Description
Full Ratchet Action. The stock factory shifter is fine for daily driving, but it has some serious drawbacks when it comes to street/strip performance. The Mustang B&M Hammer Ratchet Shifter has a full ratchet action mechanism for solid positive shifts, so there is no fear of hanging up between gears or missing a gear all together. Reverse Lockout. To prevent you from accidentally shifting into reverse while your banging through the gears the B&M Ratchet Shifter features a reverse lockout mechanism. To shift into neutral, reverse or park positions, just lift the trigger and ratchet the shifter forward for each position.

Direct Fit Installation. The B&M Hammer Console Ratchet Shifter was designed to the 1994-2004 Mustang's center console with no modifications required to the factory AODE transmission. And to further simplify the installation this ratchet shifter includes the neutral safety switch, backup light switch, lighted gear indicator, leather shift boot and polished aluminum T-Handle.

Application. This B&M Hammer Console Ratchet Shifter is designed to fit the 1994 to 2004 V6 and GT Mustang's equipped with an AODE Automatic Transmission and meets NHRA and IHRA requirements.

  • overdrive is controled by a button just like the stock unit . 1st 2nd and 3rd can be controled by the shifter like stock .whats nice is that when you shift up it will only go one shift at a time . really great over stock shifter .

Will shifting with this hurt the tranny? Im very interested in purchasing this shifter theres just a few things i need to know. 1. Will it hurt the transmission shifitng like this? 2. How would i shift into 4th gear. 3. Do i have to let off the gas when shifting.? 4. Can you downshift while driving? And finally is there any preformance gain in this? Thank you for whoever answers. I drive an automatic stang and i want to make it so i have the option to shift safely! Is this the right product. And if not. What is?

  • this is a direct replacement for your factory shifter. It will not damage your transmission. 4th gear is controlled by the over drive switch just like your factory shifter.you do not have to let off gas to shift ether up or down . this shifter will allow you to shift manualy one gear at a time when in you want or just place in drive for for normal operation. as far as performance no but sure can make it fun to drive .

Stock AODE Tranny? would this work with a completely STOCK transmission with no manual valve body or anything? and is this OK for the transmission (shifting gears) as a daily driver? thanks !

  • this works the same as your stock shifter . you have 2 options put in drive and go ,or you can control what gear your in .using the shift up or down it will shift one gear at a time like a stick shift with out missing a shift . really nice

    Overall great shifter, especially compared to stock. Plus it has the lock out so you cant tear up your tranny! The shifter is so much easier to look at too compared to that cheap plastic factory mess that was in mine. After reading some of the reviews for the install I was a little worried, but pretty much it went in like it should. It did take some time though. I didnt have to go back and forth like others had too and everything needed was included. Only problem was removing a rubber gasket from the interior bezel to make it fit tight since the new shifter was bigger and sat a bit higher. And my other problem was the shifter knob itself. The chrome finish completely came off the top side of it. And i didnt use any crazy products on it to clean prints off. Windex is the only thing i can think off.... I called and emailed AM about it, I was just asked for photos... which i sent to get a new knob, but still havnt heard anything. but when i get a chance ill call again.

    Looks and Works Good

    I recently purchased this for my 04 V6. The product came well packaged and protected. Installation was easy and took less than an hour, or it would have but they did not include the screws for the shifter cable. I had to run out to get the ones in the manual they specify came with it but they did not fit. I then had to scrounge up some bolts and lock nuts to finish the job. Another problem I ran into was the old screws did not go back in good and stripped out while I was installing so I had to replace those. Mine also goes into park and shifts through all the gears fine but it won't push the cable far enough in to engage park properly and so the car does not start in park but only in neutral even after about 5 times of adjusting it but I kinda like this better. Other than that it delivers. Yon won't get much out of it as far as shifting goes if you have a tuner but it is very good for shifting from 3rd or 4th down to second. Overall it performs the way I expected it to and it looks way better than stock.

    Great for racing

    My buddy has this on his 97 Gt so I thought why not? So I put it in my 99 GT and love it great tire chirping shifts, one this is the base of the unit does get extremely hot with the tranny

    great product! so much better than the old regular shifter. I bought this due to the fact when i purchased the car there was no indicator and wanted something more eye catching. So worth it. Installation was a little tight but expected. Still overall worth the buy!

    Grerat shifts, way better than stock. Agree on the pain to install, it wasn't hard to install just time consuming to get everything set up correctly but, don't let that scare you it just takes patients. Overall I like it and looks remarkable compared to the stock shifter.

    This Shifter is worth it when finished!

    This shifter is a great way to get that stock boring shifter out of your mustang and give it an old school custom look. For my '03, installation was a little bit tricky. The shifter cable was too short for the shifter to put the transmission in park so I had to remove the shifter cable and dremel out the slot on the shifter cable. After that, the shifter could put the car in park. The shifter looks amazing installed, and is definitely worth the time and money you put in your car.
