    Review & Installation Video

Hey everyone I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m taking a look at a very underrated part that will drastically improve your rides handling all while taking it easy on your wallet. I’m referring to the Strut Tower Braces available in black and chrome for all 94-04 Mustangs. Strut tower braces are great for a couple of different reasons, the first and most obvious plus is the fact that they reduce unwanted chasse flex which simply mean that your ride is going to handle a little better. A byproduct of the bar is it really adds to the under hood styling of your ride especially if you opt for the show worthy chrome finish here in front of me, or if you like to keep things sleek and under the radar in your hood then you might want to opt for our powder coated black finish shown behind me on our 98 GT. These bars are constructed from ultra-strong tubular steel which help keep the front end from flexing while the under load throughout turns. These bars also feature a mounting point on the firewall that really helps the front end to feel a lot more solid. So while these options may not be as flashy as our other strut bars, this brace is all business. This bar does require a small amount of work to get everything installed properly you will need to remove your windshield wipers and the upper cal panel just so you can access the bolts connecting this brace to the firewall. In addition to that you will need to drill into your strut towers as well. Well I know this sounds a little daunting, don’t worry, as long as you follow the detailed instructions on this page you should be all wrapped up in about 2 hours. Any knowledgeable car enthusiast will tell you that a good performance suspension is a sum of all its parts with that in mind will this bar help you turn over a g in the skid pad alone? Probably not, but it will tighten things up dramatically and it will look great under the hood while doing so.

Reduce Body Flex. When your carving the corners the last thing you want to feel is chassis flex when you rev the engine. This SR Performance Strut Tower Brace is designed for both the GT and V6 Mustang to reduce that unwanted body flex. And is a must for all Mustang owners.

Quality Construction. The SR Performance Mustang Strut Tower Brace is made from super strong steel tubing to keep your front end from flexing from the torque of your motor and is finished with a classic black powdercoat finish for great looks and durability.

Simple Bolt-on Installation. This SR Performance Strut Tower Brace is a simple bolt-on that clears the factory intake manifold and is easily install with basic hand tools.

Application. The SR Performance Black Mustang Strut Tower Brace is designed to fit your 1994 to 2004 V6 or GT Mustang. It will not fit SVT Cobra's, Bullitts or Mach 1 Mustangs.

shaker If you have a shaker system will you have to use a Mach 1 strut tower bar or will this one work?

    • This one will not fit with Shaker

Is it really necessary to notch out the plastic firewall cover for the install ? Seems like just drilling through the plastic would make a strong enough connection to that portion of the brace ? Any thoughts

    • The SR Performance Black Strut Tower Brace will require trimming the firewall cover, as placing this over the plastic cover will push it out further, causing too large of a gap between the front mounts and strut towers.

Trick flow intake I have a trick flow track heat intake...will this brace fit over it?? Will any of them??

    • No, the Trick Flow Track Heat intake manifold is too large.

Will this fit in my mustang if I have a large JLT intake already installed? The intake tube is approximatley 4.5 inches

    • I measured the stock GT intake and it is about a 4" diameter. There is a 1/2" clearance for that intake. I believe your intake would be able to fit, considering the above., although it could be a bit tight. I'd take the chance. The tower bar does make a big difference in the handling, says a guy (me) who had it installed on a 4.6 GT convertible. Cowl shake's history.

      Fitment issues

The product works but theworkmanship is second rate. The brace was made crooked and did not line up as described. Strut bar at the firewall was about a inch to high and the strut tower mount feet were off by about a half inch fwd and aft. Luckily I have a welder and was able to fix it.

      Black strut

Nice looking but was not a bolt on easy job. It did not fit flush on my 98 gt. Had to do some banging on it to fit right. Which made a longer install due to trying to make it fit.

      Looks good

I started installing. Stepped back and realized, if for any reason I would need to remove it for other engine work I was going to have to remove the fragile cowl, jack the car, remove the wheels just to access the nuts. It would be so much better if the nuts were fixed in place. I fabricated backing plates with nuts and washers welded and attached to the car. Now the bar goes in and out buy just removing the bolts.

      ugh

I replaced the shocks as well but after adding this i am not sure how much of a difference i feel. The front end kinda feels more in control. Double, triple, constantly check your clearance while drilling and installing. 2nd pair of hands helps but not necessary.

Really makes a difference on bumpy roads. I have very little windshield shake and nice and tight with the top up or down.

      Nice upgrade

Pretty straight forward upgrade. You'll spend more time with preparations then you will with instillation. I did notice a that there is less flex but I will definitely be installing front and rear sway bars.

      Nice but i doubt functional

This strut brace looks good, and quality not so bad little bad with the firewall but it fits. In terms of handling and chassis firm up well.. I felt no improvement. Convertible 2004 GT

      2004 V6 Install

I asked if it would interfere with the cruise control on the '04 V6 and was informed it would not. This is not correct on mine as it does. Needed to file off the top of the cruise control cable fitting where it attaches to the throttle body as well as the underside of the brace in order for the throttle cable to work properly. It seems to reduce cowl shudder and looks like it belongs there.

      V6's can get serious too

The strut tower brace makes the engine bay in my stang look cleaner and meaner than what it is. My advice powder coat it to match the car's color to make it stand out in the engine bay.

      A different perspective

A tired GT tightened up after this part was installed. This 193,468 mile 1998 GT coupe can go in the curves again. This was my 1SGT's car as a goodluck gift years ago to help me on my way to civilian life back in 2014 . It means more than you know.
