Tune? While I plan on getting a tune in a few months my question is does this Axle-back exhaust require a tune?

  • No tune would be required for the installation of an axle-back. Just install and enjoy!

Is this the same exact same part number as the one for the 2011-2012? It says out of stock on the 2013 gt. Also do they stick out more than the stock mufflers on the 2013? The picture online shows a 2013 under the 2011-2012 with these on it and it looks like they are sticking out way past the bumper. Thats why i was wondering if they were different length on the 2013 compared to the 2012.

  • No, this isn't the same part number as the 2011-2012 Outlaws. The 2013 exhaust changed ever so slightly and Flowmaster created an updated version specifically for the 2013s that will fit very nicely in the bumper cutouts! Hope this helps!

Does this fit well with my mustang GT/CS 2014?

  • Yes all though it will depend on how loud you want your exhaust to be, fitment should not be a problem, I had the same exhaust on my 2012 Boss Mustang a long with my side exit exhaust that came with the Boss ( no spacers in my side exhaust as well ) and the car was load very load, I also had the MRT H-Pipe with free flowing cats, all I can say is it sounded great but it was load. So if you like it load and free flowing go for it the Flowmaster Outlaw axle backs are great.

Answer This Question

By any chance could this exhaust fit my 2014 v6 mustang?

  • Hi, This axle back will not fit on a V6 Mustang because the GT uses larger connection piping than the stock V6.

Could these fit on a 2014 V6 Mustang?

  • The Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust (13-14 GT) will not be able to fit a 2014 V6 Mustang because the piping size for V6's are 2.5" whereas the Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust piping size is 2.75".

fitment to aftermarket x pipe new to exhausts but will this fit a 3 inch offroad x pipe? it says this is 2.75 inch so im curious if this will fit.

  • The Flowmaster Outlaw Series Axle-Back Exhaust connects to the stock cat-back, which is connected the the x-pipe, so this will not directly attach a x/h-pipe as there is a section of exhaust between the x/h-pipe and the axle back system. As long as the section of exhaust after the x/h-pipe is 2.75" in diameter, these axle backs will fit like a glove.

    Just mean!!!

My 2014 coyote coupled with the Flowmaster Outlaws is one of the meanest sounding engines I've ever listened to. It sounds like a totally different car. If you want aggressive you want outlaws.

    Get it

I've NEVER tackled anything like this before but installation videos seemed straight forward so I tried. Sounds great. Looks great. First couple days will be EXTREMELY load until carbon builds up. Use WD40 to remove old exhaust by spraying where old hangers come out of rubber mounts. Also, if it's still a little loud in the cabin, by some peel and seal for trunk and floor pan. Love my "new" mustang

For the money it's an amazing sound. I belong to a car Club and even they were shocked. I thought I would get a lot of cab noise but only a light hum. Outside the car, you know I'm there. Very easy to install. I sometimes just start my car just to hear the rumble. I love it.

    WOW! These things are loud!

At first, I was very skeptical. I looked at every single axle back that caught my eye, and believe me it was a hard decision, considering I was going off the reviews on here. Eventually I pulled the trigger on the Flowmaster Outlaw Series, and man, am I glad I did! They are loud (for only an axle back) and give your Stang that nice muscle car roar! If you're a fan of loud, GET THESE, don't hesitate. But be warned, there is a drone, mainly on the highway at 2k rpm, but besides that these are top notch! Like everyone else says, the longest part about the install is getting the stock axle back off, so once you get those off, it's pretty much smooth sailing!

    What a change...

I have a tune... JLT Air Kit, a Whiteline Trans Bushing and a Ford Racing short throw. In addition to this muffler I also added a new 3" MBRP H-Pipe. I tell ya what kids... If you want sound... this is it. I have been a muscle car owner for years. I still have my cats and resonators, but this was just surprisingly awesome! I am not sure I want to do headers and a cat delete because it just might be too much! Total install was $130 with the H-Pipe. Muffler alone would have been $65. Thanks to Detroit Muscle Speed Shop in Lakeland, FL for the fast and awesome job on the install. Everyone.. this is the muffler if you want your car to be noticed!

Louder than stock but not obnoxious. Great tone... Slight drone around 2k but nothing the radio can't drown out... Very happy with them!

    Flowmaster Outlaw Axlebacks

I just put these on my 2013 Mustang GT and I love them. I was set on the Roush axlebacks and then heard these on YouTube and decided to go with the outlaws. I definitely recommend these mufflers to anyone that wants a loud but good sounding tone. I took off my OEM mufflers and started the car, and these mufflers have about the same volume but different tone. The only down side of these mufflers is the drone at 2k rpm. Its the worst drone ive ever heard so I stay away from 2k rpms. If your sensitive to drone, these are not for you. But other than that, these are awesome pipes. Also, they are VERY loud! I have my car completely stock except these mufflers and my cold start wakes up the neighborhood. You've been warned.

