the product looks great coming out of the package, the color installation instructions were right on the money, installation was simple and the end result is a sharp looking engine bay.

    Elite struts

    March 13, 2010

Took me about an hour and a half to install. Took my time to measure everything 2-3 times before drilling the holes. Be sure to read the instructions and follow them exactly or you'll get into trouble. I drilled the two holes on one side and when I went to put the rivets, the wholes were a little bit too far, had to expand one just a little to make it fit. If I followed the instructions like it said, I should just had drilled the bottom hole and put the rivet and then drill the upper hole. Did it on the other side and definitely is the way to do it. Also make sure you put the struts on the bottom first, I went ahead and put one side top part first and then had to maneuver to hook the bottom part. READ INSTRUCTIONS before, during and just before you do each step.

    Great Item

    September 12, 2008

Pretty simple install. Would have taken less than an hour, but I was working slowly to make sure everything was lined up correctly. Just follow the directions and you will have no problems. Remember to tape the drill bit like they say to prevent denting the hood.

    Elite Hood Struts

    April 27, 2011

This purchase put me just over 5 grand of mods I've done to my '07 V6, and putting the hood supports on is one of my favorites. (although I say that with each mod I add) I was very tentative of the installation mainly because I don't like drilling holes in my car. But, if you follow the very detailed, colorful directions, you can't go wrong. As others have said, just follow the directions exactly as they're laid out, and you'll have no problems. I'm pushing 60 and have never shot a rivet in my life. That was somewhat scary to me, and still not sure how a rivet works, but it was cool at how secure it attached the hood brackets. I was really surprised to be honest. Rivets are something I've just never done in my 45 years of wrenching on cars. So I had to buy a decent hand rivet gun ($20 at HD) and it really did the trick. Popped those 4 rivets in with no problem. Be sure and have a vacuum handy to suck up the metal shavings when you drill. I also put a piece of cardboard underneath the hood when I drilled to keep the shavings from getting somewhere they didn't need to be. I also was concerned about the shock supports not being very stout when installed. But these things not only look good, but are very strong. You can feel it when you raise the hood. Just raise it about 1/3 way up, let go and watch it slowly rise. These supports are awesome and am so glad I put them on. Now I want to raise the hood ever chance I get. I've got about $500 worth of chrome under the hood now and these supports really add to the nice look. I couldn't wait to take the old prop off the car completely. It'd be like leaving training wheels on your bike after you learned to ride a two-wheeler. These don't add any horsepower, but believe me, you won't regret putting them on. Don't get in a hurry, follow the directions, and enjoy the new look. American Muscle is #1 for Mustang parts, bar none. And their lightning shipping is second to no one. Simply the best company to deal with when dressing out your Pony. I'm totally addicted to AM, and everytime I get a few dollars ahead, it goes straight to them. Thanks AM for being there.

    Nice kit!

    January 02, 2009

Easy installation. Works great. Looks great. No more hood prop in the way. 2 stage lift is a nice feature for automatically easing the hood into full open position. Im so glad I got this!

    Great Product!

    June 14, 2011

Replaced a set of bolt on no lift pieces of garbage that cost 99 bucks. Hind sight is 20/20 I guess. These struts are all they claim to be, a far superior option to the cheaper bolt on variety. Installation is trickier, with all the drilling (cringe), but the directions are easy to follow and you should follow them. Wind no longer a factor on my hood, anything short of a hurricane these struts laugh at. Also, there is upward force on my hand in the spot my old struts would come crashing down, that is until they failed completely.

    Should have been stock!

    April 05, 2012

With a with a drill, 3/16 bit, rivet gun and a little patience I installed the Redline struts. I am very pleased! When I lift the hood half-way it raises effortlessly on it's own. Beautiful to watch. Thanks AM!

    Clean Look!

    March 31, 2012

I think a lot of people may pass over these struts because they require holes to be drilled. Let me tell you, if you follow the very clear instructions that are included, you will have no trouble. ~Do read them through first and be sure to drill only one of the rivet holes and pop-rivet the hood brackets on before drilling the second hole.~ When you're done you will have top quality stainless hood struts that look better than factory. Something else you'll appreciate is the "soft stop" when they reach full extension. A great product!
