- How to Install a SR Performance Strut Tower Brace on your 1994-2004 Mustang
Hey everyone I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m taking a look at a very underrated part that will drastically improve your rides handling all while taking it easy on your wallet. I’m referring to the Strut Tower Braces available in black and chrome for all 94-04 Mustangs. Strut tower braces are great for a couple of different reasons, the first and most obvious plus is the fact that they reduce unwanted chasse flex which simply mean that your ride is going to handle a little better. A byproduct of the bar is it really adds to the under hood styling of your ride especially if you opt for the show worthy chrome finish here in front of me, or if you like to keep things sleek and under the radar in your hood then you might want to opt for our powder coated black finish shown behind me on our 98 GT. These bars are constructed from ultra-strong tubular steel which help keep the front end from flexing while the under load throughout turns. These bars also feature a mounting point on the firewall that really helps the front end to feel a lot more solid. So while these options may not be as flashy as our other strut bars, this brace is all business. This bar does require a small amount of work to get everything installed properly you will need to remove your windshield wipers and the upper cal panel just so you can access the bolts connecting this brace to the firewall. In addition to that you will need to drill into your strut towers as well. Well I know this sounds a little daunting, don’t worry, as long as you follow the detailed instructions on this page you should be all wrapped up in about 2 hours. Any knowledgeable car enthusiast will tell you that a good performance suspension is a sum of all its parts with that in mind will this bar help you turn over a g in the skid pad alone? Probably not, but it will tighten things up dramatically and it will look great under the hood while doing so.

New life for a tired pony
I am slowly turning my tired 2004 Mustang v-6,5spd. car into a street, auto cross car. So far I have Installed SR Performance Upper and lower Control Arms, a Rear SR Performance Strut Tower Brace, and now installing the SR Performance Front Strut Tower Brace, On this part take your time and test fit first and then install, you have to drill holes to mount and make sure you don't drill into the wrong spot. It does help in making the body a bit stiffer to help in corners.Helpful (0)

Noticeable difference, slight difficulty
You will notice the difference in turning but the installation was slightly difficult. I had to rig the way it installs so it can clear the throttle wireHelpful (1)

Felt a difference in the corners. Little longer to install that expected but used nutcerts instead of the bolts and change to a grade 8 bolt. Little fitment issue with the hood but nothing a body saw cant fix. Overall very pleased with the productHelpful (3)

The mustang feels secure in tight turns
That instal took a while probably because I didn’t have the right tools, you definitely want some sort of small electric saw or an electric cutting tool to make slots in the plastic cowl cover. And you definitely want a metal drill bit to drill through the thick firewall and other areas that the brace bolts onto. The instructions say a 3/8 drill bit. With the right tools it would be a quick and easy install.Helpful (3)

Install is fairly simple. Have to drill 4 holes but it does make a massive improvement in handling around turns.Helpful (5)

I own a 2003 mustang get convertible and this strut tower brace is a must! Tightened the front up a little and you can for sure notice the difference when you drive.Helpful (8)
will it fit will this item fit in my 99 gt conv.. without any major modifications
yup! only have to drill the holes and no other modification needed EXCEPT cutting out apiece of plastic on your rear firewall area, super easy, Im a noob at cars and did it no problem, just keep calm take your time and itll be perfect
shaker If you have a shaker system will you have to use a Mach 1 strut tower bar or will this one work?
This one will not fit with Shaker
Will this brace fit a 2002 GT convertible?
This will fit on a 2002 GT convertible.
Is it really necessary to notch out the plastic firewall cover for the install ? Seems like just drilling through the plastic would make a strong enough connection to that portion of the brace ? Any thoughts
The SR Performance Black Strut Tower Brace will require trimming the firewall cover, as placing this over the plastic cover will push it out further, causing too large of a gap between the front mounts and strut towers.
Trick flow intake I have a trick flow track heat intake...will this brace fit over it?? Will any of them??
No, the Trick Flow Track Heat intake manifold is too large.
I measured the stock GT intake and it is about a 4" diameter. There is a 1/2" clearance for that intake. I believe your intake would be able to fit, considering the above., although it could be a bit tight. I'd take the chance. The tower bar does make a big difference in the handling, says a guy (me) who had it installed on a 4.6 GT convertible. Cowl shake's history.
The only part listed that will affect fitment of the strut tower brace is a supercharger. Depending on exact brand and model, it may not be able to clear the brace.
This has not been tested for fitment with a 351W and we can not confirm if this would clear your motor or intake manifold.
For proper installation of the SR Performance Black Strut Tower Brace, you will want to use the supplied installation hardware.
That is correct, they should not interfere with Maximum Motorsports caster/camber plates.
Removal would be recommended for optimal access to the spark plugs.
I apologize, we would be unable to guarantee fitment when using the intake from a Windstar.
Unfortunately, this strut brace would not have enough clearance to fit with a Kenne bell supercharger.
Yes, this brace is compatible with the BBK caster camber plates.
