Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here with a quick breakdown of the SR Performance throttle spacer fitting all 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. SR Performance is a company that has been earning the attention and respect of a lot of Mustang owners lately thanks to their high quality yet budget friendly performance and suspension components for a wide variety of Mustangs. If you would like to stay up to date with all the latest SR products released for your ride, just click on the banner to subscribe to our YouTube channel if you haven’t done so already. The SR Performance throttle body spacer is designed to work specifically with the twin 55mm throttle body on all 3 valve Mustangs, with the goal of increasing your plenum volume which in turn should give you a little bump in power and torque and even throttle response. The throttle body spacer itself is made from 100% solid billet aluminum, and while it won’t add a ton of power on its own, it is a great compliment to those other basic bolt ons, such as your headers, your exhaust, your cold air intake system, and even superchargers. If you do want to hear what other 3 valve owners are saying about this part from SR Performance, I do encourage you to click the link below to head back to the product page, if you’re not there already, just to read up on some of those reviews. The spacer does come along with all the necessary hardware and gaskets needed for the installation and best of all does not require a tune. Speaking of the install, this one is pretty much as easy as it gets, you’ll want to first remove the factory throttle body, install the spacer to your factory intake manifold and then reinstall the throttle body to the spacer itself. We do call this one an hour on the site but don’t be surprised if you get it done a little faster. Either way if you do have any questions or concerns, or need some help installing the throttle body spacer, feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email. So if you’re looking for an easy to install, inexpensive part that’s only going to help your performance as more parts are added, then you have to check out SR Performance’s throttle body spacer available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improve Engine Performance. Unleash your GT Mustangs hidden power with a SR Performance Throttle Body Spacer. The SR Performance throttle body spacer increases plenum volume to improve the low to mid range torque from your Mustang's stock 4.6L engine, with noticeable gains seen between 800 to 2500 RPM.

Better Fuel Economy. The SR Performance Throttle Body Spacer not only improves the performance of your Mustang, but with its unique “Spiral Bore” design it also improves fuel efficiency. The Spiral Bore "spins" the incoming air for improved atomization of the air fuel mixture for better combustion.

Billet Aluminum Construction. CNC machined from high quality billet aluminum the SR Performance Throttle Body Spacer includes all the necessary hardware required for a simple straightforward bolt-on installation.

Application. The SR Performance Throttle Body Spacer is specifically designed to fit the 2005-2010 4.6L GT Mustangs with a stock throttle body installed. No tune required.

Ask a Question

will the SR performance throttle body spacer fit a bbk 62mm throttle body? do the bores on the spacer match the bores on the bbk throttle body 62mm?? or are they different because the spacer fits a stock throttle body with 55mm bore?? i know V6 models do from prior experience but is it the same on a GT?? need to know before i buy either. thank you!

afelliott

  • The bore size on this spacer is designed for the stock throttle body only. Using this spacer with the 62mm aftermarket throttle body would actually restrict your airflow and negatively affect your power gains. Hope this helps!

Will this fit on the Ford racing intake that you guys carry?

Kazu

  • Yes it does. I replaced my orginal intake from ford with the ford racing intake this summer and it works perfect. I have pictures posted on the intake section and you should be able to see the spacer in the pics.

Whistle noise? Does this product add a "whistle" noise to the intake when you get on the throttle?

TravT

  • The SR Performance Throttle Body Spacer (05-10 GT) should not add any whistling noise. Normally an aftermarket CAI will create a noise while driving. The Throttle Body Spacer will simply change the way the air flows by making it spiral.

    Quick Install

For less than a $100 its a nice upgrade. My son and I installed it the night before he left so I don't know about mileage gain. Only thing we noticed after the install was the sound of the exhaust changed. Deeper tone. I had reprogrammed the tune back to stock to improve the gas mileage so we'll see in a few days what kind of difference it makes. Over all it was a great purchase and a great small project for my son and I. Thanks AM

    Good Product..

First of all.. American Muscle has followed through on everything I've ordered.. good service.. the throttle body spacer did what it advertised. It did add torque and horsepower throughout the RPM range, but is most noticeable at the upper end. It did increase gas mileage and at this point looks to be about 2mpg. It's installed on a 2008 G.T. with an automatic, Pypes X pipe, and Pypes Violator Mufflers with a Rousch Cold Air intake..

Looks good, didn't notice any power increase

Picked the spacer up while it was on sale and was picking up a few other small trim pieces. Installation was pretty straight forward, but I didn't notice a difference in the car. Also while installing the part I noticed my Airade CAI had come disconnected from the filter box, so I fixed that and cleaned the filter. SO maybe I just don't push the car hard enough. Still got a good squeal out of the tires and mean rumble sprinting to 70.

    Good part

I couldn't tell you the gain I felt when I put just this part on because I installed it with a Ford Racing 62mm Throttle body, and Ford Racing Intake Manifold. But I'm sure It added some umph. My only gripe with this product is that after installation The vacuum hose that hooks up to the Cold Air Intake wasn't long enough and I had to go to a hose and tube shop and have them make me another one. Other than that, everything fits great and bolts were plenty long

    No Power Increase.

