Description
Improves Shifts. Get quick, crisp, shorter throws with a Mustang Short Throw Sport Shifter and get rid of that loose sloppy feeling of your factory shifter.

Adjustable. Two sets of centering return springs and adjustable shift stops allow you to adjust the shift handle firmness to your own personal preference. And the included handle allows for multiple positions for further adjust-ability.

Superior Construction. The upper collar of the Mustang t5/t45 Sport Shifter is constructed out of pure billet aluminum for strength and weight reduction, while the base is cast aluminum to provide a sturdy platform for those heavy handed shifters.

Application. This Short Throw 5-Speed Shifter is designed to fit the 1983 to early 2001 V8 and 1994 to 2004 V6 Mustangs with the T-5/T-45 Transmission. Reuse factory Shift knob.

suprised

I was hesitant with the low price tag but it really is a quality shifter. Real tight, crisp shifting. I perfer the looser of the two springs. It works great in my 01 GT.

Shifter Base & Handle Gasket What are the Shifter Base & Handle Gasket in the option? What do they do?

  • When installing your shifter, you will need to either use a shifter gasket or use silicone. The great thing about the gasket is that it makes the installation very simple and less messy than dealing with silicone or gasket maker. The shifter gasket is used to reduce noise and vibration coming through the transmission. Another bonus to using the gasket is its hassle free removal if you need to service your trans for any reason and it can be reused!

would this happen to fit on an '04 mach 1? someone i know is selling this exact same one and i just wanted to know if it would fit my mach.

  • It should fit, I ordered it for my 97 GT and it went on fine. I am pretty sure the most shifters from 96-04 will interchange aside from the cobra.

Thought it was awesome til i compared..

Bought this shifter about a year ago for my 96 GT with T45 trans. Was very tight on cash and wanted a shifter with shift stops to prevent a bent shift fork. I'll be honest - I thought the shifter was amazing the first few times i shifted it - crisp and firm through the gears compared to the sloppy stocker. But the throw is not reduced by much at all. I still reach for 3rd and 5th. The shifter is slammed down, but that doesnt make for shorter shifts. I thought I made out on a great deal until I felt a friend's GT with a Hurst shifter and I was blown away and embarassed. He asked if I still had the stock shifter in my car. Numerous times have had the bolts back out - even with tons of loctite on all of them. Had trouble popping out of gear until I realized it was the bolts backing out of the shifter base. Overall has been quite the headache over the last few months. I'll be honest - its better than stock, but not even in the same ballpark as a Tri-Ax, Hurst, MGW, or any of the other decent brand name ones. Rated 2 stars because I still have my shift forks I suppose.

    great cheap mod

Great shifter for the price. way better than the rubbery stock one. gives car a much better feel while driving. Just make sure to use loc tite on every nut and bolt during installation or they will be sure to come lose.

    95 cobra

I have to say that I am always pleased with the parts that I get from A.M. But this time I was let down, the shifter vibrate and rattles under acceleration. They send you 4 springs 2 of which are supposed to make it a little firmer to shift. But I got 3 of the soft and 1 firm spring. I have taken this thing off and have my stocker back on until I get the money for a Quality shifter.

    Shifter

I jus got it today. It took me about an hour to put in everything went smooth until I had to get the old shifteroff the tranny. I used a car jack an a screw driver. But shifter feels very nice. Having a lil problem downshifting into second that's jus an adjustment. No need to purschase any other shifter this one does the job.

    88 GT

Lightning fast shipping as usual. Thanks AM!! Everything went together great. As some others mentioned, the hardware provided wasnt the greatest...one of the studs stripped before it even came close to being tight, so I used one of the stock bolts in its place. Other than that, shifter feels great, and much more confident feeling that the car is in gear. Only Con I found was this shifter when installed is about an inch or so more to the right than the stock handle...so first gear now feels like the stock 3rd gear position...
