They balance high performance features like higher clamp loads with great driveability, resulting in a clutch you can drive every day without getting a leg workout on every shift.

flywheel? can I use my stock flywheel if I get it resurfaced?

  • After checking with Exedy Customer support personel for my own application. They insisted that most Aftermarket clutch manufacturers Do Not recommend resurfacing flywheels, especially vehicles with nonadjustable hydraulic slave cylinders. If it is scored or heat cracked enough to need resurfacing, they recommend replacing.

    Horrible

I had this clutch professionally installed. It had excessive chatter, the shop and i both drove it a couple times no more than 20 miles altogether. We decided to pull it back out and noticed a defect on the pressure plate.I called Ram and they do not seem to want to fix the problem. I will never buy a ram product again

    Smooth Clutch

Included everything but the pilot bearing, but was a painless install and the clutch performs much better than the original stock one. I've only been able to put on a couple hundred easy miles so far because I am breaking in the rebuilt transmission. Great performance, Good Price and like always very fast shipping! Thanks AM!

    Go with another clutch

Very surprised at the positive reviews on this clutch. While it may hold the power you are looking for, this clutch is the stiffest clutch I have ever felt by far. Huge pain driving in any kind of traffic. I had this clutch professionally installed with the adjuster kit (also a bad decision). Be careful when choosing an aftermarket clutch, and know that no matter what you go with, it will never feel the same as your stock clutch.

    Great Clutch

Simply put Ford wanted $600.00 for their name clutch and close to $400.00 for a generic clutch from a local supplier. This clutch has a better feel than when the car was new also purchased the clutch adjuster kit . Also had King Cobra Clutch. This is a keeper.

    ram hdx`

excellent clutch choice for over 400hp could not be happier with its performance in launching unfortunately it is NOT as friendly on the street as made out to be . it always feels ready to "jump" with a harder pedal feel though that is great when racing not ideal for traffic . having owned multiple mustangs from at least 4 generations (most manual) i recommend it, but be it known its fairly hard

    Good product

The clutch works perfectly. Just make sure you give it a proper break in before you go roasting any tires. Drive for about 500 miles then you can go have some fun. No slipping and came with everything I needed.

    GREAT DEAL

Great clutch at a good price. Feels very similar to stock clutch. I haven't had my car very long so it pretty close to stock still so no worries about needing heavy duty clutch. I do a lot of in town driving and didn't want to have a super hard clutch to deal with. Everything lined up perfectly. Very happy customer.

    Heavy Clutch

I wanted a heavy duty clutch for my '04 GT. The Ram HDX product was certainly heavy duty, but it came with unacceptably heavy pedal pressure to operate it! In all other respects the clutch was excellent, and probably a good choice for some form of racing, but too heavy for the street. I think the ad copy should reflect this fact. I replaced the clutch with an OEM unit, and the Ram HDX clutch is sitting in its box at my place with 300 miles on it. It is my understanding that this did not fit your return guidelines.

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

Yes, unfortunately once a clutch is opened / installed, it can not be returned. Hearing you describe this clutch as having a heavy pedal, I would recommend installing this, or any aftermarket clutch, along with a new quadrant, adjustable cable and firewall adjuster so that you can obtain the appropriate clutch engagement as well as pedal feel, which should not be stiff. Aftermarket clutches should also be installed with a matching flywheel of the same manufacturer so that the flywheel and clutch will engage properly and have the correct clearances. I am sorry to hear you had a problem with your clutch initially, but I hope these tips will help if you wish to try again next time your clutch needs replacing. Please feel free to contact our customer service department for any additional assistance or tips.

    Best clutch I have tried

I've ran numerous clutch combos and this is by far my favorite. I feel like it has a really soft pedal feel, great release for hard shifts, and its still capable of holding the power for abuse. It isn't recommended for slicks, but I cut 1.6 short times on slicks with this clutch. I just put this clutch back on my 450rwhp S/C Mach 1 and its holding up great .

    Don't waste your time.

So I installed this kit about 9 months ago or 1800 miles ago. My stang is the daily driver but my work is 7 miles away. I noticed a slight chatter 4 months into having this clutch and instantly knew it was either the throw out bearing or maybe the control arm. Anyways, the chatter got worse and worse and I eventually got around to dropping the transmission again. What I found was the throw out bearing had been completely torn in half and there was metal everywhere. I highly recommend anybody to stay away from any RAM products. After 1800 miles this is completely unacceptable and if I hadn't waited so long I would be getting my money back. I've submitted pictures to the customer photos section so you can see what your clutch will look like 2k miles in.

    Well worth the money!!!

I ordered and received this clutch shortly after the order was placed (3 days, I believe). I did a lot of research on this clutch. I am impressed by the fit (my mechanic said install was a breeze, excepting some exhaust collector bolts that needed drilled). The clutch feels stiffer then stock (about 15-20%). It has just a touch of chatter when engaging from a stop, but it seems to be lessening with use. I STRONGLY Recommend replacing the stock pilot bearing (a roller bearing) with a bushing (solid bearing). My stock clutch had 102K on it, but still had plenty of life HOWEVER, when removed the stock pilot bearing was in pieces and had started to tear up the input shaft. So do yourself a favor and have a bushing put in (it'll prevent you from having to replace the input shaft which equals big money in labor and parts). Good luck and have fun!

Great fitment, excellent build quality, pedal not too stiff.

i recently changed my clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing. I have about 80 miles on this Ram HDX clutch and I like what I have seen (or felt) so far. Seems to grab good, although I have not really got on it yet. The pedal is firm and solid but not weak like a Honda civic clutch yet no where near a stiff race clutch. I like the feel of it. I have seen some people complain of chatter...I hear no chatter and only feel some chatter if I don't give it enough gas when starting out. I have daily driven some pretty serious race clutches before and this clutch engages like a dream for me. Its pretty close to the perfect street clutch. It is slightly stiffer than stock so don't worry about it having that heavy pedal. I would most definitely recommend this clutch to anyone...you cannot beat the price...especially for the quality you get!

No dowel pins or bolts, but otherwise so far so good

NOTE: This kit does NOT include dowel pins and bolts. I installed some from FRPP. Overall I like the clutch. I am still in the break-in period, so time will tell. The install went well and everything is running great so far.

    stage 2 clutch

Very nice upgrade clutch disc and steel flywheel and the clutch adjuster kit with flywheel adjuster its great for a full bolt on gt with a sct tune or a dyno tune...you have to do it right and take your time and follow toque specs...I did it myself and I have no chatter it a little heavy but when you breal it in it feels softer and it pulls while shifting through gears..I would reccomend a ram hdx cluth for a full bolt on gt and or a gt with upgraded top end