Read the reviews so decided to pull the trigger on this TBS. I'm not a believer in snake-oil type products like this but decided to try it due to reviews. I'm not sure if it is because I have so much done to the car or not, but I felt nothing and heard nothing. Paper weight.

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

If you have a larger TB installed along with the spacer, that may be a reason you aren't feeling an increase in power as the spacer would restrict the airflow of the larger opening on the TB. Coupled with exhaust mods and/or a CAI would also drown out some of the sound this spacer would make. If you have an aftermarket TB installed, I'd highly recommend removing this spacer.

    A cheap interesting upgrade....

If you are looking for an inexpensive interesting upgrade then definately purchase. Some claim huge performance differences, some claim improved gas mileage. As a daily driver, I did this right after a cold air intake upgrade and was unable to notice much difference. Also INSTALL NOTE* the bottom studs on the throttle body for mounting the air intake need to be backed out manually recommend vice grips. Also cannot put the block cover back on because of the added space to the mounting screws of the throttle body, recommend shave off the plastic that the screws mount to on the front of the cover.

    Perfect fit

The throttle body spacer is a good quality, perfect fit product. It did not come with instructions, however. When I disassembled the throttle body I found two bolts and two studs with nuts holding it on. I had to use vise-grips to remove the studs, which wasn't difficult. The new bolts were the perfect length and the threads matched perfectly. I had previously installed a K&N CAI and there was no problems with fitment whatsoever. I am happy overall but, would question whether this product has any real noticeable effect on mileage or performance. I could not perceive any whistle or adverse noise afterward. Looks nice!

    Excellent Product

Your going to want to make sure that you take your time and be careful when removing the throttle body to not drop any screws in the engine. I used a magentic tyoe ashtray to avoid any mishaps. Just remember proper tools is the basis for any install and patience.

    Cheap Upgrade

This is a basic upgrade that I coupled with another upgrade. I could tell an instant difference on my 09 GT. My intown fuel mileage really suffered but highway driving saw around 3-4 MPG better coupled with the CAI. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for that quick and easy boost. Super simple to install. Thanks

    easy install

just installed the throttle body, took less than 20 minutes.I have a steeda cai and a ford racing plenum cover. The top two bolts on the throttle body need to be removed with a socket and the two bottom bolts need to be removed with vise grips. The bolts provided fit perfectly, gasket provided goes in first, then the throttle body spacer. Other reviews said to cut the tabs that go over the bolts for the plenum cover,(if you have one) DON"T. Slip the cover over the FRONT of the throttle body screws first and then pull the cover back and seat them on the screws provided with your cover. Looks much better than cutting the tabs!! Noticed more tourque near the 4-6000 rpm range, great addition for little money.

    easy install no gain

the spacer was real easy to install, but i did not feel any gains in horse power or fuel mileage. the car already has an airaid cold air with a K&N filter and super 44 mufflers,no other mods. maybe i will try a tuner or different gears, i had a spacer on my 09 focus and got a 2.5 mpg increase and more ponies, was hoping for the same results.

    Can't go wrong!

This is my first review and first purchase of a product from American Muscle. I must say everything good that has been said about AM has been spot on! They are far and above any competition when it comes to Stang parts. I have owned quite a few Stangs but I had never used a throttle body spacer and at $40 I was certainly interested. After reading numerous reviews I made my decision. Bought on Friday was here by the following Wednesday. Took me about 15 minutes to install (def use vice grips on the bottom studs when installing) and was very straight forward and quite simple really. Once I got her on the road I could definitely notice a power gain in the mid-higher RPM range. Bottome line for $40 bucks I really don't see how you can go wrong with such a great product! This was my first purchase but it certainly won't be my last! Thank AM!

    best band for the buck

I have an 06 Mustang GT. I bought this spacer from a friend who recommended I get a spacer for the throttle body. I noticed the throttle response is way better than stock and the low/high end torque was better. I recommend this to anyone who wants performance out of their Mustang without spending a whole lot of money.

I installed this in my garage with a friend, who bought the same product for his 07 GT. after the installation I noticed the throttle feels much stiffer, i also noticed the increase in HP and TQ. pretty smooth installation. very interesting and noticeable power, well worth every penny.

    try it if interested

bought this spacer because i was interested. probably would have done more if the car was boosted, but on a car with just a cold air intake, i could barely tell a difference. product is well machined and installation is a breeze, it went on like it had eyes, takes maybe 15 minutes, 30 minutes tops to install. if you're interested, check it out. it wont hurt

Best performance mod for the buck out there!

First off I bought this on a Wednesday night around 8pm and it came in the mail on Saturday with the standard shipping witch was great! Fitment was right on, no leaks or odd noises. Fit great with my aftermarket K&N Typhoon CAI and stock throttle body. And now what everyone wants to know, there was for sure a performance gain and better throttle response! I am very happy with the purchase!
