Application. Designed as a direct bolt on, these BBK Shorty Tuned Length Headers will bolt straight up in the stock location to the factory Mid-Pipe without any modifications on both automatic and manual 2005 to 2010 GT and 2008 to 2009 Bullitt Mustangs to improve exhaust flow and sound.

Technical Notes. These BBK Shorty Headers are CARB certified (CARB EO Number: D-245-16) and 50 state legal.

I am a service manager for goodyear but I still get my hands dirty very easy install except limited access for tightening of headers. may need a contorsionist for that

Hi I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is our breakdown of BBK’s tuned length shorty header, available in your choice of either ceramic or chrome for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT. So why would you want to use a set of shorty header versus a set of long tubes? Well in a nutshell, a shorty header is a great entry level header. For one, they’re generally less expensive than a set of long tubes, and they’re going to be easier to install thanks to the fact that you don’t have to modify your mid pipe like you would using long tubes. A shorty header might not make as much power as a set of long tubes, but it’s still going to be a solid upgrade over those cast iron factory manifolds. These particular headers feature what BBK refer to as their tuned length runner design, which basically makes them a hybrid between a long tube and a standard shorty header. In the end, BBK claims slightly more power using these headers versus your standard shorty design, while still maintaining a no modification needed, direct bolt on. Taking a closer look at these headers, you’ll see they feature 1 and 5/8” mandrel bent tubing for better flow, and laser cut flanges for an OEM like fit. As I mentioned before you do have the option of picking these shorties up in either a ceramic coating, or a chrome finish. So what are the differences going to be between the two finishes? For one you can see the chrome finish is a little brighter now, but that’s going to change as these headers heat cycle, turning that bright silver chrome color into a more copperish blue color. However, the ceramic coated headers will stay that bright silver color over the years. Secondly, that ceramic coating is going to be much better at reducing underhood temps, which is always better for performance. Those added benefits do come at a price as ceramic coated headers are generally more expensive than chrome headers, or even stainless steel headers. Doing the install on any set of headers can be a little intense, so it’s a great idea to leave yourself a full day, just in case anything goes wrong. As always if you don’t feel confident with the install, don’t be afraid to give your local shop a call, they should be able to help you out. So if you’re looking for a bolt on header with the installation and price benefits of a shorty header design, with the performance to back it up, then you’ll definitely want to check out a set of these BBK tuned length shorty headers for your ride today.

  • I installed these along after already having FRPP intake manifold, C&L CAI and Borla cat-back. Once these where on i did notice much more response to throttle input and that is currently on a 91 tune.

the BBk Chrome Tuned Length shorty headers work with Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe i want to know if a can mix the brands of the header and the x pipe? bbk shorty header with the pypes off road x pipe sorry for mi writing i living in Panama soy my English is soso thx

  • yes you can mix and match most products. the off road x pipe should bolt right on to the bbk headers

    08 GT Mustang

    This install is not overly complicated, but there are a few suggestions. When you order the headers, order the O2 sensor extensions, you will appreciate this when you reconnect these. My E7 would not fit the studs, but my 7mm, 6point socket worked just fine. The passenger side requires that most of the studs be removed before OEM exhaust can be removed, the one directly behind the AC compressor for sure. Be careful replacing motor mount brackets, very easy to cross thread the bolts,if you do, just take a 8mm tap, and clean up the threads and your good to go. This is a good, medium difficulty install, if your mechanical, then you expect some difficulties, that is what makes doing it yourself fun, but there are few with these headers. If I had to rate the most difficult part of this install, doing it on floor jacks, it would be the O2 sensor reconnect, and getting the H-pipe back up by yourself, the other install steps, are just expected, take your time stuff. I think that\'s the key here, take your time, and it will come out perfect. I would be remiss, if I did not mention the added kick in the seat of the pants performance boost. My 08 Stang, is now toting a Roush Cold air kit, BBK twin 62mm Throttle Body, and BBK Headers, American Muscle Rules, for parts and prices. Nuff said.

    Great product!

    I am amazed at how well these babies went in. I expected the install to be more difficult. I have a Flowmaster axle back and I have to say it sounds like an animal. A pissed off one!!! Great buy!

    It took lil longer than i thought it would but it was worrth the time. w/ those headers no mufflers n straight pype my pony sounds loud n pulls a lot of attention! Tanx AM!

    WOW

    Just had them put in today and let me tell you these babies are awesome!!! They sound great with my flowmaster axle back! It is def louder but very deep and powerful. Most of all the power increase is great. Really is much faster!! So satisfied with this product a def must have!!

    Sounds sick! I had a shop do the installation, costs a little extra but worth it. I bought the pypes catted x pipe and pypes catback and all together my stang sounds like a beast! Thanks AM

    05 GT MUSTANG

    These headers changed the the sound to be more like a muscle car and are much louder. I also have PYPES mid race pipe. Expect lots of attention with this combo!

    Actually could tell a big difference in the sound and the power. Great product.. I am running mine with Pypes O/R X and MBRP catbacks. Definitely recommend these headers.
