    Review & Installation Video

Hey everyone I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m taking a look at a very underrated part that will drastically improve your rides handling all while taking it easy on your wallet. I’m referring to the Strut Tower Braces available in black and chrome for all 94-04 Mustangs. Strut tower braces are great for a couple of different reasons, the first and most obvious plus is the fact that they reduce unwanted chasse flex which simply mean that your ride is going to handle a little better. A byproduct of the bar is it really adds to the under hood styling of your ride especially if you opt for the show worthy chrome finish here in front of me, or if you like to keep things sleek and under the radar in your hood then you might want to opt for our powder coated black finish shown behind me on our 98 GT. These bars are constructed from ultra-strong tubular steel which help keep the front end from flexing while the under load throughout turns. These bars also feature a mounting point on the firewall that really helps the front end to feel a lot more solid. So while these options may not be as flashy as our other strut bars, this brace is all business. This bar does require a small amount of work to get everything installed properly you will need to remove your windshield wipers and the upper cal panel just so you can access the bolts connecting this brace to the firewall. In addition to that you will need to drill into your strut towers as well. Well I know this sounds a little daunting, don’t worry, as long as you follow the detailed instructions on this page you should be all wrapped up in about 2 hours. Any knowledgeable car enthusiast will tell you that a good performance suspension is a sum of all its parts with that in mind will this bar help you turn over a g in the skid pad alone? Probably not, but it will tighten things up dramatically and it will look great under the hood while doing so.

Reduce Body Flex. When your carving the corners the last thing you want to feel is chassis flex when you rev the engine. This SR Performance Strut Tower Brace is designed for both the GT and V6 Mustang to reduce that unwanted body flex. And is a must for all Mustang owners.

Quality Construction. The SR Performance Mustang Strut Tower Brace is made from super strong steel tubing to keep your front end from flexing from the torque of your motor and is finished with a classic black powdercoat finish for great looks and durability.

Simple Bolt-on Installation. This SR Performance Strut Tower Brace is a simple bolt-on that clears the factory intake manifold and is easily install with basic hand tools.

Application. The SR Performance Black Mustang Strut Tower Brace is designed to fit your 1994 to 2004 V6 or GT Mustang. It will not fit SVT Cobra's, Bullitts or Mach 1 Mustangs.

Will this fit in my mustang if I have a large JLT intake already installed? The intake tube is approximatley 4.5 inches

    Scarlet

    • I measured the stock GT intake and it is about a 4" diameter. There is a 1/2" clearance for that intake. I believe your intake would be able to fit, considering the above., although it could be a bit tight. I'd take the chance. The tower bar does make a big difference in the handling, says a guy (me) who had it installed on a 4.6 GT convertible. Cowl shake's history.

      2004 V6 Install

I asked if it would interfere with the cruise control on the '04 V6 and was informed it would not. This is not correct on mine as it does. Needed to file off the top of the cruise control cable fitting where it attaches to the throttle body as well as the underside of the brace in order for the throttle cable to work properly. It seems to reduce cowl shudder and looks like it belongs there.

      V6's can get serious too

The strut tower brace makes the engine bay in my stang look cleaner and meaner than what it is. My advice powder coat it to match the car's color to make it stand out in the engine bay.

      A different perspective

A tired GT tightened up after this part was installed. This 193,468 mile 1998 GT coupe can go in the curves again. This was my 1SGT's car as a goodluck gift years ago to help me on my way to civilian life back in 2014 . It means more than you know.

Awesome add on but time consuming

Absolutely love this strut brace to start off! My handling is tremendously better when coupled with my coilovers and sway bar. Very little to no body roll. Took me 9 hours to put in due to drilling through strut towers and minor complications, do not be discouraged it is well worth it, just plan accordingly. CAUTION: 1999-04 mustang are very old. I broke my windshield cowl, so take your time to when working on the car. Plastic is very brittle on 15 plus year old car. THANKS AMERICAN MUSCLE! Will keep returning for business.

      Great Performance Upgrade

For about 80 bucks, this is the best mod you can possibly put on your mustang. The install was slightly difficult due to cutting the plastic on the firewall for this to mount correctly, but was well worth the work. Handling improved dramatically with sharpness in turn response, and the body rolls much less in corners. The suspension also stiffened up significantly in the front and all around drivability has improved. This will really increase your confidence in corners. I can take corners from 10 to 15mph faster with this brace than I could before it was installed, and the car achieves this effortlessly. If you were considering buying this brace, don't hesitate, it's well worth the price and the performance improvement is stellar.

      Fitment was good

Installed this into my car as part of my chassis stiffening project as I have a Vert. The bar did not exactly butt up to the firewall but the instructions warned of this which is why they included spacers. Same thing happened on the driver side strut tower. Again spacers used there. The kit comes with grade 8 bolts and lock nuts so the hardware is strong. The only thing I used out of my own garage were washers. Any spacers I didn't use I used them as washers then used my own. Overall I am pleased with the product and it's another step toward making the car more rigid. I already have MM FLSFC welded in. Last step is a rear strut tower brace and I'll be happy.

      Stops the shakes

Put a set or larger wider tires on the car. Despite being balanced in the front and in excellent shape had some wobble issues. Put this strut tower brace on and 95 of the issue went away. Very please with the product. Got mine in black.

      Great Item, But Think Ahead!

This is a very stylish add-on for under the hood views. I thought that the brace would come down a lot further than it does, but it actually stops just above my alternator. Me personally, I would probably wait to put this on after you’ve gone into your engine for the last few times, because you may have to take the brace off if you plan on doing more under the hood. It makes a triangle around the arm of your aftermarket cold air, and upper intake plenum, so if you have to do anything with those parts, you may have to remove it. Just something to think about. All in all, great item, and I’m looking forward to driving it more to see how my 01 GT reacts to this new bolt on. Very easy to install yourself.

      1997 V6

First off I can at least say it looks good. Mine was in black wrinkle finish and matched my valve covers so I was stoked about that. I already had mounting holes that fit a previous strut brace perfectly. This brace dit not fit in any way shape or form. Even if I drill the holes to use the provided hardware it is bent wrong to clear the 3.8 intake. i plan to flatten the crossbar to clear the intake and use spacers to give a touch more clearance. You get what you pay for. A note needs to be made that states 94-98 V6 will require modification to fit.