    Fast and loud

Exhaust is great, it takes longer to get the stock exhaust off one side then It does to put both outlaws on. Only thing I noticed is a decent drone at 2k rpm

It just a completely different sound than any other stang I have heard. This is my third mustang, with my '08 GT and '07 GT500 both having Flowmaster American Thunder mufflers. The Outlaws are hands down the best sounding of the three.

    Great Exhaust

I made a huge mistake when I bought this exhaust. American Muscle couldnt ship it to me in time for the same price, so I bought it from another supplier that could, and boy was that a mistake, as I got the wrong year model and ended up having to wait even longer. I'll always buy from AM even if I have a to wait a extra 2 days. The exhaust note is great, and around 2100 rpms there is a slight drone, but you shouldnt have bought a mustang if you dont like loud. The only issue I had with installation were those rubber exhaust hangers, but after a few youtube videos on doing these I quickly installed these myself, and I am not a clever man. 5 Stars from Flowmaster here!

    Sounds Amazing!

Had my car less then 24 hours before I installed it. Did it in about 1 1/2 in my driveway. Hardest part was removing the old mufflers from the hangers but with a little silicone spray lubricant and a wiggle they came right out. The outlaws bolted up in 5 min each. All worth the sound. Its amazing. I don't know how to describe it. Its loud, but at 65-80mph cruising, no to very minimal drone. The sound is an attention getter. A must have. Ordered them as soon. As they were in stock and were delivered in 2 days.

I have always had flowmasters on my mustangs. The Outlaws are the loudest axle back I've had to date. I'm waiting for spring weather to really test them ..Now it sounds like a muscle car. There is a drone at 2k. I've had the drone before you get used to it. The drone is the only negative. Which is quickly out weighed by the exhaust note from starting the car, idle , and acceleration puts the biggest grin on my face as if I was little kid..Ok as far as installation goes if your doing it yourself the hardest part is removing the stock mufflers..

this exhaust system is to die for!

Amazing is the first word that comes to mind. From the first bolt to the first crank of the key i is was impressed at the ease and finish of this flowmaster exhaust system! I would recommend this to consumers who only like to be noticed! The deep tones and earthquake like vibration coming from the rear of my stang has turned more heads than i can count. Well done flowmaster and american muscle for having made and supplied me this product..... cheers!

    Quick easy install, great sound

Super easy install, took about 40 mins. Sound is awesome. There is drone at 2k rpm's but who cares, turn the radio up. A 3.73 or 4.10 gear swap would probably fix this. I found using a small piece of 2x4 wedged between the cat back exhaust pipe and panhard bar support brace will allow easier removal of the factory axle back. While pushing up on the exhaust tip, with a little muscle, slide the muffler towards the front of the car and it will drop out of the hanger mounts. Have fun and enjoy.

Great Sound, Great Looks, Great Price, Easy Install

These Flowmaster Outlaws are amazing. No drone at all driving at 75 in my 2013 GT. At idle, they are barely louder than stock but much deeper and rumbley. When I rev it up it sounds like rolling thunder. Great smooth sound, not choppy. Around town getting through the gears it gets pretty loud, but as soon as you stop accelerating it quiets down again just as it should. Installation takes one wrench and about an hour, most of which is spent getting the bulky stock mufflers off. The 4 inch tips look great and really fill out the exhaust cutout in the bumper. I could not be more pleased with this product.

Bought my 2014 Mustang GT on October 14, came home, and ordered the exhaust 5 hours after the purchase of my car. Heard many 5.0's with other exhausts such as SLP, BORLA and ROUSH and none of them have that burble that this axle back provides. With the new coyote motor, you miss out on the bubbly exhaust the 4.6 had. With this axle back, you get that burble back! So many people stop and ask me what I have done to the exhaust! Fit and finish was perfect! Easy 20 min install, especially because my car was brand new so all the hangers were still fresh and easy to take off! Thank you American Muscle for your continued service!

    Not 17 anymore

I had to be center of the road on this as the external exhaust note is great, but the internal drone is so horrible I have taken it off. If you are under the age of 25 you might like this, but as you get older (35) and have to talk to a client or passenger, forget it with this in the background. On the phone they can't hear you and if in the car you are yelling at each other just cruising at 60. I did contact flowmaster and by installing a resonator they state will remove all interior noise, but we will see. Also have to be careful as many don't realize but if you change one bolt from a factory ford you remove all of the warrantee from that point on. As for install, since the factory exhaust has little knobs at the end it is hard to get the leverage to just slip them out of the hangers. I ended up removing the hangers to get them off then reinstalling the hangers. 90% of the time was just removing the factory parts.

    Flowmaster Outlaw

I put this exhaust on my 13 GT about a month ago, and I've been extremely pleased with it. I was a little hesitant when I watched some videos on it online due to the raspy and poppy sound the cameras gave. But for the money I thought what the heck, it's just an axle-back what should I expect. I was in for a surprise though, this exhaust will make your 5.0 sound like a straight up monster. Very deep at an idle, and SCREAMS when you want it to. The drone is there, but heck it's a sports car you should wanna hear it. Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because SOMETIMES when at high RPMS it shoots out the top and loses its tone. Other than that, it's perfect for an axle-back. Lots of bang for the buck.
