More Horsepower and Torque.   Improve the performance of your S197 Mustang with a set of BBK Long Tube Headers. These BBK ceramic coated headers will greatly improve your mustangs exhaust flow over the restrictive factory manifolds and increase your Pony's horsepower and torque. Increases of 14 to 22 RWHP have been seen when installed with a BBK shorty X pipe.

Silver Ceramic Coating. These Long Tube Headers are completed in BBK's Polished Silver Ceramic Coating that not only looks great, but reduce under hood temperatures to help increase horsepower and extend the life of the headers. Ceramic Coated headers will long out last both chrome plated and polished headers.

Quality Construction.   BBK Long Tube Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1 5/8" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow. And feature one piece laser cut 3/8" header flanges for added strength, leak-free performance and OEM fit. These headers are then completed in a polished ceramic finish for good looks and to lower under hood temperatures.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. These Ceramic Long Tube Headers are designed to fit the manual and automatic transmissions 2005-2010 GT Mustangs. BBK long tube headers require a flanged end shorty midpipe in order to function properly. BBK recommends using a BBK shorty X-Pipe for the best performance gains (see drop down option above).

Technical notes. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only. A BBK shorty Mid Pipe are required for installation.

I’m Justin with and this is our breakdown of BBK’s Long tube ceramic headers for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT. Long tubes completely replace those ultra restrictive cast iron manifolds, which can really choke out the flow of exhaust. Adding a set of long tubes along with an aftermarket mid pipe and exhaust will make for a really free flowing setup that will free up some extra horsepower and torque. These headers from BBK are going to be pretty much middle of the road in terms of average price, figuring you have a company like PaceSetter on the lower side of things, and companies like JBA and Cook’s on the higher side of the spectrum. However, one of the things that will separate these headers from BBK from the competition is the ceramic coating. That ceramic coating will offer a couple of different benefits, first is performance, ceramic coatings dissipate heat a lot better than a stainless header, which will make for a slight performance edge, and will help keep the engine bay a little bit cooler as well, which is always a good thing. Second, these headers will offer a little bit more durability and longevity than a chrome plated header or a stainless header. The final benefit is going to be appearance. I know it’s not all that important since these headers aren’t completely visible from the engine bay, however that ceramic coating is going to keep that nice bright silver color throughout their life whereas a chrome or stainless header tends to change color as they heat cycle, which some people like, others may not. Another thing, this ceramic coating is going to be a lot easier to keep clean as well. Taking a closer look at the headers themselves, you’ll notice pretty good welds down here at the collector, as well as pre welded O2 sensor bungs. The headers also feature 1 and 5/8” mandrel bent tubing, which should really help that exhaust flow. Finally, you’ll notice this laser cut flanges for an OEM type fit, which won’t allow any leaking. Installing any set of long tube headers can be a little intense, so if you don’t think you have the mechanical know how to get this job done, then you might want to leave this one up to the shop. However if you are going to tackle the job, you’ll be happy to know that these headers do include all the hardware and necessary gaskets, but just leave yourself a full day, just to be safe. Keep in mind whenever you run a set of long tube headers like these BBKs, you will need to address your mid pipe. In this case, you will need to run a flanged end shorty mid pipe, just to get everything bolted up properly. BBK recommends running their shorty X-pipe, just for the best fitment, and for the best performance gains. So if you’re looking for a set of headers at a very fair price, that will offer all the performance of a set of long tubes, plus the added benefits of a ceramic coating, then these headers from BBK are definitely worth checking out.

What accessories work with this? My main question details is one running my mustang just off the headers... would that be a problem, as in could it damage my car? Second I love blow off valves, would I be able to use one with just headers?


  • Open headers are generally not advised on S197s... these engines need some level of back pressure and open headers will actually decrease the performance of the car, and risk damage to your valves. Plus it would be extremely loud - eople calling the cops on you for just driving by loud. As for the blow off valve, I'm not really sure I understand what you're trying to say.. blow off valves vent pressurized intake air from a turbocharger, and aren't connected to your exhaust. If you mean cutouts, then yes, feasibly you could run cutouts just past your headers, although I'd place them further down at the mid-pipe for the reasons I stated above about open headers. Hope that helps.

Does this Headers fit with Mustang Roush 2010, 4.6 Engine?


  • Yeah these fit, I have these headers installed on a 2008 GT my brother-in law has them on his Roush, I actually had less problems installing them on his car than with mine.

Will this work with an Automatic GT? 2010 Mustang gt to be exact.


  • These certainly do! They fit both automatic and manual transmissions! Just remember, you need the Shorty Mid-pipe when installing these Long Tubes as your factory or standard length mid-pipe will not work. The ceramic long tubes are definitely a great option - I know you'd be more than happy with these!

    I had these installed which was about $500 with the BBK catted X pipe and a custom Bama tune. These sound perfect, nice and loud when you get on it and quiet and normal cruising speeds. Idle is great not to loud but you can tell its not stock but when you touch the gas the sound comes alive, have not gotten on it yet as you want let these heat cycle a few times or it may turn your check engine light on. But these are awesome my car sounds great and can already tell there is more power and low end torque. My headers failed to come with all the hardware and American Muscle as they always do took care of me and reimbursed me for the gaskets and hardware.

    BBK Long Tube Headers

    I installed these myself, not that difficult of a project. The only issue is the next to last stud on top of passenger side needs to be shortened and be the only stud in place when mounting header. Everything else went just like the instructions explained. Great Sound and Performance.

    American Muscle

    These fit perfect on my Shelby! Now my muscle car sounds like a muscle car! They give just enough sound but are quiet enough to not be annoying in the cab. I used them with the BBK catted X-Pipe along with a Borla exhaust! Love it!! Just make sure you get a tuner to avoid kicking the check engine light as well as to boost the gas mileage!

    Well worth it.

    I bought these headers for my 2007 Mustang GT; I thought it needed a more aggressive tone. Coupled with a BBK O/R X and SLP Loudmouths, these headers have made my car INSANELY loud, not to mention ridiculously aggressive. Great product at a great price. No complaints here, thanks AM.

    Love them, churps when shifting into 3rd way harder now. With just a JLT cai, BBK longtubes and BBK shorty o/r X-pipe i was puttin 307 at the wheels and the tune was really rich...Meanest sound in the world when ur hauling and have it up in the high RPMs

    These are just amazing. I installed them with a BBK shorty x-pipe and magnaflow magnapack catback exhaust. The install was easy. They dont look like the picture and dont have the exhaust returns on them. The power difference is definitely noticeable and the car now sounds amazing!!! I would recommend to anyone looking for a great sound and a great power gain.

    A Miillion Times Better

    i just got these and put them on my 09 gt along with the uncatted x pipe and flowmaster mufflers. it sounds amazing and you can feel the added power.

    2010 Headers

    Just did the install on a 2010 gt. Did all the work myself and was not too bad just very tight if you do not have a car lift. Would say basic set of tools would not be a good idea for self install and motor must be raised and motor mounts come out to make it possible but other than that the product is amazing and sound is amazing along with catted "x". Do not recommend running this set up with SLP Loudmouths you will get a lot of exhaust pop when you let off the throttle but all in all i was happy.

    Big Improvement

    Finally had them installed, couple of things. When i opened the package, the headers were damaged at the flange side, bent in, during shipment i suppose, but that was repaired at the shop. The sound is awesome, however, when i kick the a/c on, and when the clutch engages on the compressor, i can hear a minor whistling sound inside the cab, Not sure the cause of it. Great product tho. I bought these along with off-road x-pipes, and also has a tune to it. Loving it, Thanks again AM, coming back for some more later.
