is it better than flowmaster does it sound better than flowmaster ?????

jmach Year: 2001 Model: V6

  • As always sound is a matter of opion however, quality is not. That is the main difference in these too. Flowmaters sound nice but they tend to deteriorate. They have a major rust problem and the black paint tends to flake off. I would choose magnaflow. I have this kit and it still looks brand new on my daily driver after 2 and a half years of owning it.

MAGNAFLOW CAT BACK SYSTEM I have a 2001 3.8L V6 mustang convertible and want to order the above system. Is it necessary to convert the rear bumper to a GT type or will the system fit with the stock bumper? Also, how loud will the sound be inside the car as I do not want a loud drone inside the cabin.

GIARAMITA Year: 2001 Model: V6

  • Yes, this will fit without the bumper cover change to a GT cover. My brother just put one on his V6 mustang. Sounds great with a little rumble inside when your getting on it. But not bad. Sounds a lot better out the back than stock. Good Luck !!

After the fact. I bought this exhaust system about a month ago and i now want to put headers on my car. Will the stock cats be bad to have with the BBK shorty headers? Is there a pipe that will fit to the headers then to this cat back exhaust? I was thinking of getting rid of the old cats and putting new ones on or getting rid of them fully.

OwenH Year: 2000 Model: V6

  • I would leave the cats or maybe put higher flow ones on. I have the same setup. Sound great and really make a difference with a tuner. If you remove the cats though you will lose a lot of backpressure which in turn will lose torque. It will sound even better with out but you must ask yourself whether you want hp or sound more.

    awesome addition

I was skeptical when i heard the videos but all i have to say now is wow. the sound is exactly what i was looking for. the installation was not terrible but took some time. my dad and i were working off of jacks and jack stands but we got it done. you will need to cut the old cat-back to get it off, and in my case we needed to cut the two bolts holding the system on and replace them. also i found the Vaseline helped with the removal and installation of the rubber hangers. overall very impressed.

    10x Better Than Stock

This is a great add on to your existing stock catalytic converters. The sound is great and the only mods as far as engine wise I have is a Cold Air Intake and now these bad boys. Great V6 Waker Upper!! I found these on another site for $100 cheaper, but I will continue to get all my mustang parts from the best of the best and that's AM. THIS IS A MUST HAVE IF YOU WANT MORE SOUND, BUT DON'T WANT TO SPEND BIG BUCKS!!! You can do it yourself, I have NO mechanic experience and done it by myself.

    Amazing exhaust

I couldn't be more please with this product. My car sounds 150% better. Took about a 3 hour install with no car lift (I used ramps). Only difficult part about putting it on was getting the new pipes around the axle. Overall a 5 star product!!!

    Great Product

This is a great exhaust system for your V6 Mustang. I just bought my 04 Mustang and then bought this system. It fit perfect on my 3.9 V6. It sounds great and I feel a little extra power. Would highly recommend taking off the wheels like everyone else says. It gives you a little extra room. Great system and I would have to recommend it to anyone looking for a cat back for a V6 3.8 or 3.9. Thanks American Muscle and Magnaflow.

    duals

I just got this exhaust put on my \'02 mustang.....and it rocks! The sound is 10 times better than the stock sound and it looks pretty good too. i would still recomend getting a GT bumper that has the dual exhaust inserts in it to make it look even better. Plus American Muscle shipped it to me in 3 days. i love the product and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to improve the sound of their V6. Thanks American Muscle!

    MagnaFlow on 2000 V6

I put this on my stang this summer. A lot of these reviews talk about how long it takes to remove the old system. Mine came of in seconds with a reciprocating saw. If you have access to one, use it. The tone to me does not sound like a GT, but I do have to pop the hood a LOT to convince peeps its just a v6. It sounds a lot like a GT at idle, but WOT is higher pitched. Overall, this system looks and sounds great.

    Simple dual exhaust

Somewhat loud, good fit and nice rumle/gargle when downshifting. Expensive product, dont expect it to be loud if you have catted y-pipe & stock shortty headers. A lot easier then buying new x/h- pipe & a GT exhaust, but not as loud. Great product if you want something a little louder than stock. Buy a cold air intake along with it, helps It not sound like a v6

Fitment was great, and sound was amazing. Really sounds good on a V6 mustang. Was a little hesitant but sounded great. Install time was about an hour.

    Mangaflow Catback V6 Mustang Exhaust

Its quite easy to install which will take about 1hr and 30min or so. Make sure you check for leaks after install. So make sure the exhaust clamps are sealed and tighten and the aligment is right when you bolt on the clamps.
