Great for Daily Drivers. The Exedy Mach 350 Stage 1 clutch combines an organic compound disc with a high clamp pressure plate that delivers superior durability with stock-like driveability. The Exedy Mach 350 Stage 1 clutch is the perfect clutch for the street-driven, mildly modded, daily driven Mustang. Exedy's 350 clutch firms up your pedal for a sporty feel without the on-off characteristics of a true race clutch and is good to 430 ft-lbs of torque at the flywheel.

Premium Quality. The Exedy Mach 350 Stage 1 clutch is designed to offer the durability of an upgraded performance clutch with the main focus on keeping the great street driveability of a stock unit. All of Exedy's discs feature spring center dampers to reduce drivetrain shock.

Application. This Exedy Mach 350 Stage 1 Clutch is designed for the Late 2001-2004 GT, 1999-2004 Cobra, 2001 Bullitt, and 2003-2004 Mach 1 with the T-45, TR-3650, or T-56 transmission with a 10 spline input shaft.

I’m Dave from AmericanMuscle.com and today I have a clutch made for us by a well-known stock and performance clutch manufacturer, Exedy. And this one is the Mach 350 Stage 1 Clutch fitting the 96-04 GTs. The Mach 350 Stage 1 Clutch is sold exclusively at AmericanMuscle.com and is designed to hold more horse power and torque then your slippery factory clutch; in fact it’s a great upgrade from your factory clutch. The quality of this product comes from the fact that unlike other aftermarket clutch manufacturers Exedy makes there’s from scratch; this is not a modified OE part, this is made from high strength ductal steel and is guaranteed to be durable and reliable. And again, this is not an OE pressure plate that has been modified and painted. Combine this with the special friction special friction material on the clutch disc you are going to get a strong and reliable clutch that feels like stock but out performs it. The center of this clutch features a high torque spring that’s going to help absorb and deflect high levels of torque under hard driving; it’s going to help alleviate some of the stress on the driveline, the clutch, and the driver. Now that high torque spring is also going to work great under high RPM clutch engagement to absorb some of that torque and help keep the clutch intact and give you consistent performance from gear to gear. This clutch is designed specifically to handle the strength and bite required for a mustang and Exedy has built and tested this clutch to make sure it acts like a stock, but with loads more power and amazing performance. That’s part of what makes this clutch perfect for the daily driver, or the weekend cruiser or even the weekend racer. The Mach 350 Stage 1 by Exedy won’t blow apart on you and it’s designed to hold the horsepower and torque of the Mustang. Also this part is SFI certified so you can have more confidence it is construction and performance, it’s going to hold up no matter what you use it for or how hard you drive it. Installing this part is a little more involved then your typical bolt on, but it can be done at home, just know that before you get started you do need to remove the exhaust and drop the transmission before you get to your clutch and flywheel bolts. It is possible at home but it’s going to take you about 4 hours to get completed, so if you are not up for the challenge I do recommend you bring it down to your local shop. Will a factory flywheel work out with putting this clutch in my 04 gt stock daily drive? Brand new stock flywheel

  • It will work, make sure to get the flywheel resurfaced. I replaced a clutch before without resurfacing the flywheel and had problems after a while with the clutch smoothly engaging. The only way that it wouldn't work is if your flywheel is damaged beyond repair. A shop that does resurfacing will be able to tell you this. The good thing about this clutch is that it feels very similar to the stock one which is perfect for a daily driver.

I'm looking for a clutch that will have the same pedal feel as I currently do now. It's a little on the stiff side but I like the pedal stiff. Is this a good option or should I go with the Mach 400 Stage 2?

  • It really depends on how much power your making, i put this exact clutch on my GT with 350 wheel hp and the peddle was no stiffer than it already was. I also got wheel spin on my 4th gear shift at 90mph rather than clutch slip. So if your looking to replace your stock clutch and want no difference in engagement this is the one i would go with.

I purchased this clutch back in November 2014 was wondering if there was any warranty on it. recently I have been experiencing a chirping noise and a mechanic said that the throwout bearing is rubbing on the pressure plate and I was hoping I could get some help on a replacement kit thanks Bill

  • The chirping noise is usually a bad throwout bearing. Check the throwout bearing guide tube for wear while you have the trans out. Proper clutch adjustment will keep the throwout bearing from constantly riding on the pressure plate fingers.

    Very smooth feel to this clutch.

    I race my Mach 1 in SCCA autocross events. Have not had the chance to race with the new clutch yet, but street driving is very comfortable. Much smoother than the stock clutch was and the value is very good.

    Great clutch for the money

    This clutch kit is a great buy if your stang is used as a DD. The clutch hooks up good and pedal feel right after the install is very light, though mine did firm up a bit about 150-200 miles in. I decided to cheap out and not go for the ford TOB and so far with a little over 850 miles on the clutch, I've had no problems with the supplied TOB whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this product.

    Smooth as butter...

    The TB and Pilot that comes with this kit use the same exact bearings (#'s match) the pilot has less of a shoulder to the housing but not part of the bearing support more for install, I used the ford racing stuff due too I had purchased them along with this kit, in hindsight there was no need -save your money. This clutch is the best pedal feel I have had in my car ever (3 different types), perfect daily driver -will extend the life of the rest of the drive-line.

    Great replacement for day le drive

    Just got done putting in this clutch, every thing fits perfect on my 04 GT. Clutch in not stiff, great for those who get in to traffic. No chatter what so ever ( remember when doing a clutch your self do not just slap it in... get your fly wheel resurfes or get a new one.) Also i would get the ford racing throw-out and pilot baring.. well worth the extra money. Clutch grips good. Would recommend this for a DD

    Pros and Cons

    Pros: 1. Great Bite 2. Clear and accurate instructions 3. No Chatter 4. Thick friction plate makes me think it will last a long time Cons: 1.VERY poor quality bearings 2. TOB failed backing out of the garage 3. Neither AM nor Exedy will warranty bearings unless done by a "qualified shop" DO NOT USE THE BEARINGS INCLUDED IN THIS KIT. SPEND THE EXTRA $40 FOR A "FORD RACING" TOB!!!!! OR YOU WILL BE DOING IT TWICE!!!!

    great clutch for the money

    I have an 02 gt and just installed this clutch kit. everything fit great. i did however go with the ford racing throw out bearing and pilot bearing. the kits tob looked like the ford one but i didnt want to risk it. anyways it is smooth and has an easy pedal feel. i would recommend this product.

    Feels Like Stock

    It has been 500 miles and its as smooth as can be. I have a mildly modified 2004 GT. This is perfect for going from 55 to 85 on the highway. Down shift and go. The price is cheaper than any shop around. Highly recommend. The bite is instant at first but after 500 miles it will be just as sweet as can be. AL

    great stock replacement

    The pedal feels softer than stock, however grips up way better! Easy install great product... I would recommend to anyone!! Perfect clutch if you just like to go out and drive all day and have fun and don't plan on making a bunch of power .

    Great Pedal for my daily driver

    I installed this clutch as soon as my new motor was off of the engine stand, right before i put the motor in the car. It only took a few minutes with the help of the alignment tool that comes in the kit. The pedal feels great now in my daily driver, even when im in traffic. 2004 40th Anniversary Edition
